Chapter 413
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison
âI was an ill-tempered boy when I was young. I had all sorts of mad ideas and aggressive urges, and with the things I did and thought back, then, Iâd just look like a fool right now. You wonât like me anymore if you saw.â
After all, when he was ten or so, Aidan left the family. Losing his father, Robert had grown rebellious for a while.
He started trouble, started fights, taking out his temper on the whole world as if it owed him for it.
Back then, he was just an idiot, and even more idiotically, heâd recorded all those angry thoughts on his diary.
So Robert firmly refused to have Mrs. Simpson see those diaries.
He was sure that her impression of him would crumble once she saw those entries.
At least before his own wife, he was still a stand-up man. If she saw those diaries, she might just think of him as an impulsive, unreasonable moron.
And he couldnât have that.
âThen that diary should have cleared it all up if you havenât recalled your memories. Those entries should have recorded all your big events, Iâm guessing.â
Robert nodded with some difficulty.
âIt goes all the way up to high school, and there werenât many entries after that. Iâm guessing I turned normal at that time.
âI donât remember too much of the pat, but my personality hasnât changed, so looking at those things, I can mostly guess at whatâs happened. Do you really care that I havenât recalled my memories?â
The two laid in bed, in each otherâs embrace, and Robert asked curiously.
The one thing he minded the most was that heâd forgotten the memories of love the two shared, and he didnât know if his Mrs. Simpson minded it as well.
âItâs also fine if you donât remember.â
Georgia suddenly smiled.
âWe can just be like this, spending every day happily. As for the past memories, letâs just see what comes. I donât mind if you recalled them, and you donât have to force yourself, either. If you somehow remember one day, then fate had that in mind. We donât need to force anything to try to make you remember.â
For herself, Georgia didnât mind Robert being unable to recall his past. After all, they were just as loving now.
Also, she wasnât sure how much nerve damage Robert had sustained.
If they tried to fix his memory, she was afraid itâd damage his body even more.
If that was the case, might as well go at it like this, and take things as they came.
The pair started chatting about when they were young, then eventually fell asleep.
That night, Jasper drank a glass of water as he usually did, then fell into an unusually deep sleep.
Outside the bedroom, the doctors, the nurses, and Jasperâs parents Bailey and Elliot were waiting outside.
The nurses went in to confirm that Jasper had taken the sleeping drug, then several of them went in, dressed Jasper again, and put him on a stretcher.
Then the group rolled Jasper to the surgery room.
On the other end, Selena had gotten dressed and laid down on the bed, and the two were pushed into the operating theatre together.
Before they could go under, Elliot gripped Selenaâs hand.
âYour father and I will keep watch over you two outside. Jasperâs just too stubborn, so we can only do this. Iâm sorry, Selena. And Iâm so grateful.â
As Elliot said that, Selena was wheeled inside, and the door shut completely.
Elliotâs face grew worrisome, and Bailey walked over, holding his wifeâs hand.
âThe surgery isnât dangerous, so donât be too anxious. Weâll just wait outside for the good news. The surgeons are the top experts of the world. Itâll be fine.â
âIâm not worried that the surgery will fail, dear, Iâm just worried that Jasperâs going to throw a fit tomorrow when he wakes up. If he lost his temper just after he had his surgery, Iâm worried itâll affect his recovery. Heâs never agreed to this, and I donât know if heâll forgive us for forcing him to do this.â
For all this while, Jasper and Selena had been in a stalemate.
Selena wanted her brother to have the operation immediately. She was willing to donate her kidney, but Jasper wouldnât have it.
Jasper didnât want his sisterâs kidney, but nothing had turned up on the black market, and his condition had worsened. Not to the point of death, of course, but enough to make Selena, Elliot and Bailey worry.
Elliot was especially worried. Her son never compromised and was ridiculously obstinate. Trying to convince him to let Selena donate her kidney was basically impossible.
As a mother whoâd already lost her daughter, Elliot agreed to Selenaâs suggestion.
They decided to face Jasperâs wrath after the surgery was done.
After all, for Jasper, itâd just been one nightâs sleep. When he woke, the surgery would be complete.
And Jasperâs body would slowly recover. Elliot had no regrets.
She was just afraid that Jasper wouldnât forgive them as parents.
Bailey sighed as well. He knew what kind of personality his son had.
Stubborn like a mule.
âDonât think about if heâll be angry. If he can live on in good health, we should do it even if heâll hate us forever, right?â
Bailey finished, and Elliotâs eyes reddened.
âItâs all thanks to Selenaâs insistence this time. She really does care about Jasper, and Dan is looking healthier and cuter every day. I canât even bear to have Selena pick him up. I was wrong before. Selena only means the best for her brother. From now on, we have to treat her better.â
âYou finally get it.â
Bailey smiled.
âWe raised Selena, and sheâs our adopted daughter. Sheâs always been a good, obedient girl. You canât blame young people for their feelings.
Selenaâs always known that Jasperâs not her birth brother, and Jasperâs always been so nice to her. Of course sheâd feel that way.
âNow that the childâs been born, when Jasper gets better, letâs see if thereâs some way we can match them together. If there isnât, weâll hide it for the rest of our lives, and treat Selena well for the rest of our lives.â

It was impossible to tell if Jasper was going to throw a huge tantrum when he woke tomorrow. She turned to Bailey again.
âMaybe we should have his friends over to soothe him. Otherwise, he might hurt himself.â
âYou mean having Jason and Robert over?â
Elliot nodded.
âLetâs give them a call tomorrow morning. Jasper probably wonât wake up from the operation until at least the afternoon. If there were more people around, at least he might be a bit more restrained.â
As the two spoke, they ran into Ivan outside by chance.
âWhat are you two doing outside the operation room so late, Mr. and Mrs. Holland?â
