Chapter 3

TWO

The Duo » yoonmin [FF]

CHIEF MANOBAL CHUCKLES before nodding satisfied, she got exactly what she wanted. "Good, Mr. Park. I'm glad to welcome you to our department, I will introduce you to your Commander. Anything further will be discussed with him."

After shaking hands, she leads him out of the glass office before making him follow her to the SWAT department. She then made a quick call with what Jimin thinks, was the Commander, before they approach the elevators.

"It's in the basement. We have different SWAT units, smaller ones and bigger ones. You will be joining the unit Bulletproof. Commander Kim Namjoon will be taking care of you, you will be under his watch and he will be responsible for you." The chief explains as they enter the elevator.

She presses the button and the elevator smoothly goes down. The door opens, revealing a completely different interior than in the first floor, the hallway is dark but with lines of white LED lights. It is completely quiet, there are no people running around, having phone calls or talking to each other. It feels as if they were in a completely different building, with an extremely modern interior and different vibes.

He follows her out of the elevator, her high heels were making annoyingly loud sounds when she was walking in front of him. They were taking right and left turns and passing two security doors, before she takes a halt in a rather long and wide hallway, just as special as the other ones, maybe even more special.

"So extra." Jimin mumbles and the chief snorts at his comment.

"Commander Kim will be here soon, I will leave you from here on." The chief says with a kind smile, making Jimin frown slightly since he doesn't know how to act around that woman. Ever since he was small he was raised to be rather careful and not to trust any too easily. That's what makes it hard for him to judge this whole situation and if he can trust them or not.

"If you need anything, this is my card, you can call me anytime Mr. Park." The woman then says while handing him a card with her information and number. With that she turns around and walks away, leaving Jimin behind. He knows he will probably never call her on his own.

Standing there waiting, Jimin somehow feels stupid. As if he is stuck in some kind of strange dream, because a few hours ago he was walking around the city looking for a job, so that he can pay that shitty room he has been living in for a while, and now he is standing in the hallway of a SWAT department, about to meet the Commander of the Unit he will join soon.

It was so sudden, everything happened so fast, he was thrown into the cold water just like that. But it won't be that bad, right?

Anything seems better than the small apartment with only cold water and one stove as a kitchen, with fighting neighbors and criminals running around in the neighborhood. More over he was looking for a job and now he got one. As long as they are not trying to make some experiments and tests on him, it can't be that bad.

As he is waiting for the commander to finally pick him up, he looks around the hallway, on the walls were some writings about the SWAT and what seems their morals or rules or whatever. Jimin actually doesn't care much.

Just as he's about to turn around, he suddenly feels something cold and sharp being hold against his throat. A shiver runs down Jimin's back, he can feel how his heart skips a beat before beating faster in his chest. How can someone be behind him? He literally heard no sounds, no steps, nothing.

"Who are you? How did you get here?" A low raspy voice growls into his ear, making Jimin gulp in result.

"I'm Park Jimin-"

"Our new recruit." Another voice interrupts him, making him look to his right where he sees a tall man approaching him and the stranger that is finally taking a step back from him and lowering his knife.

"Commander." The man with the raspy voice says before bowing to greet the commander.

"Sergeant Min." The tall man responds, "You already managed to scare our new recruit. Park Jimin, right?"

Jimin snorts slightly at the comment. He averts his gaze to the male who placed his knife on his throat as a 'hello' and their eyes lock for a short moment. The blacked haired man is wearing black pants with a belt that holds a gun and a black shirt, that has the word 'SWAT' written on it.

What Jimin finds more interesting is the red scar on his right eye, slightly faded but still clearly visible if you look closely.

He averts his gaze from the man, Sergeant Min to be specific, to the commander. "He didn't scare me." Jimin responds while crossing his arms and eying the tall man in front of him.

The commander laughs, making dimples appear on his cheeks, breaking the whole serious and strong aura he gave off just a few seconds ago.

"Good. I'm Commander Kim Namjoon." The man takes a step closer and holds his hand out for Jimin to shake it. The black haired boy hesitates for a second but he grabs the hand and shakes it, "Park Jimin."

"I'm sorry for the rather unfriendly welcoming." Kim says before sending a death glare at the male next to them, who just looks away without saying a word. Jimin wants to roll his eyes but he stops himself from doing it.

"We have a lot to discuss so let's go to my office first." The commander says, "Follow me. Sergeant see you later in the meeting room."

The sergeant bows shortly before going into the opposite direction. Jimin follows commander Kim quietly and not far away from the hallway they take a halt in front of his office. To open the door he places his hand on a scanning device that scans his fingerprints and opens the door the next second.

They enter the rather big room, just as modern as the hallway. Namjoon points at the chair in front of the big table, signaling Jimin to sit down, while he sits down on the other chair right across the table.

It feels strange for the black haired male, he feels so out of place, clearly getting the feeling that he doesn't belong here. Not with his baggy clothes and messy hair, while there's a Commander sitting across him, with a black tuxedo and perfectly styled hair in a room that alone seems more expensive than all of the money Jimin's parents have left behind before they died. Jimin feels strange and Namjoon seems to notice it.

"I know it's a lot. But we have the time- you have all of the time you need to get used to this all." Namjoon says, making Jimin look up into his eyes, "Let's start from the beginning. We have been watching you for a while, that's why we know about you and your ability. That you crushed one of our cars today was the perfect setting to bring you here and make our offer. You would be an amazing addition to our unit."

Jimin just listens quietly, he doesn't want to interrupt the commander because he wants to hear everything he has to say. Maybe he would reconsider the offer, even though he isn't someone to back off once he said yes to something.

"We are a smaller special unit with 6 members including me. We have specialists of different categories and we even have a smaller subunit, a trio, that works for and with us. You will meet everyone when the time comes." Namjoon continues explaining, "As a SWAT unit we help the police with complicated and high-risk task such as cases of hostages, high-risk arrests or personal protection, sniper operation and so on. We mostly work in duos or trios. But for bigger tasks for example like raids and search warrants where resistance is expected, we work as a team."

Jimin nods in acknowledgment, trying to understand everything the commander is explaining him. It's quite a lot and he knows even more is about to come.

Namjoon has told him, that there will be a special training for Jimin, to improve his fighting skills and show him how to use a gun properly. There will be theoretical lessons as well. He won't get the same training like the other officers, it will be similar but cut to the basics. After approximately 3 months he will do the test to become a real member of Bulletproof.

He will be trained by the team members. And they will try to teach him how to control his powers. Jimin isn't so sure about that part, if it will really work out or not. His parents always tried to teach him, but they had no clue how.

They really tried their best but they were so overwhelmed with the situation, with Jimin in general. He has never been easy, whenever his emotions were too much, too intense, something bad would happen, he would lose control, break something or hurt someone.

Instead of learning how to control his powers, he learned how to suppress using them at all, or shutting his emotions down. His powers are triggered by his emotions, mostly. To separate them is the hard part, he has to learn how to use them without having emotional triggers or letting his emotions in without having his powers taking control over him. Sounds easier than it is.

Maybe he will finally be able to learn how to control his powers and use them for the good.

There are still a few questions in his head, and many things that they will have to discuss but the commander wants to do it together with the other members of the unit.

„So Park Jimin. Are you ready to meet our team?"

The black haired male looks up, right into the commander's face where he spots a big smile and his deep dimples.

He then shrugs, „ I have no other choice."
