Chapter 17
Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel
Chapter
At that moment, Grace came out of the bathroom. âAudrey, can youâ¦â
Halfway through her sentence, Grace saw Amelia sitting in front of the piano that Audrey normally sat in front of. She quickly walked over and said politely, âMiss, this. isnât the tryout piano. The tryout piano is over there.â
Theyâre all pianos. Whatâs the difference?â
Grace explained, âThis piano is specially provided for our pianistâ¦â
âHaha, are you talking about Audrey? Sheâs your pianist? Thatâs hilarious!â
Even if Grace was slow in catching up with things, she still realized that something was wrong. She turned and looked at Audrey and asked with her eyes, âWhatâs going on, Audrey?â
Audrey shook her head at Grace. She then walked up to Amelia and turned to a random page in the book of sheet music placed on the piano. âLetâs play this.â
Amelia looked at the name of the piece of music. Her face instantly changed.
This piece of music wasnât something that someone at her level could play.
One would at least need to be a gradeâeight or -nine pianist to be able to play this piece of music.
Amelia didnât even know which hand to place on the keys first or which finger should press which key.
âWhat is it? Do you need time to prepare?â Audrey stood in front of the piano with a smile on her face. âDo you want a round of applause from me?â
With that said, Audrey clapped her hands seriously.
Amelia felt like Audreyâs claps were like slaps landing on her face.
Grace almost burst out laughing.
She tried her best not to laugh and clapped her hands like Audrey. âDonât be nervous, Miss You do it.â
The two girls that came with Amelia also clapped and cheered for Amelia. âAmelia, play a song them. Let them see what a real pianist is like.â
âThatâs right. Let them see what a real pro is like.â

Grace had figured out what was going on now. The three girls definitely knew Audrey and were here deliberately looking for trouble.
Gary had warned Grace multiple times that if someone came to bother Audrey, she would need to inform him.
Therefore, Grace took out her phone and secretly notified Gary.
Gary had worked extra hours the previous day, so he decided to allow himself to get off work early that day.
However, when he got into the car, he saw Graceâs message.
He then notified David immediately.
When David received Garyâs message, he went to find Tyler.
Tyler was talking about a business plan with a corporate partner. They had just reached the most important part.
David stood at the door and hesitated for quite a while before raising his hand and knocking on the door.
Tyler raised his head and looked at the door. When he saw David, he nodded as a signal that David could come in.
David walked over, leaned in, and said something in Tylerâs ear.
Tyler furrowed his brows and then turned to look at the corporate partner. âIâm sorry. Something urgent has just come up. I need to go and take care of it. The project can.

The corporate partner was a little stunned. He had thought of a dozen different ways to convince Tyler, but he seemed to have gotten what he wanted before he could any

Tyler stood up and reached out his hand politely. âI hope we have a pleasant. cooperation.â
The corporate partner was in a daze for a few seconds before reaching out to shake Tylerâs hand. âSame here.â
The corporate partner was afraid that Tyler would regret his decision, so he quickly picked up his pen and signed the contract after he finished shaking hands with Tyler. âThen I wonât disturb Mr. Russell anymore. Let me treat you to a meal sometime.â
Tyler nodded. âNo problem. David see our guest out.â

David nodded and accompanied the corporate partner to the elevator.
When the corporate partner had left, David returned to the office. âMr. Russellâ¦â
âGo start the car.â Tyler interrupted David, bent down, and signed the contract on the table after scanning through it.
David nodded and left.
The girl who was closest to Amelia saw that Amelia didnât look so good, so she asked quietly, âAmelia, do you not feel well?
Amelia really wanted to seal their mouths shut. If it werenât for them, she wouldnât have been in such a difficult position.
However, the girlâs words gave Amelia an excuse to not play the piano.
She was just about to say something, but Audrey had beaten her to it. âYouâre a grade- nine pianist. This song is what a pianist must learn when they first reach grade nine. If you donât feel well, then just play the prelude.â
After saying that, Audrey bent down a little and whispered in a voice that could only be heard by the two of them, âDo you know how to play this song?â
Amelia raised her head and glared at Audrey. âItâs one of the easiest songs for a grade- nine pianist.
so hard about it?â
âThen off you go.â
Amelia tried her best to recall how Audrey played the piano before and placed her hands on the keyboard.
There were a lot of customers in the store at the moment, and they had all gathered around.
The first press of the keys made an awkward sound that made everyone present furrow their brows.
Even the two girls who came with Amelia were taken aback.
âI⦠I pressed the wrong key,â Amelia explained.
Audrey didnât choose to expose Amelia. âItâs alright. I know youâre nervous
Amelia just wanted to slap Audrey in the face at that moment, but she had no choice. but to pretend to be calm.
This time, the piano didnât make any awkward sounds, but the song Amelia played was

nothing like what was written on the sheet music.
âThatâs not right. Iâve heard this song before. Itâs a different tune.â
One of the passersby asked, âMiss, what song were you just playing? How come Iâve never heard of it?â
When Amelia finished playing the song, she quickly stood up.
She didnât play the song Audrey had given her, but she didnât do that bad.
âIt was great.â The girls who came with Amelia clapped their hands.
The crowd also clapped their hands politely.
Audrey clapped her hands as well and then said, âThis song can be played by children at the beginners stage, but you play it much better. Youâre quite good. Keep up the hard
work.
As soon as David walked into the store, he heard this âcompliment.â After that, het couldnât help but laugh.
Audrey looked in the direction of the sound. When she saw who walked in from the entrance, she was stunned.
Tyler locked eyes with Audrey and then looked away indifferently. It was as if he didnât like her.
At that moment, the girl who stood beside Amelia became mad at Audreyâs words. âWhat do you mean by this song can be played by children at the beginners level? Do you even know anything about playing the piano?â
âSheâs right. You make yourself sound like you know everything. Youâre just a fake.â
Audrey smiled. âIâ¦â

The manâs tall figure walked through the crowd. His gaze landed on Audrey. âSince you know so much about pianos, how about you play a song for us?â
âIs guy out of his mind?â Audrey wondered.
She felt that their relationship should have improved after she had treated him to a meal.
She didnât expect their relationship to become worse.
âWhat? Donât you know how to play the piano?â Tyler walked forward. âThen what she

Audrey glared at Tyler, turned around, and sat down in front of the piano. After that, Audrey played a pleasant piece of music using her slender fingers. It was as if she had shut Tyler up.
Tyler looked at Audrey, who was playing the piano seriously. His l*ps curved a little.
