Chapter 381
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison
Georgia wailed as she hammered Robertâs chest with her fists, her sobs wracking her body.
Sheâd heard too much about this sort of human experimentation, and those secrets of the shadows were often utterly bone-chilling.
Those black-hearted laboratories often drew their live humans, perhaps friendless people with no family, from war-torn countries.
Those people would end up dying badly, in horrific conditions.
Of course, different experiments ended up in different ways. Georgia had only heard a few behind-the-scenes secrets, but it was enough to terrify her.
âOkay, okay... weâll go to the hospital for a check-up, so donât be so sad, all right?â
Robertâs voice was still gentle as he supported Georgia, who was barely able to stand, towards the house.
Georgia leant on his shoulder, until her legs gave out and Robert ended up picking her up.
Before reaching the mansion doors, Georgia saw Annie swinging on the garden swing with Ivan, and as they approached, Annie ran over excitedly.
âDaddy, Mommy, you two went to take a nap in secret! I waited for you for so long! If Uncle Ivan hadnât played with me all along, I would have gotten mad.â
Annie ran over and said that, then showed a shy smile.
âYouâre so old now, Mommy, and youâre still having Daddy carry you!â
Georgia buried her head in Robertâs arms. Her eyes were swollen from crying, and she didnât want Annie to see them at all.
âWhy are you still snuggling with Daddy like youâre shy, Mommy? I want Daddy to hug me too, come down!â
Annie said playfully, but Georgia still kept her head nestled in Robertâs chest, afraid that Annie would find something off with her.
Robert turned to Annie and started comforting her.
âMommy has a headache. Annie, go play with your uncle first. Iâll carry your Mommy to bed to rest first, and I can come back to play with you later, okay?â
At that, Annie showed a worried expression.
âAre you sick, Mommy?â
Georgia replied weakly.
âMy head just hurts for now. Iâll be fine after I rest up for a while. Donât bother with me, Annie, Mommy is fine.â
Ivan noticed that something was vaguely off, and smiled down at Annie.
âLetâs let your Mommy rest for now. Iâll play with you instead. You donât hate that, right?â
Annieâs attention was distracted, and even though she was still worried about her mother, she still went with Ivanâs suggestion and let Robert carry Georgia inside the mansion.
Georgiaâs forcibly supported emotions crumbled the moment she entered the house, and she held Robert, sniffling quietly.
Her tears were about to soak Robertâs clothes through entirely.
Georgia let Robert carry her into the bedroom, and as the door closed, she turned towards him and spoke.
âYou have the right not to say anything, and you can very well go on lying to me that everything is fine. Iâll believe you, but you have to go and do a full body check first. I want to see a complete report on everything. Then we can decide what to do! Robert, you have to be serious about this. Didnât you want to see Annie married, and see the two of us grow old together?
âIf youâre going to be irresponsible about your own body, then Iâll take up the responsibility. Iâll be the tough guy. Even if you hate it, I wonât leave you like this.â
Robert sighed at Georgia.
âI havenât felt anything off with my body. Maybe I was just feeling good about it. But youâre right about one thing. I donât know when I lost my memory, so even though I didnât think I spent too long in the lab, I donât know if thatâs the right conclusion. Itâs late, and itâs too much trouble to go to the hospital. Itâs going to attract attention, too. The media has their eyes on us. Letâs go tomorrow. At least, when youâve settled your own emotions. We can go to the hospital tomorrow. I wonât ignore this anymore, and Iâll seriously check up on my body. If thereâs a problem, weâll cure it together. Iâm not going to be the person who runs away.â
That answer barely satisfied Georgia, but she was still unhappy with Robertâs behavior today.
âWe were going to ask Sierra so many things, but that reveal from her disrupted all our plans. What are you going to do with her from this point on?
We canât keep her here illegally all the time. If we have evidence of her committing a crime, weâd best deliver her to prison.â
âWeâll have to wait. The evidence of her crimes is overseas. She did a lot of things to lie to me back then, and I canât do anything about her in the country right now.â
Obviously Robert had his own arrangements, so Georgia didnât ask on.
Besides, both she and Robert needed to confirm if Sierra Moon was actually Emma Lane.
They were supposed to ask Sierra about it today, but then sheâd revealed the human experimentation, and Georgia had forgotten entirely about it in the moment.
âForget it. Weâll ask her about it some other time.â
Head aching, Georgia fell asleep on the bed right away.
At night, she even had a fever, but it was low, and she could still maintain consciousness. Robert took care of her by her side all along.
She slept in a groggy mess for a while night, and the fever faded the following the morning.
She took a shower, and her whole being was refreshed.
âThe servants are back. I had the chef make some porridge. Itâs not greasy at all, so hurry up and fill your stomach. You didnât eat anything last night.â
Georgia had just freshened up, gotten dressed and walked out when Robert spoke gently to her.
Robert looked a bit tired, probably because heâd taken care of her for an entire night. Georgia nodded.
âLetâs go. We can go get breakfast first. What about Anne? Was she frightened last night?â
âSheâs fine. Ivan stayed with her all through the while. And your fever was low. She was worried, but she still slept well. She came over and looked on you a few times. Now that youâre awake, sheâs waiting for you to eat breakfast in the dining room.â
Georgia relaxed. Robert was actually getting ready to help her towards the dining room to eat, and Georgia chuckled.
âIâm not that fragile. Itâs just a low fever. Iâm feeling energetic again now. Iâll be fit as a fiddle after breakfast. Letâs go. No need to carry me.â
The two reached the restaurant and Annie cried for them excitedly.
âYouâre here, Daddy, Mommy, I was waiting for you for so long! But Mommy, youâre still sick and you can only eat porridge. I have so much good food here, will you get jealous? Maybe Iâll just have the porridge with you, in case you canât hold back.â

âSilly girl, Mommyâs an adult now, and she can control herself, you know? When Iâm better, Iâll fight over breakfast with you.â
The family ate a happy, harmonious breakfast.
Georgia got ready to bring Robert to hospital, but unexpectedly, Jason had followed Elsie and Wilson to Robertâs mansion.
Naturally, the moment Jason set foot inside, he shot a mocking look at Robert.
âIâm impressed that you could lie to a brother of so many years with something like this. Iâm telling you, if Jasper hadnât been confined to his sickbed, Iâd been planning to beat you up along with him. Tell me, where do you think we should hit you? We need to put you through some proper pain before we feel better about it!â
Georgia knew that Jason was just joking around between the guys, and even if they did do something, it wouldnât get too serious, but she still rebuked him reflexively.
âThat wonât do. Robert is going to the hospital with me right away. I need him to do a full body check. You canât joke around like this with him. Iâm afraid that his body has issues.â
