Chapter 227
The Beginning Of All Sins
âYou can treat me like a brother if youâd like,â Claude offered.
Olivia looked at Claude, a big smile spreading across her face. âYeah, I will!â
She really admired him, regardless of his past or any issues with the Harris family.
âGo on now.â
She started to leave, but after taking a step, she paused and looked back. âWhy are you so kind to me?â
He pondered for a moment before answering, âMaybe because I feel sorry for you.â
Olivia was surprised to hear that. Still, she smiled and replied, âIâm doing this because I want to. Itâll make me happy to see Naomi get better.â
Little did she know, this was just the beginning of a very tough journey for her, stepping into a role meant for someone else, and carrying a child that linked her to her sisterâs fiance.
Claude watched her hopeful, naive face. âI hope you find happiness every day.â
âAlright, I really should go now,â she said.
âYou know your way back, right?â
âI wonât get lost,â she assured him, shaking her head.
Claude then remembered something else and added, âI also want to say sorry for Sophie⦠about Jacob.
#1 âItâs okay, Claude. Iâve moved on.â
He chuckled, seeing she had let it go. âGood.â
Olivia then quickly left.
Claude stood in the corridor, watching her go.
Olivia returned to Ana almost five minutes later. The latter looked at her and asked, âWhat took you so long?â
âI felt sick suddenly, so I slowed down,â Olivia explained.
âAre you alright now?â Ana asked with concern.
âYes, Iâm feeling better,â Olivia replied quickly.
âJust be careful, especially now. Youâre carrying the familyâs future grandchild,â Ana reminded her seriously.
Naturally, Olivia understood. To them, it wasnât about her; it was about the baby. Nobody was really concerned about her.
âYeah, Iâll be careful,â she agreed.
Ana said flatly, âGo sit on the couch.â
A maid helped her over to the couch.
Olivia had decided sheâd do whatever was asked of her, as long as she didnât offend Ana or affect Naomi.
Sitting down, she looked around at the fancy event, feeling out of place in a world that was so unfamiliar to herâa world she didnât really belong to.
She thought about Naomi, realizing she would have been the one here, mingling gracefully, if she were well.
