Chapter 10

Hickeys but no Kisses- Sabanna

Sab pov-

Anna is in the bathroom brushing her teeth, so I decided to pick out some clothes for her. I grabbed some green cargo pants and an oversized black shirt. I cracked the bathroom door and tossed them in to her.

I grab my backpack and put in two sweatshirts and some food.

Anna walked out of the bathroom and she looked amazing. “Damn, I have good taste in clothes,” I said laughing as she walked over to me like she was on a runway.

“Are you ready to leave?” I asked her. She nodded her head and walked over to the door. “Wait, where are we going?” she asked, turning to me. “It’s a surprise,” I responded, “I think you will like it.” She crossed her arms and pouted, “Please.” “Nope, you’ll have to see when we get there.”

We walked out of the dorm room and started walking. I didn’t tell Anna where we were going, so it is going to be a surprise.

As we were walking I saw Maria get out of class. She looked over our way and we made eye contact. I didn’t originally have a problem with her, but because of what she did to Anna the sight of her made me angry. I looked at Anna and I don’t think she saw her. Maria started to walk our way, but I turned so that Anna and I were walking further away from her.

I saw Maria walk out of class and tried to ignore her so my date with Sab wouldn’t be ruined. Date? Wait, no it’s not a date. Well, is it? She probably doesn’t even actually like me. She probably just wants to mess with me.

I looked over at Sab as she pulled me in a different direction. She looked angry enough that steam could be flying out of her ears. Her eyes fumed with rage. I realized she had turned away from Maria trying to make sure I hadn’t seen her.

I reached down and grabbed Sab’s hand, and interlocked our fingers together. I squeezed her hand and she turned her head up towards me. I looked at her face which was red and flush out of what seemed like anger. “She already ruined yesterday. Let’s not let her ruin today,” Sab nodded her head in agreement.

We continued walking until we got to a trail that led into the woods. “We’re almost there,” Sab said excitedly. She gripped my hand tighter as she picked up her pace, now jogging along the trail. “Close your eyes,” She said, stopping abruptly. She reached into her pocket and grabbed out a bandana. I tied it around my head, covering my eyes.

“Just wait here.” I heard her footsteps fade in the distance. I was left there standing awkwardly for a couple of minutes before she came running back to me. “Let’s go,” she said, slapping my hand as I reached to pull off the bandana, “Not yet.” I continued to follow her then we came to a sudden stop.

I pulled off Anna’s blindfold and her face lit up. “It’s beautiful.” She looked over the cliff’s edge down to the lake below. Off in the distance you could see the mountains.

I walked over to the left of the path and waited for Anna to turn and look at me. She was so focused on the mountains. I giggled because she looked like a little kid walking into the candy store for the first time.

She looked over to me and saw the picnic area I had put together. She walked over towards me and smiled. She pulled me in for a hug and the smell of her hair flooded my nose. She pulled out of the hug and kissed my forehead. “I love it,” she said as she looked around me to the blankets on the ground.

She slipped off her shoes and layed down. I sat next to her and pulled out the food as the sun started to set. “Thank you for making me feel better. I really needed this.” she turned onto her side and smiled at me. I turned to the side feeling my face heat up and started to eat one of the sandwiches I had packed. We ate quickly trying not to miss any of the sunset.

Shades of red, orange, and yellow flooded the sky. The sea of colors was mesmerizing and got Anna staring so intently. She was now leaning against the tree that was behind her. I layed down in between her legs, my arms resting on her legs. She moved her arms so they were draped over my shoulders. We laid there in a comfortable silence as the sun set and the stars began to come out.

I was so comfortable laying here with Sab that I didn’t want to ever get up and go back to our dorm room. “Are you warm enough?” I asked, but no response came. She had fallen asleep. I decided to carry her back to our room and pick up what was left tomorrow. I slipped out from under her and replaced myself with a pillow. I pack the empty food containers in her backpack along with a few of the small blankets.

I picked her up, wrapping her sleeping body in a thin blanket and started to walk back down the trail. She seemed like she was close to waking up a few times on our way back, but never did.

We arrived at our room and I opened the door letting go of Sab with one hand. I placed her on her bed and went over to mine. I didn’t bother changing, I just wanted to close my eyes and go to sleep.
