Chapter 6-
"Okay, No. Harry Potter is way better than Star Trek!" I argued while speaking into my phone.
Trent laughed "Heck no. Harry Potter is lame!"
"Okay, its official. No second date!" I teased.
He gasped in mock horror "I love Harry Potter!" We both laughed and I rolled over on my bed to hug my extra pillow.
"Fine, I guess we can go. When will it be anyway?" I asked. It had been a week since our first date and we had talked on the phone a few times, but no second date yet.
"It would have been sooner, but people keep calling in sick. This weekend?"
"Sure, sounds good." I smiled.
He chuckled "Okay, I'll see you Saturday, I should get back inside. I'll talk to you later."
"Alright, night."
"Night"
And we both hung up.
Talking to Trent was more fun than I thought it would be. The first time he had called we had ended up talking for an hour. The second time it was an hour and a half. Tonight was almost 2 hours, we had talked while he was getting ready for work, driving, at the bar and during his break. I am not sure how he managed that, but he did. He usually called after Paige fell asleep so he wouldn't interrupt our family time, which was oddly sweet. Id realized that his image did but also didn't really fit with his personality.
Trent was...nice, and sometimes sweet and kind of considerate, but he could also be serious and a little badass. I laughed to myself and pulled the covers up over me. Maybe this dating thing wouldn't be so hard.
With that thought, I fell asleep.
----------
I woke up to my alarm chirping noisily and sunlight streaming through my blinds. I slammed my hand down on the off button and rolled over. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and grabbed a towel to take a shower. Paige wasn't jumping on my bed so she must still be asleep. I turned the water on and jumped in so that the cold water could wake me up. It soon turned warm and I quickly finished my shampooing and washing. I turned the water off and stepped out, grabbing the towel to dry myself off. I wrapped it around my waist after drying off and walked down the hall to Paige's room. I opened her door and peeked in, still sleeping. She really was adorable while sleeping.
"Paige! Time to get up!"
She rolled over but did not get up. Most mornings she was hyper and ready to go, but there were some mornings where she refused to get up and join the world.
"Paiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggeeeeeeee. Honey, time to get up."
"No thank you." She replied and I laughed at her.
"I made chocolate chip waffles!"
She jolted up "Really?"
"No, but please get up, I'll make them in a few. But only if you're ready when I get to the kitchen."
She jumped out of bed and ran to her closet. I chuckled and turned around to go back to my room and get dressed. Chocolate always worked with Paige. I grabbed my slacks and button down and got dressed after brushing my teeth and doing my hair. I was a tiny bit scruffy but nothing bad. I grabbed my wallet and keys and took them to the kitchen. Paige was sitting at the table impatiently, swinging her legs back and forth.
"Daddy! You take forever." she grumbled.
I smiled and shook my head, impatient child. I reached into the freezer and grabbed the box of Chocolate Chip Waffles. I was not exactly the best cook, but Paige didn't mind as long as there was chocolate involved. I could make some stuff, and I usually cooked for dinner, but breakfast food was not my forte. I popped them into the toaster and grabbed a plate out of the cabinet. I grabbed a glass and poured milk into it. The waffles popped up a minute later and I carried the glass and plate to the table.
I placed them in front of Paige, and she dug in. I shook my head and went back into the kitchen to drink a glass of orange juice. I never really ate breakfast, didn't like it too much. Paige was done quickly, and I grabbed her bag before walking out to the car. She jumped into the back seat and I buckled her in. I got into the driver's seat and we pulled out, heading to Elise's. When we pulled up Elise opened her door just as Paige ran though, Elise laughed and waved me in.
I grabbed her bag and walked into the house. Paige was already chatting with Owen and playing with the toys. I walked into the kitchen where Elise was standing.
"Sooo? Are you still talking to that hottie?"
I sighed; she would never quit. "Trent! And yes, I am. He's...a nice guy."
She scoffed "And freakin hot!"
I turned around "Bye Eliseee!" I called as I walked out.
"Awe come on! I need gossip." She yelled.
I laughed and waved goodbye before getting in my car and going to work.
All day I thought about our date tomorrow, wondering what we would do. If we would kiss again.
Hey! That guy has nice lips, I cannot help but lust after them. What seemed like years later I was finished with work and heading to Elise's. I asked Elise if she could babysit tomorrow night, and after confirming it was for a 'hot date' she said yes. Paige jumped into the car and we pulled out.
"What do you think we should have for dinner, munchkin." I had, had to work late so it was closer to dinner time than usual.
"PIZZA." She screamed.
"Jeez Paige, don't break my ear drum!"
She giggled "Sorry daddy!"
We went into the tore and grabbed all the ingredients Paige wanted on her pizza and left. When we got home, I turned on the oven and we put 3 pizzas together. My daughter was a pig, hands down. But it was adorable. We put them in the oven and decided it was Pajama time. Paige changed into her dinosaur pajamas and I changed into the grizzly bear ones Elise bought me as a joke last Christmas. We turned on a Disney movie, which I didn't mind watching.
I am a kid at heart sometimes.
The pizzas were done 30 minutes later, and we cut them up before piling them plates and setting them on the coffee table. We ate too much and watched the movie; Paige fell asleep towards the end and I couldn't help but follow her lead.
----------
I woke up with one thought. Today was our second date.
Mental happy dance. Do not judge me.
I got out of bed, where I had moved to after carrying Paige to bed around 3 in the morning. I pulled on some pajama pants since it had been too hot to wear them and went to wake up Paige.
We did our usual Saturday routine, finished with Ice cream of course and I dropped her off at Elise's explaining that I was going on another date.
"With that pretty guy?"
"Yes, with that pretty guy." I chuckled.
"Okay!" and she ran off to play with Owen.
I waved to Elise and left to get ready for my date.
I still had a couple hours, so I did some cleaning.
Dishes, Toys, and laundry.
Paige had way too many toys. I probably spoiled her too much in that department.
Yeaaahh. Probably. Oh well.
I finished all those chores and realized I had a little less than an hour to get ready. I ran to my bathroom and started the shower before jumping in. I got out, brushed my teeth, shaved, did my hair, and got dressed just in time to hear the doorbell ring.
Perfect timing.
I walked to the door and opened it. Elise was right, he was freakin hot.
Trent winked "Like what you see?"
I blushed a little "Maybe, maybe not."
He laughed "Ready to go?"
I walked out and locked the door "Yep."
He grabbed my hand and we walked down the walkway. That is when I noticed the motorcycle.
Heck no. I stopped, which made Trent yank my hand and he turned around with a confused look.
"What's wrong?"
"I am not riding on that death machine."
He laughed "It's not a death machine. Just trust me." And he tugged me over to it.
He handed me a helmet and I put it on shakily. He chuckled and got on to start the engine. I got on behind him and grabbed his waist.
Gulp.
I was going to die tonight.
