Chapter 320
The Beginning Of All Sins
Olivia turned her head when she heard Anaâs voice and saw her standing next to the bed, wrapped in a shawl. Ana still wore yesterdayâs clothes, which suggested she had stayed all night.
While And Surprised she did that for her, Olivia realized she was alone with Ana in the room. âHowâsâ¦
Naomi?â she asked.
Ana seemed annoyed by the question. With a hint of frustration, she replied sharply, âJust focus on yourself and the baby. What about Naomi? Sheâs survived so many close calls. Sheâll probably pull through this one too.â
Olivia didnât say anything in response.
Ana noticed Oliviaâs discomfort. Trying to ease the tension, she softened her tone. âYou should eat something. Itâs important for the baby,â she urged.
Just then, Alisa came in with food and placed it on the nightstand. The delicious smell filled the room, but Olivia still had no appetite.
âTry it,â Alisa whispered gently.
Olivia remained motionless, lost in thought. Ana, understanding her concern, eventually said, âIâll check on Naomi for you, but only after youâve eaten.â
âThanks, Mom,â Olivia replied, gratitude in her voice. She then began to eat slowly.
After Olivia started eating, Ana left the room.
Ben was outside the door. Ana, looking worried, asked, âSheâs awake now. Isnât he going to visit her?â
Ben seemed unsure. âItâs a mess over there. Iâm afraid⦠itâs bad.â
âBad?â Ana pressed him for more.
âSheâs back in the emergency room this morning and hasnât come out,â Ben explained.
âWhat? Again?â Ana paused, then asked, âIs she⦠dying?â
â
To Ana, Naomiâs death might solve many problems. Ben, wanting to avoid the subject, answered vaguely, âI think she has lost her will to live. She has declined treatment.
Ana was taken aback. âSheâs lost her will to live,â she repeated, her voice tinged with disbelief and relief.
She didnât respond immediately, her expression unreadable. Finally, she said, âIs that so? Okay,â and walked back to Oliviaâs room.
Meanwhile, Naomiâs condition had caused chaos. She had vomited blood that morning and collapsed after refusing medication, leading to another emergency room visit.
Outside, Hillary had fainted, and Darren was visibly distraught. He cried and prayed for Naomiâs recovery, offering to take her place in suffering.
Through all this, no one seemed to have Olivia on their mind.
Outside, the gloomy sky seemed to mirror the dire situation unfolding inside, seemingly counting down on Naomiâs life.
