Chapter 392
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison
Seeing the Professorâs number, Georgia suddenly realized something.
Back then, Emilia had asked her to help look after Aston, but with all the events surrounding her for this while, sheâd actually forgotten about it.
Had Aston come back to the country already?
Her instincts told her that Professor Leeâs call had something to do with Aston.
Georgia took her phone, went outside into the garden, and took the call.
âHello, Professor Lee.â
âAre you done with what youâre busy with, Georgia? I saw online that Robert wasnât dead. Congratulations.â
Benjamin Leeâs voice was as gentle and kind as always. Georgia smiled.
âIâm almost done, Professor. I was thinking of when to talk to you about coming back to work. Iâve got a small lab at home myself, but I donât have a lot of large-scale lab tools here. Besides, itâs hard to achieve anything being shut up alone. When Iâve resolved one pressing matter, Iâll come back to work.â
Hearing Georgia say that, Lee was pretty happy.
âI was worried you wouldnât come in to work, too. But Robertâs not gone, and thinking about it, youâll definitely recover. Back then when I saw news of Robertâs death, I didnât dare call to ask you if you were willing to come back.â
The two chatted about their respective situations, and Lee finally moved on to the matter at hand.
âYou know how Astonâs come back to the country, right?â
Georgia nodded.
âI know heâs come back recently, but Iâve been too busy on my end to notice which day itâd been. Is he back at MU already?â
âIâd been happy he came back when you couldnât, and Iâd even assigned some extra tasks for him hoping he could finish them early. But somethingâs been off with him ever since he came back. Itâs not that heâs not taking his experiments seriously. Itâs that heâs taking them too seriously. Astonâs almost shut himself entirely into the lab and isnât going home at all. Heâs just up and resting in the lab.
âIâd tried persuading him and telling him not to go at it so hard. Our lab doesnât have any set objectives anyway, and health is the most important. He wouldnât listen at all, and I could only let him be. I can guess at what happened to him and how heâs trying to distract himself with work. But this morning, he hadnât even gone in to work when the other lab staff gave me a call and said that Astonâs fainted in the lab. Heâs in hospital right now.
From what the doctors say, heâs worked several all-nighters in a row. With the weather being especially cold recently, he went and came down with the flu, so heâd lost consciousness right then and there.
âAside from that, the doctors also found that his stomach is acting up again. Stomach bugs are especially serious right now, and he needs to heal up inside the hospital. I already visited him once, and that son of a gun actually wants to leave right away and go back to experimenting in the lab. I stopped him right away, but looking at him, I donât think heâll listen to me. I remember you always had a good relationship with Aston, Georgia. You might have gotten a bit distant before, but go visit him and persuade him, will you? Something seemed off with him ever since you two went overseas together, and I think you might know what happened. Please talk to him. No matter what it is, he canât hurt his own body. Heâs got a long life ahead of him.â
Professor Leeâs voice was heavy, and it seemed like he really was worried about Aston.
Emilia had expected such a result. No wonder sheâd asked Georgia all that when they chatted and had to have her look after Aston, in case he really did run himself ragged.
âWhereâs his hospital ward, Professor? Iâll go see him.â
There was nothing else to do this morning, and Georgia felt like she had to see Aston and talk with him.
Not just because Emilia asked her to. Aston was her friend and now her cousin, too. She couldnât leave him like this.
After hanging up, Robert walked to Georgiaâs side.
âWhy did Professor Lee call? Is he rushing to have you back at work now?â
Georgia smiled.
âYouâre half right. Thereâs one other thing. Itâs got to do with Aston. Oh, right, Astonâs my cousin now.â
Georgia explained her motherâs relationship with Aston.
âWhen is his birthday? Between the two of us, whoâs the elder?â
Robert suddenly asked. Georgia went speechless for a while. She actually didnât know.

Astonâs in hospital right now, letâs go meet him. Itâs just right; you can go meet him too. After all, he still hasnât seen you after you came back from the dead.â
Georgia had Ivan look after Annie, and she drove to the hospital with Robert.
On the way, Georgia explained briefly why Aston was sick, and also talked a bit about Kayden and Laurence.
After all, Robert still didnât recall those things right now, and Georgia could only give a rough outline of what had once happened.
âSpeaking of it all, Laurence probably still blames me for this. Back then, I misunderstood you, got him involved and he lost his legs. Thatâs why he kept trying to take revenge on me.â
Robert summarized that much from Georgiaâs recollections, looking a bit guilty.
Georgia hurriedly shook her head at him.
âWeâre all somewhat responsible. I feel like I owe Mr. Knight too. But we were all victims. If Emma and Owen hadnât lied back then about the perpetrator of the car accident, let Eden go free, and framed me for being the person who killed your sister, all this wouldnât have happened between the two of us, and innocents wouldnât have been involved. Eden is the one most to blame. Emma and Owen were only accomplices.â
Speaking of that, Georgia spoke of another thing.
âYou didnât ask about it when I went out last night, but Sierra has already admitted to me that sheâs Emma Lane.â
When it came to Robert and Georgiaâs past and relationship with Emma, Robert had only gotten a brief understanding with his own investigation. He turned to Georgia, incredulous.
âWhy did I take a liking to Emma Lane in the beginning? Even having her be my fiancé for five years?â
