Chapter 2
Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel
Chapter 2
âNo. I refuse.â Audrey rejected it in a firm tone.
Emmaâs face turned cold when she heard Audreyâs refusal. âItâs not up to you. I have already talked to the Russell family. Whether you want to marry him or not, you have to marry.â
âI said, Iâm not marrying him.â Audrey didnât want argue anymore. With that, she went straight to her room.
Emmaâs angry voice came from behind. âAudrey, listen. You have no choice but to accept this marriage proposal! You must marry him! Also, youâre coming with me to meet his parents tomorrow afternoon! Do you hear me?â
With a bang Audrey closed the door, shutting out Emmaâs voice.
After closing the door, Audrey slid down along the door and weakly sat on the floor.
During this period of time, no matter what happened, she could ignore it. But unfortunately, she encountered Tyler.
She didnât know if he genuinely didnât know that it was her that he was going on a blind date with, or if he knew it was her and deliberately came to see her in such a sorry state.
Regardless of the possibility, Audrey didnât want to have any relationship with Tyler. However, because of his sudden appearance, she couldnât fall asleep that night no matter how hard she tried.
Early the next day, Audrey was called by her manager with a phone call, saying all the private rooms she was in charge of last night had received complaints.
Due to these complaints, Audrey had nearly half a monthâs salary deducted.
âAudrey, the large private room is shortâstaffed. Go and help out.â
Audrey responded and put down the cup she hadnât had a chance to fill with water, heading toward the private room.
âOh, isnât this Audrey?â As soon as Audrey pushed open the door to the private room, she heard a sarcastic voice, and everyone at the table, therefore, looked at Audrey.
Audrey finally saw clearly that these people were her former classmates.
âOh, itâs Miss Griffin. Long time no see. I heard that the Griffin family went bankrupt. I guess thatâs why you became a waitress. But being a waitress is such a lowly job, isnât it? Miss Griffin, why donât you just lie down on those old menâs beds? Their money will

This man had always been interested in Audrey, but back then, she was so arrogant that no one dared to approach her. Now, however, she was no longer the dignised eldest daughter of the Griffin family, and she was doing such a lowly job. He miss such a good opportunity.
Audrey initially thought of just enduring it and letting it go. She felt like she was walking on thin ice and didnât want to get entangled with these irrelevant people. But it was clear that the other party wasnât planning to let her go.
Just she was considering whether strike the person in front of her on the head or

Hearing this voice, Audrey was startled as if someone had held her heart, causing her to pause her breath.
It until the man walked over and placed his hand on her shoulder that Audrey snapped back to reality., She then felt embarrassed and wanted to escape, but the man held her tightly. She couldnât break free.

The man was dressed in a suit, with a cold expression as he looked at the man who had spoken earlier. âNo matter how much she asks for, you can afford it, right?â
âTyler⦠Tyler Russell?â The man looked in fear at Tyler holding Audrey, stumbling over
his words.
Tylerâs gaze shifted to another person. âYou think lying on the bed will bring you money? Why donât you give it a try?â
The woman who said those words earlier looked embarrassed.
Tyler calmly said, âYou were right about one thing earlier. she is indeed embarrassed. right now.â
He paused and then chuckled. âBut sheâs embarrassed because of you guys, not herself.â
Audrey was completely stunned. âHe heard all those words earlier?â she wondered. âBut why is he here? And why is he helping me?â
As Audrey was speculating anxiously about the manâs intentions she heard his gentle. voice in her ear. âDidnât we agree to meet my parents today and discuss our marriage? Why did you hide here? Are you shy or nervous?â
To Audrey, Tylerâs words seemed even more intimidating than the othersâ mocking and insults previously.
The others were also shocked as if they had heard something horrifying. They all stared at Audrey with wide eyes.
Ignoring everyoneâs reactions, including Audreyâs, Tyler gently took her hand and said, âMy parents have already arrived. Letâs go.â
The two of them walked out under the astonished gazes of the crowd.
When Audrey finally snapped out of her daze, they were already in another private room. She looked at the person sitting in the chair. Her voice was somewhat hoarse as she stuttered, âWhat⦠what are you doing here?â
Tyler stared at Audrey with his deep eyes for a few seconds before saying, âMeeting the parents of my blind date.â
Audrey was taken aback. âMeeting the parents of his blind date?â she murmured inwardly. âIs he going on blind dates with other people?
She then heard him say, âDid you think I was just helping you out in front of those people earlier?â
Audrey blurted out, âWasnât that what you were doing?â

âNo, I was stating the facts.â Tyler glanced at his watch. âThey must haveâ¦â
Before Tyler could finish his sentence, Audreyâs phone rang. It was her mother calling.
Audrey answered the call. âMom?â
âWeâve already arrived. Where are you?â
âWhat?â Audrey was confused.
âWhen you left this morning, didnât I tell you that we were going to meet your blind dateâs parents today? Weâre all here waiting for you. Hurry up and come over.â
After hearing Emmaâs words, Audrey glanced at the man sitting in the chair. âI already told you last night I wouldnâtâ¦â
âAudrey, donât forget that your grandmother is still hospitalized. We donât have money to pay for her expensive surgery. If you want to let her wait for her death in the hospital, then donât bother coming.â
With that, Emma hung up.
Audrey held the phone, her face looking embarrassed. The surgery for her grandmother cost at least 200 thousand dollars, but she couldnât even afford 20 thousand dollars right now.
Joseph and Emma thought that they didnât need to waste their money on an old person,
especially someone who was dying. While the Griffin family was still rich, they could still afford the medical expenses. Now that they were in trouble, they just abandoned Audreyâs grandmother completely.
Audrey took a deep breath and looked up at Tyler. âDo you really want to marry me?â
