Chapter 7
Rejected Lovers
Chapter Seven - Movie Nights
It's finally Friday evening and Arcadia, Elias, Emilia, Leon and a few other people from the pack are heading into the city to go bowling. I change into black jeans, a white t-shirt, white sneakers and grab my camel colored coat on the way out just in case I get cold. I make my way to the pack house and hear a few excited voices in the main room. But before I can step in that direction Atticus comes out of the hallway to my right. He smiles once he sees me and I return the gesture.
"Hey, Livi. It's good that you're here. I wanted to as if you want to go into the city and hangout or something?" He asks and I bite my lip as I see the group heading our way.
"I'm sorry Atticus but we've already made plans." I watch as he turns to his pack members.
"We're going bowling!" Elias grins as he walks past us. "I think we might have food too so we'll probably be back by eight."
"Why don't you join us?" I ask as the group makes their way to the front door.
"I have a call at seven so I'd have to leave anyways." He sighs before shaking his head.
"How about tomorrow?" I feel so bad now because he wanted to spend time with me. Because he's the Alpha I don't get to see him all that much and I do miss him. It's been two weeks since we went on that run.
"I have meetings all day tomorrow." He replies and I watch his eyes harden at something behind me. I turn to see Leon smiling widely and waving me over. "Never mind. Go have fun."
"Atticus..." I trail off as he turns and walks away.
Sighing, I bite my lip as I debate on what to do. An idea forms in my mind as I turn to the group. Since he'll be free after seven I can come back home and spend time with him then. I head out with the group to the cars waiting for us and we get to the city within twenty minutes.
The driver drops us off and we make our way inside to find a bowling alley, billiard tables and laser tag. They also serve food and we decide to grab some light snacks before we start bowling. We play three rounds and I come second in the last round surprisingly considering how badly I thought I played. After, some of us have a game of laser tag whereas others go to the arcade games or the billiard table.
I laugh as I hear Emilia curse loudly in the dark maze while Arcadia cackles evilly. But as my attention is elsewhere Elias manages to get me and I groan in defeat as he shouts victoriously. We play for a bit longer before the game ends and we head out to the billiards game happening between Leon and Elias.
I spend the rest of my time chatting to everyone as the game becomes more and more intense. But eventually, Elias wins and smirks smugly at Leon who only groans dramatically in response. However, when I check my phone afterwards, I realize there's thirty minutes left until seven o'clock.
"Where are we heading for dinner?" Leon asks as we exit the building.
"Actually, I'm going to skip dinner." I state and make up an excuse as everyone turns to me. "I'm not feeling well."
"Do you want any of us to come with you?" Arcadia asks worriedly.
"No, I'll be okay." I smile at her before waving goodbye to the group and making my way to the driver.
I ask him to drive me to the closest grocery store which turns out to be only ten minutes away. I rush inside to grab some snacks and drinks that Atticus and I like along with some new things to try out. Paying for the items quickly I make my way back to the car and ask the driver to take me back to the pack.
Eventually, he pulls up to the Alpha house fifteen minutes past seven and I thank him before getting out. Grabbing the bag full of junk food, I hurry inside and quickly change into more comfy clothes in my room before following Atticus' scent to his bedroom. I knock on the door and enter when he tells me to come in. He's sitting on his bed dressed in a navy t-shirt with black sweatpants.
"I thought you would be back by eight." He mutters as he changes the channel.
"Well, I skipped dinner."
"Why?" He narrows his eyes on me in confusion.
"Because I miss our movie nights." I walk over to him and put the bag of junk food on the bed. "Pick out something good."
He stares at me for a long moment and the emotion in his eyes is indecipherable. Finally, a small smile blooms across his lips as he shakes his head in amusement. I grin at the sight of his mood lifting before sitting beside him and taking out everything I bought. He drapes his arm across my shoulders as I pass him his favorite chocolates and chips.
"Atticus!" I whine in frustration when I see that he picked out what looks like an action movie.
"You told me to pick so shut up!" He teases as he pulls me against him. "Did you have fun?"
"Yes! We went to a bowling alley in the city where there's laser tag, arcade games and stuff!" I grin as I pop open a can of coca cola. "How was your call?"
"Boring as always." He rolls his eyes playfully. "It's just the regular meetings between The Council and I to see how the pack is doing."
I hum thoughtfully as I stuff my face with chips while my attention gets captured by the scene playing. We spend the rest of the evening eating our weight in junk food and Atticus trying to shut me up from commenting throughout the film. Eventually he pulls me on top of him and mushes my face against his chest with a loud "shut the hell up!" which made me chuckle evilly.

I wake up sometime later only to find myself surrounded by the familiar territory of the Red River pack. My heart pounds as I see the pack standing a few feet away and sneering at me in disgust. I turn to see myself outside the Alpha house and Vincent standing with an evil smirk on his lips.
"What?" I whisper in shock as I stumble back a few steps. "What happened? How did I get back here?"
In an instant he's before me. I shriek when he tangles his hand into my hair and tugs harshly. Pain erupts in my neck from my head being pulled back so far and I grab Vincent's wrist to try to loosen his hold. His hot breath fans across my skin as he leans in with a dark chuckle.
"I found you, Olivia. And this time you're never going to see the light of day again!" He snarls before dragging me by my hair.
"Let me go!" I scream and struggle against his grip when I see him pulling me towards the pack prison. "No! You can't do this!"
"You betrayed me! Disobeyed my orders!" He roars before throwing me into a cell. I run back to try and get out before he closes the door but he steps in and just slams me up against the concrete wall. "Now, you'll pay!"
I punch and kick him with all my might when he grabs the wolfsbane laced whip with a wicked smile. But it's no use because it's like the energy has been drained from me. A bloodcurdling scream escapes me when he starts to whip me. I can't move. My body feels weighed down. Everything hurts. Everything burns.
"Stop! Stop, please!" I cry in pain as blood drips to the floor from my open wounds.
I hear numerous people laughing at my misery and pain which only makes me cry harder. Heavy despair fills me when I realize that nobody will help me. I'm stuck here forever for Vincent to do as he pleases.
"Olivia!" I hear as my eyelids droop from exhaustion. "Olivia! Olivia!"
"Help." I murmur weakly as the pool of my blood stains my clothes.
"Livi! Olivia! Wake up!" I jolt as my eyes open to find Atticus hovering above with a concerned look.
I look around in confusion and realize that I fell asleep as we were watching the movie. But I assume Atticus did too as the television is off as well as the lights. Night has fallen outside and the stars have come out to play. My gaze lands on the digital clock on the bedside table and I see that it is two in the morning right now.
"S-Sorry...I-I had a bad dream." I mutter before taking the glass of water from his hand.
"About Vincent?" He asks and my gaze snaps to his.
"Yes." I whisper as I put the now empty glass down. "I had a dream that I was back in his pack again and this time there was no way out."
"Olivia." He murmurs lowly as he lays back down beside me and pulls me against him. "I've sent some warriors to keep an eye on him. So far he hasn't made any moves and even if he does we'll be ready for him."
I nod but the fear brewing inside me refuses to disappear. "I'm sorry. I know that I'm safe here but I can't help but worry. Vincent is impulsive and he would never take my betrayal lightly."
"Perhaps he's planning something?" He wonders aloud and I stiffen in response.
I push myself up by my elbow as I turn to him. "Then maybe I should â"
"Don't finish that sentence, Livi." He growls warningly as his eyes darken. "And don't try to reason with me. You're not leaving and that's final."
We stare at each other and I know no matter how much I protest he's going to remain stubborn. "I just don't want him to hurt you."
"And I don't want him to hurt you." He stresses as he turns to me and grips my chin lightly. "Promise me you won't leave no matter what happens."
"Atticus, you're â"
"Completely right and I will agree with you." He jokes but his eyes still hold some seriousness to them.
I glare at him and he glares right back which causes me to huff. "Fine! I promise!"
Immediately, a smug smirk graces his lips and I smack his chest in annoyance. He growls playfully and begins to tickle me which causes me to laugh loudly and beg for him to stop. He eventually shows mercy and stops before pushing himself to lay between my legs. My breath hitches at the action and thankfully he doesn't notice.
He cups my face and stares at me tenderly as his thumbs caress my skin. I find my eyelids fluttering shut and a deep sigh escapes me as I relax. A smile blooms across my lips as he peppers kisses to every inch of my face and I open my eyes to find him grinning down at me. Oh Atticus, what are you doing to me? I think to myself as butterflies flutter crazily in my tummy.
"Let me care for you and protect you." He murmurs lowly as his golden honey eyes roam over every feature of my face before they settle on my emerald greens. "I don't want you to spend even a minute worrying about him anymore."
"Okay." I reply softly which makes him smile satisfactorily.
"Good." He grins as he lays down beside me and tucks me into his side. "Now try and go back to sleep otherwise you'll scare me in the morning with your sleep deprived face â ow!"
I grumble under my breath as I cuddle up to him which makes him laugh. He presses a soft kiss to the top of my head before pulling the blanket tighter around us. And with a content sigh I drift off to sleep with a certain honey eyed Alpha sweetening up my dream.
