(Present)

Janvi shirked when she felt something was moving on her feet...She left up her face from her knees and tried to look down...But she couldn't see anything in the darkness...

It was cold and slippery...Then suddenly realization hit her and pressed her mouth with her both hands not to scream or make any sound...

She silently cried at her vulnerable situation...After sometime she felt that dangerous things went away...She exhaled, she didn't know she was holding all this time...

"Where are you Arjun?..."

Janvi murmured under her breath...She was tired...She was tired of all the things that were happening, she doesn't know why...Who were those people who wanted to harm her...

"Please be okay...Come back sound and safe..."

Janvi prayed in her mind....She just wants Arjun to be okay with her as soon as possible...She doesn't know how long she will be able to hold her courage...

She clutched herself strongly and then her mind went back to a few hours ago where everything started and led her to this situation...

(Some hours ago)

Janvi's pov--

After dinner Arjun gave me medicines and I gulped down quickly as I didn't want to make him angry...

I'm feeling very guilty about the afternoon incident when I went out without telling him...I didn't think that would cause all this thing...I should have informed him at least...

"DON'T OPEN THE BALCONY DOOR OR WINDOWS FOR TONIGHT..."

Arjun's sudden voice brought me to reality...I looked at Arjun who was busy locking up the balcony door...

I looked at the windows, they were already locked...

"IF YOU HEAR ANY NOISE JUST CALL ME LOUD...I WILL BE DOWNSTAIRS..."

Arjun checked the locks again then turned towards me...I was looking at him confusedly...Our eyes met...

"I WON'T CHARGE YOU FOR SPEAKING UNLESS MY EARS STARTED TO BLEED..."

I took some time to understand his sarcasm...I opened my mouth like a fish and closed it as I didn't have any proper answer...Suddenly I remembered something...

"Th- that chimpanzee will come again?..."

I asked Arjun remembering the incident when I kept the balcony door open and a chimpanzee tried to enter the room...Thank god the Chimpanzee left without any harm...

"CHIMPANZEES..."

Arjun spoke casually looking at me...He didn't break the eye contact...

"Chi--chim---chimpanzees?"

I stammered thinking about a lot of chimpanzees that could have attacked me...

"ONE CHIMPANZEE WILL BRING OTHER CHIMPANZEES...THAT ONE WAS SPY CHIMPANZEE..."

Arjun spoke while walking towards the cupboard...He was searching for his t-shirt maybe...

"What!!...Really??..."

I asked surprisingly...I wondered about chimpanzees, they are also like humans...

"YEAH....THAT SPY ONE GATHERED INFORMATION AND THEN INFORMED TO HIS LEADER...THEN, THE LEADER ORDERED THEM TO ATTACK OR NOT..."

Arjun pulled one of his t-shirts and pants and looked at me...I was looking at him like a 5 year old kid who was listening to an interesting story...He was about to go to the bathroom...

"How do you know about all this?..."

My question makes him stop on his track and he turns around...

"I HAVE MY OWN WAYS..."

He chucked as I have asked him the silliest question ever...He looked intensely at me as he could read my thoughts as an open book...He knew that I'm scared...He always knows everything...

"YOU ARE ON THE RED ZONE , SWEETHEART..."

His lips twisted up and his stupid smirk appeared...I gulped down my saliva.... Arjun left for the bathroom to change... I'm dead..

After a few minutes Arjun came out wiping his face with a towel...

"YOU ARE LOOKING PALE..."

Arjun walked towards me and was about to touch my forehead but I moved back...His eyes turned dark... Did I make him angry?...

"I-I'm fi-fine..."

I'm not fine... I'm scared to hell...I spoke in my mind...

"I HATE REPEATING MYSELF....BUT I'M STILL DOING IT....

DON'T OPEN THE WINDOWS OR BALCONY DOOR... SLEEP NOW..."

Saying that Arjun left the room leaving me all alone...I was thinking about asking him to stay with me tonight but before I could say anything he was gone...

Lights were turned off long ago... Thanks to the dream light which didn't let the room become fully dark... I'm scared...

It has been hours that I was trying hard to fall asleep but sleep was far away from me... Chimpanzees were running in my mind...They were not only running, they were also jumping and dancing....

I'm gonna be mad if I can't get a quick sleep...I screamed in my mind about being frustrated... Suddenly, I started to feel suffocated...I started to sweat...My breaths got shorter and it became very difficult to breathe...

All I need now is to get fresh air... Without thinking much I went to the balcony by unlocking the door...I had to ignore Arjun's order in order to be alive...

I stood there in the fresh air... The environment helps me to calm down...I feel relaxed... There were a lot of fireflies dancing in the dark... First time I'm seeing these many fireflies together...What an amazing scenario!...We can't enjoy nature in our busy city... Modern life has made our life so mechanical...

I stood there enjoying nature...The cold breeze was hitting my face and body lightly...I don't know how much time I have spent standing here...

I heard some noises and I tried to figure out what that was...I took a few steps away from the railing and looked around...

I grasped loudly when i noticed one hand was holding the railing...My heart started to beat loudly...The thought of chimpanzees came back....That thing was trying to climb the balcony...They are here to attack me...

I took steps back to the bedroom and was about to shut the door before I could close the door the chimpanzee climbed up and pushed the door wide open...

"Arjuuuuuun..."

Without thinking much I screamed but that was not loud enough to reach Arjun...

He could be my one and only rescuer.... Hearing my scream that chimpanzee entered the room hurriedly and was about to attack me but somehow I escaped and ran to the other side of the room...I couldn't see well in the dream light...I regret  turning off the side table lamp...I tried to look at the Chimpanzee keenly...

Wait!... From when chimpanzees started to wear clothes? And how did that wild animal get a gun?...

When that thing approached me I realised it was not a Chimpanzee but a human with a gun...Is he here to kill me?...But I didn't do anything bad...

He tried to hold me but I was quick enough to move aside and pushed him strongly which made him stumble and his gun fell down...

"Arjuuuuuun..."

I screamed loud enough this time and ran towards the door but before I could reach that man held me from behind and pressed his palm on my mouth... So, I couldn't make sounds...Only muffling  sounds were coming from my mouth...I was praying for Arjun to come fast...

With a loud kick Arjun entered the room as my saviour and scanned the whole room and then his eyes stopped on me...I don't know if he could see me or not but I felt our eyes met...

My eyes widened when suddenly, he pointed his gun towards me and without any warning he fired...I felt jerked towards and Arjun was quick enough to hold me...

I'm not feeling any pain...Then I heard a painful groan and I looked behind...That man was lying on the floor and groaning in pain...He was shot  on his shoulder...

"ARE YOU OKAY?..."

A genuine concern appeared in his voice....I just nodded my head in yes...

Then he went to the man and hit that man with his gun on his head and that man stopped making noises...

"O my god....I--is he dead?..."

Did I just witness a murder?... Arjun came to me and held my wrist and pulled me with him downstairs...

"NO...HE IS UNCONSCIOUS..."

Arjun replied while we reached downstairs...He took me to the lake side hurriedly...

"DIDN'T I WARN YOU NOT TO OPEN THE WINDOWS OR BALCONY DOOR?

WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?...HE COULD HAVE SHOOT YOU TO THE DEATH..."

Arjun roared angrily...His voice made me trembled in fear...

"I-I was..."

I tried to justify myself but his one deadly glare made me stop in the middle of my sentence...

"Why did he try to harm me?...I didn't do anything wrong..."

I couldn't stop myself from asking and the thought of being killed by goon made me cry in fear...Tears started to rain down my cheeks...

"WE DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO DISCUSS ALL THESE THINGS...YOU NEED TO RUN AWAY FROM HERE..."

Arjun told me in his dead serious voice...I deny him nodding my head...

"YOU HAVE TO....YOU HAVE TO RUN STRAIGHT BY THE LAKE...THEN YOU WILL FIND A THREE WAY JUNCTION...YOU WILL TAKE THE RIGHT AND WILL GO STRAIGHT...THEN YOU HAVE TO GO UNTIL YOU FIND HIGHWAY...

MY MEN WILL BE THERE... THEY WILL TAKE YOU HOME..."

Arjun said the direction but my brain wasn't working enough to remember all these things...

"I--I won't go without y--you anywhere..."

I started to sob loudly... Arjun took a deep breath and cupped my face with his both hands and wiped my tears with his thumbs...

"I WILL COME AFTER FINISHING MY WORK....I HAVE TO STAY HERE...YOU GO FIRST..."

Arjun tried to calmly convince me but I denied again...

I shirked when I heard gun shoots....Those sounds were not very far from us...

"I w-wont leave yo-uu in danger... please come with me..."

I requested him to come with me so that, we could leave together from this hell...

"DON'T ACT SILLY.... LEAVE..."

Arjun angrily scolded me and pushed me forward....I kept looking at him with my tearful eyes...

Arjun looked at me for a few seconds and ran his hand through his hair... Then we heard loud gunshots again.. Arjun quickly approached me and took my wrist in his hand and started to walk by the lake...He was walking very fast...I had to run to keep up with him...I was glad he was coming with me...

Suddenly he stopped and turned to me...I looked at him confusedly...

"DON'T MAKE THINGS DIFFICULT FOR ME..."

He could see the disappointment through my eyes when I realised what was coming next...I looked down...

I heard Arjun taking a sigh and put one of his hands behind my head and pulled me towards him...Then, I felt his lips on my forehead lingering for sometimes...I closed my eyes...I don't know why but I melted...

"GO , SWEETHEART..."

Arjun whispered...This time I couldn't deny him...I looked at him for the last time and started to go away with my heavy legs...I don't want him to suffer because of me...

This area has a few trees....For that moonlight could help me a lot to walk fast...But I have stumbled numerous times because in the dark I couldn't see the slopes ...

After a couple of minutes, I felt someone's footsteps and I instantly looked back but the scene horrified me... One man was nearing me pointing a gun towards me..

I felt my time was over when I heard a gun shoot and closed my eyes...Then I heard something fall down with a loud thud...

I didn't feel any pain and looked at the man who was lying on his stomach and was moving a little bit...

"RUN..."

I heard Arjun's loud voice and looked towards the voice and saw Arjun standing far away from me and his gun was shining under the moonlight...

That means Arjun fired that man and saved me again...I turned around and started to run...

Anytime my heart will come out if it continues to beat rapidly....So much violence in one day...

Then I run and run...I don't know where I'm going and where I will end up....
