Chapter 105
Marrying
Chapter 105
Matthewâs expression immediately turned cold. He put down his knife and fork. and scrutinized Lindsey with a gaze that carried a sense of threat.
âYouâre spying on me?â he said. âTell me. Who have you bought off around me?â
Lindsey became nervous under his gaze. She knew that Matthew hated it when others schemed, so she hurriedly explained. âatthew, youâve got it all wrong. I didnât buy off anyone around you. I secretly.. ind a few group chats of Noria Groupâs employees. I only found out when I saw someone chatting about it there.â out when I saw someone chatting about it there.â
After saying that, she could not suppress her curiosity, so she asked again, âMatthew, is the incident about the box lunch true?â
She knew Matthew was a clean freak and usually avoided eating food made by others. Plus, he had very strict requirements for food, mostly sticking to lowâfat fitness meals. Technically speaking, there was no way he would eat boxed meals made by others..
But if this was true, it meant that there was really another woman by Matthewâs side, and Matthew was highly accepting of her. Just hearing this news made Lindsey unable to contain herself, so she was determined to meet Matthew today to get this matter cleared up.
Matthew didnât want anyone to know about Valerieâs matters, especially now that his grandmother was making plans regarding Valerie. He didnât want things to get complicated..
So, he said coldly, âThis has nothing to do with you.â
Lindsey knew Matthewâs temper well. She knew that he didnât want to answer, so there was no point in pressing further.
But she had her own pride. She immediately said to Matthew, âWell then, Matthew, Iâll make box lunches for you every day from now on.â
She thought, âMatthew and I have known each other for almost ten years. If I lose to my own sister, fine, but I donât believe that Iâd lose to a woman of unknown background!â
Unexpectedly, when Matthew heard this, he immediately asked a question that hit the core of the matter. He said, âBox lunches from someone like you?â
Lindsey was left speechless.
She thought, âMatthew, can you not make your nocking tone that obvious? Sure, I donât know how to make box lunches, but I can lean donât believe that Iâd lose to another woman!â
Valerie was at the office of Arcton Cars.
Starting from next Monday, she would be transferred to Noria Group. Doing the math, these were her final three days at Arcton Cars.
Although Ronald told her to stay in the office and look through documents, Valerie would rather go to the hall to stand guard when she was free. She could technically just stay in the office and not put in much effort, but she chose not to do so. Even if she was leaving and had received her final paycheck, she would still do her job well in the last few days.
However, the car dealership had been relatively quiet in the last two days. By evening, there were hardly any customers. When it was time to get off work, the shop became deserted. One after another, her colleagues rushed to clock out, eager to get off work.
Valerie was in charge of the final cleanup work.
As she was about to go look for a dustpan after sweeping the trash together, a figure appeared and helped her bring the dustpan over.
Upon seeing this person clearly, Valerie was instantly surprised. âItâs you, Mrs. Sophia,â she said. âHow come you are here?
Sophia chuckled and said, âThereâs no need to be so distant. Just call me Sophia. Did you forget that we added each other on WhatsApp the other day? I saw your post about work in your WhatsApp status. Coincidentally, I live not far from here, so I came over to take a look. I didnât expect that I could really bump into you. Valerie, why havenât you gotten off work yet?â

Chapter 103
It was indeed not too far. It was only about 10 miles.
Valerie said, âIâll get off work after cleaning up.â

âAlright.â Sophia said. âIâll help you.â As she spoke, she went to the. corner to pick up.
the mop.
But Valerie was taken aback, and she quickly stopped her. âSophia, this is my job,â she said. âIâll do it myself. Now that you are at the car dealership, you are considered a customer. It wouldnât be right for you to do the work.â
âIâm just helping you.â Sophia said. âItâs fine.â
Valerie did not dare to let her work, so she said, âSophia, please give me the mop.â
However, she did not know that Sophia had planned this for a while. On the way here, Sophia had squeezed several drops of eye drops into her eyes. Her eyes were misty. She blinked and tears welled up in her eyes.
Though I gave birth to three sons, my second son died early, and my eldest and youngest sons are busy with their families and careers,â she said. âUsually, no one is willing to pay attention to an old lady like me. I canât even find someone to talk to. Wal, let me help you. Otherwise, nobody needs me. I donât even know whatâs the point of being alive.â
Valerie and Sophia first met when Valerie saved her on a main road.
Upon hearing Sophia crying and saying that her family did not care about her, Jalerie firmly believed that the person in front of her was an elderly empty nester who had been abandoned by a heartless family.
She could not help but curse inwardly, saying that Sophiaâs children and randchildren were truly useless.
