Brendon Kingston's POV

6 years after the epilogue

"Daddy, can I ask you a question?"

I looked up from the patrol details and reports to see Isabella studying me curiously. "What is it Bella?" Her blonde hair was tied into pigtails while her grey eyes were big and blinking up at me innocently.

Her lower lip stuck out in a pout and I couldn't help but marvel how her features seem to favour Sydney except for her eyes. Those big grey eyes were all me and I could say that she was a perfect blend of Sydney and I.

"Could you order Cayden and Mason to leave me alone?"

I quirked up an eyebrow, it wasn't a secret that Cayden and their cousin Mason liked to pick on Isabella much to her chagrin. "What did they do?"

"They grabbed my dolls and threw them into lake!"

The indignant tone of my daughter's voice made me want to break out into a smile but I held it back, "I see. Alright, I'll have a word with them about it. Now, isn't it time for you to get ready? We have guests coming over for dinner don't we?"

Isabella nodded and gave me a toothy grin in response before skipping out of my study, her blonde pigtails flying as she left. Glancing at the clock, I cursed mentally before hurrying through the patrol details, it wouldn't be good to be late.

I scrutinised my expression in the mirror before shrugging on my jacket. Today, Rhett and Sarah along with Mason for dinner as they had some news that they wanted to share with us. Seeing that Rhett was hardly someone that could keep a secret, hence, Sydney and I had managed to guess it.

A pair of slim hands wrapped around my midsection and Sydney rested her head on my back and I relaxed slightly. "Hey you. Ready for dinner?"

I turned around to face her and shrugged, "Yes. Where's the kids?"

Sydney smiled. A smile that still made my heart race even after all these years together. Her hand reached up to run her fingers through my hair and the other to caress my cheek. Unconsciously, I leaned into her touch and shut my eyes.

"You look tired." she said as she studied me closely. Shrugging, I pressed a kiss on her forehead. "I'm fine. Nothing sleep can't cure. Rhett would be coming soon. We should head down."

Sydney nodded in agreement before leaning up to press a light kiss on my lips. "Alright. You go get Cayden and Isabella, I'll get Andrea from her nap."

Yes, Sydney and I had another daughter. Andrea Jalisca Kingston was born three years ago when Cayden was seven and Isabella three. From the piercing shrieks and giggles coming from the dining room, I headed down the stairs to be met with the sight of Cayden and Isabella running around.

"Give it back! I'll tell mum!" Cayden was hollering as he chased Isabella around the table.

Frowning as Cayden almost tripped on the rug, I quickly scooped Isabella up so that their little game of running around the house was halted.

"Daddy!" Isabella screamed, almost breaking my eardrums as I tossed her up over my shoulders. "Bella, what are you up to?" I questioned, still wincing from the piercing sound of her screams.

"Dad! She took it! Tell her to give my video game back!"

"No!"

"Dad!" Cayden was shouting in frustration and I tilted my gaze to Isabella and narrowed my eyes at her. "Bella, give Cayden his game back now."

Sulking, Isabella handed the game back and I placed her back onto the ground. "Bella, that wasn't nice, apologise. Cayden, Bella is your sister, you are to look after her, not pick on her with Mason. Is that clear?"

"Yes, dad." Cayden mumbled and Isabella sulked but nodded, her messy blonde curls were like a halo around her head and I sighed, knowing Sydney wouldn't be pleased with her appearance.

"Alright, go clean up. We have guests." I instructed and both Cayden and Isabella rushed off. Seeing the slight mess that they had made, I quickly ran my eyes over the dining table, making sure that nothing was out of place and everything was alright.

Satisfied, I turned around and was met with Sydney carrying a sleepy looking Andrea in her arms. My heart softened at that sight and I was pretty sure my face was betraying what I was thinking. "There was a slight mess in the dining room."

Sydney's eyes widened in panic and she gently passed Andrea to me. "Let me guess? Cayden and Bella?" I nodded in response and held onto Andrea tightly. Sydney sighed and quickly rushed off to inspect the mess leaving me standing alone in the hallway.

Despite having siblings that were extremely active and noisy, Andrea was the total opposite. She was quiet and observant and watched everyone and everything carefully. Sydney liked to say that she had inherited those traits from me. And well, secretly, I liked to think that too.

Sharing the same kind of personality traits as me wasn't the only thing that Andrea and I had in common, she looked almost like me. From the dark hair and grey eyes, she was all me. However, she had inherited Sydney's softer feature thus, giving her the look of someone that was extremely delicate.

Andrea looked up at me and blinked while I offered her a faint smile and patted her back comfortingly, with that, she rested her head back onto my chest. My heart squeezed at that and I pressed a soft tender kiss on her head.

The door ringing broke the little moment we had and I sighed heavily before heading to the door. Before I knew it, Rhett, Sarah and Mason had greeted me and made their way to the dining room as I followed after them silently.

No matter how old I was, I still didn't particularly like socialising. I sighed heavily once more before entering the dining room where I knew chaos awaited Andrea and I

* * *

Dinner had gone well, and my suspicions regarding Rhett and Sarah's news was right. They were expecting another child much to Mason's slight disdain but he had gotten over it when they realised it was another son they were going to have.

Sean didn't join us today as he was off touring the world on his honeymoon with his wife Hanna. The season had just ended a week ago and as a result, there had been many parties and celebrations going on throughout the pack.

I know Sydney had noticed that I was more silent and withdrawn again. She didn't know it but every time the season occurred, I was still filled with guilt about how I had treated her. But of course, I wouldn't mention it out loud, I was fine with Sydney thinking I had gotten over it.

Not that I had.

How could I? Looking back, I had been a monster. I didn't think I could ever forgive myself. Let alone letting Sydney forgive me.

Placing Andrea into her bed, I watched her silently and stroked her dark curls gently before pressing a light kiss on her forehead before leaving and entering Isabella's room.

Sydney was off having a shower while I offered to put the children to bed. Seeing that Cayden was older, he could stay up later by one more hour, Andrea had long fallen asleep in my arms while Sydney, Sarah and Rhett were all discussing something while the rest of the children were off in the playroom making a mess.

Right now, it was Isabella's bedtime and I knew she was expecting to have a story read to her before she slept. "What story would you like Bella?" I questioned as I sat on the bed as Isabella pouted as she thought.

"Daddy, could you tell me a story of how you and mummy met?"

The moment those exact words left her lips, I tensed and the feeling of utter self loathing and guilt filled me up. "What made you ask that Bella?"

"'Cos all my friends in school were talking about it and I didn't know about how you and mummy met."

I swallowed harshly. I could lie my way out of this but I knew I wouldn't. She deserved the truth and if that led to her hating me, I knew I deserved it.

"I met mummy at the season, you know that don't you?" I started and I could already feel my heart rate speeding up, my palms were getting all sweaty and I felt like throwing up. "Uh huh and then-Cayden! Daddy is telling a story, wanna listen?"

Isabella hollered and my heart sank even further as Cayden entered the room and agreed. "I never heard how you and mum met either." He pointed out and I nodded. "I never told you kids."

"Why not?" Isabella questioned, her grey eyes burning with curiosity.

"Because when I first met your mother, I wasn't really nice to her. I was very mean and I was sure she hated me." I started quietly and both Cayden and Isabella was staring up at me in shock.

Cayden was first. "You were mean to mum? Did you throw her dolls in the lake?"

More like throw her against the railings of the stairs. "I guess you can say that." I offered and Isabella frowned. "But why? Don't you love mummy?"

"Yes, I do. But back then, I was a very different person. But somehow your mummy saw past all that and she forgave me. And now we have you brats." I quickly finished, I didn't want to linger on all of that anymore.

Both Cayden and Isabella laughed which lead to Cayden leaving seeing that Isabella kicked him out after he stepped on one of her plush toys.

"Night Bella." I said quietly and tucked her in, and switched off the lights before pressing another kiss on her forehead. "Night daddy." she murmured drowsily and I caressed her cheek before leaving.

Soon enough, Cayden was asleep as well and Sydney and I were getting ready to sleep. I was already in bed and was watching Sydney tie her hair into a bun before getting into bed.

She snuggled up to me, her head resting on my chest with one of my arms around her waist. "I heard you know."

Immediately I tensed, knowing what she was referring to. I was panicking but I chose to remain silent. "Brendon, don't think I don't realise you become more quiet and withdrawn every year when the season takes place."

Again, I remained quiet, not knowing what to say. And well, what could I even say? I had no idea. "You should stop beating yourself about it. I forgave you and you're a different person now. Just leave the past where it should belong." Her blue eyes were burning into mine and all I could do was just stare at her.

Suddenly, I felt lighter as if all the burdens I've had vanished into thin air. I pushed back a blonde lock of her hair behind her ear and murmured quietly. "I love you."

The demanding stare in her eyes softened and she smiled. "I know. I love you too."

With that, I shut my eyes and slept, finally at peace.
