Chapter 2

1. Beginning

ISHQ IN THE AIR

2:39 AM.

I glanced at my wristwatch. In an hour, I would reach India.

My friend, Meher, is getting married, and I have to be there.

I had been in London for some urgent work. Beside me was my PA, Akshit Mehra.

"Ma'am, our flight is going to take off soon," Akshit said, looking at the flight attendant.

"It's okay," I replied.

I was excited yet nervous. I would be meeting my closest friends after four or five years.

Despite being in the same country, we hadn't met because of our busy schedules. A doctor, a trader, and a professor-three completely different occupations but the same humor.

We've been friends since elementary school, and whenever we're together, it feels like we're kids again. Years ago, we decided to pursue careers in different fields. Now, in our mid-20s, the moment we meet, I know I'll feel like I'm 13 again.

The next hour flew by as I worked, determined to outdo my nemesis. I will be the best. I will not let Abhinav Randhawa rule the business world anymore.

Abhinav Randhawa. My rival. My nemesis. My biggest mistake.

My law firm is ranked second among the top five companies in India. That smug CEO of Randhawas & Co. is holding the first position. Not for long.

I was stressed, but I knew the second I met my friends, all that would melt away.

The Arrival

Where are they?

I had been waiting for half an hour, yet there was no sign of Swastika, Tripti, or Veda. Seriously?

"God," I muttered, glancing at my phone. No calls. No messages. Nothing.

Akshit even offered to drop me at my company, but I refused. I wanted to meet my friends first.

After waiting a little longer, I finally spotted three familiar faces waving at me. They were smiling, and I couldn't help but grin back. But then, I noticed the neon board in Tripti's hand:

"Aagayi Harami??"

Dumb creatures.

Before I could process the absurdity of the sign, Veda came running and hugged me tightly, almost suffocating me. Swastika and Tripti followed.

"You all look so different in person!" Veda exclaimed, loud enough to draw attention from people in the lobby. She was always the loud one.

"We all had a glow-up, come on," Tripti, the quietest of us, remarked.

"Real!!" Swastika chimed in, ever the slang dictionary. Then she added, "NOW TELL ME, WHY WEE YU LATE LIKE ALWAYS?"

"My flight was delayed. As soon as I sorted my arrangements, I took the first flight to India," I shrugged.

"Theek hai, theek hai, chalo. Ab hotel pe bhi jaana hai," Veda said, finally releasing me from her bear hug.

At the Hotel

"I still don't get why Meher is marrying here. I mean, Pushkar, Rajasthan?" I asked as we rode in the cab to the hotel.

"Destination wedding," Tripti smirked. "Banda ameer hoga. By the way, what's his name?"

"Sameer Shrivastava," Swastika said from the passenger seat.

We exchanged knowing looks.

"Let's just hope it's not him," Veda muttered as we pulled up in front of a grand hotel.

"Hotel dekh ke hi mehenga lag raha hai," I mumbled, eyeing the luxurious façade.

TRIPTI SINGH

Inside, we were greeted by Meher herself. She hugged each of us before quickly excusing herself to attend to other guests.

Swastika, busy scrolling through her phone, muttered, "Baal baal bach gaye."

In the lobby, we chatted for a while until Veda handed us our room keys.

"Swastika and Palak in 345. Tripti and I in 346," Veda said, stifling a yawn.

"It's almost 3 AM. Let's sleep and talk tomorrow," she added.

I nodded, grabbed my luggage, and headed ty room.m

I was searching for my room, grumbling under my breath. "Where is 356? Gosh!"

Veda was nowhere to be found, and I was getting frustrated. Finally, I spotted a door with 356 written on it.

"She's probably already chilling in there," I muttered, gripping my luggage handle.

With exaggerated stomps, I barged in-only to immediately regret it.

Two shirtless guys stared back at me, frozen mid-action.

Our eyes widened in unison.

Before they could react, I bowed awkwardly and stammered, "Sorry!" before bolting out of the room.

Outside, I burst into uncontrollable laughter.

"Oh my God, did I just witness a real-life BL? What the fuck?!" I whispered to myself, the image still vivid in my mind.

Body toh mast thi, fr.

Still laughing, I found Veda with some other friends in the hallway.

"Oye! Where were you?! Tumhari wajah se mai marte-marte bach gayi!" I exclaimed, dragging my luggage.

"What happened?" she asked as she opened the door to our actual room-346.

Shit.

I had accidentally walked into 356.

"Mai kal breakfast pe sabko bataungi. Abhi so jaate hain," I said, plopping onto the bed, still giggling at my misadventure.

Body toh mast thi, fr.
