Chapter 502
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison
Vanessa said that, then spoke politely at Anna.
âHello, Princess. Iâm Vanessa, Alfredâs wife.â
The princess of Svero simply shot her a sidelong glance, then exchanged some words with Alfredâs mother.
Then she turned and sat down in the living room, treating Vanessa like she was just air.
Elsie was already frowning, and with her personality from before, sheâd probably already be going up and hitting people.
Vanessa tugged on her hand, signaling for her to stay calm.
Afterwards, Isabel told Vanessa to go wait somewhere else. She wanted to speak alone with the princess of Svero.
Vanessa took an increasingly irritable Elsie outside the mansion.
âWhat does Alfredâs mother mean by that? Sheâs your mother-in-law now, but sheâs bringing another woman over here to step all over you? Is she nuts?â
Elsie raged, while Vanessa sighed.
âI donât know whatâs up with Isabel, but she never seemed satisfied with me. Sheâs never intervened in my life or Alfredâs though. Just reminded me not to embarrass us when we had banquets or gatherings. She wouldnât even look at the children. But the way she looks at me seems more and more dissatisfied lately. Back then, Alfred had said that heâd already resolved the situation, but I donât know whatâs going on.
âLooking at the way it is now, it still seems like it isnât over yet.â
Alfred had said heâd take care of Vanessa, but now he was just letting his mother humiliate her like that. Elsie grew angry.
âIt might not be convenient to go over to Georgia, but compared to staying in G City, how about we switch locations. Look at what Alfredâs mother is bringing that woman here today and doing. Iâve heard about the scandal with Alfred and that princess. Do you think he wants to divorce you?â
Vanessa went pale.
âElsie, even you think Alfredâs going to abandon me and the child? How could he do such a thing? He said heâd look over me forever. Do menâs hearts change that easily? Or was I wrong to trust him? I donât remember a thing. He was good to me after I woke up. We loved each other in the past too. Why do men always break their word?
âI can feel it, Elsie. You and Georgia arenât telling me something. Before I lost my memory, did a lot of unhappy things happen between Alfred and me? Sometimes, I can sense that the two of you donât like him very much, and donât agree with my decision to be with him. But then you seemed to fall silent in the end. Why is that?â
Vanessa spoke sorrowfully, while Elsie went on alert.
Her damn temper was making her mouth loose again. She knew she wasnât supposed to bring up all those sensitive subjects before her, causing her to suspect the past. She just had to complain and make her sad and suspicious.
âIâm just an ill-tempered person, Vanessa. Alfredâs mother doesnât mean much and Alfred doesnât mean much. If he really says heâs going to divorce you or if he humiliates you, Iâm going to take you away with me right away. With me here, I wonât let the Chow family hurt you.â
Vanessa finally cracked a tiny smile.
âYouâre right. Alfredâs hid a lot of things from me, but heâs always been good to me and the children. That business with the princess of Svero seems like it just looks worse than is. I shouldnât distrust him over this sort of thing. Besides, he hasnât come back home yet, and his mother hasnât gone too far. Weâll avoid them and wait for Alfred to come home.â
Elsie heaved a sigh of relief. She was in a difficult position right now. If Georgia hadnât been too busy, she definitely wouldnât have been able to resist calling her and asking what to do.
Sheâd wondered if it would be a good thing to restore Vanessaâs memory.
But now, she was sure that this sort of quiet, peaceful life was exactly what she needed.
So she hoped that Vanessa wouldnât come up with anything, and just remain an amnesiac.
But Alfred seemed to be the problem, which Elsie couldnât stand.
She didnât dare leave even a bit, for fear of something happening to Vanessa again.
Considering that, she sighed.
Wilson was too busy too, or she could call him to ask about it as well. There was nobody she could chat with right now.
That night, Ivanâs private jet arrived at the airport.
After he got off, Jasperâs car was stopped at the carpark, and he took Ivan in straight away.

âDidnât I tell you not to pick me up? Youâre busy with that much already. Oh, right, howâs Selena doing?â
âIâm not busy with too much, actually. You must have a lot you need my help with, so I just decided to pick you up. As for Selena, sheâs fluctuating between moods. The childâs still missing, and her depression is worsening. There were moments when the bodyguards werenât aware and she tried to kill herself.
âIâve put people on twenty-four-hour watch, but if itâs too tight, itâll cause great mental stress, so I can only get people close enough to her to stay around, or more easygoing people to chat with her. I donât know what to do.
âEven doctors canât do anything about depression. They can only issue medication to keep the situation from getting worse. If we want to fix Selena, weâll have to find the kid back.â
Jasper sighed, and Ivan comforted him straight away.
âI can recommend one of the best psychiatrists in the world. Theyâre better at doing therapy.â
Jasper smiled gratefully.
âIâll take you up on that. Iâve actually gotten in contact with a lot of leading psychiatrists internationally already. But I know my sister. The thing weighing on her mind is the child. If we canât find the child, I donât feel like sheâs going to get better. I can only keep her from getting worse for now.â
At that, Jasper and Ivan both sighed worriedly.
Bad things had a way of snowballing. Jasperâs side had problems, while the same was true for Robert. Everyone was down and heavy, and couldnât find anything happy about life.
âHave there been no traces of the kid? Weâve got no idea who did it?â
