Chapter 54
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Forget dissing RoccoâDan could slap Rocco in the face, and Rocco would never retaliate!
Frank shook his head. âNo, I understand how the boy felt. Thereâs no reason for me to blame him.â
If anything, Helen was to blame for bringing Lyndon the fake Ichor Pill, which led to Rocco believing Frank was bringing him another dud when he brought a real one.
Naturally, that was no reason to hold a grudge against Rocco, Dan then walked up to Frank, appearing utterly respectful. âYour understanding certainly sets your apart from the rest⦠also, should you find the time, why donât you visit my Flora Hall? We can exchange our knowledge when it comes to medicine.â
Frank smiled in turn. âDonât worry, Mr. Zimmer. Iâll actually require your assistance, since Iâll need plenty of medicinal ingredients soon enough. Iâll be imposing plenty.â
Dan was beaming at Frankâs wordsâimposing suited him just fine. If anything, he was more worried that Frank would not visit.
Decent relationships went both ways, after all.
âFeel free to ask if you need anything, Mr. Lawrence,â Dan assured Frank. âIâll never turn you âThank you, Mr. Zimmer.â Frank smiled faintly. âI shall get going if thereâs nothing else⦠Also, please ask the McCoys to release Helen Lane later.â
Dan was taken aback. âSorry for asking, but whatâs your connection to Ms. Lane?â
âSheâs my exâwife,â Frank said quietly.
With those words, he left in silence.
down.â
The Lanes hated him, and now that Helen was unhappy with him as well, he had even less reason to see them.
Dan was in turn gaping in disbeliefâhe was actually curious if Frank and Vicky were a thing since they were so close.
Forget Vicky being engaged⦠Surely the Turnbulls would not let Vicky marry a divorcee?!
âMâMr. Zimmer! IâItâs a miracle!â Rocco ran outside just then, almost stumbling as he did. âMy fatherâ¦
heâs recovered! Wait, whereâs Mr. Lawrence?â
âGone,â Dan replied quietly. âBe nicer if you ever meet him againâhe did not hold against you.
your offense âOf course, of course!â Rocco nodded repeatedly before asking softly, âActually, who is he? Why havenât I heard of him, let alone that he was with the Lanes?!â
âLetâs just say that you shouldnât ask too many questions,â Dan said, shooting him a look. âAnd whereâs Ms. Lane? Let her go already.â
âOh, of course⦠Iâll do it right away!â
Helen and Gina were still sulking in the guest room, with the latter complaining unhappily, âWhatâs keeping Mr. Wesley? When are they letting us go?â
Just then, the door opened, with Rocco smiling in greeting, suddenly utterly humble. âIâm so sorry about my impulsive behavior before, Ms. Lane. I almost hurt you thereâplease donât hold it against me.â
Helen was left taken aback by his drastic change of attitude and could tell right away that either her grandfather or Sean had resolved the issue.
âItâs no issue, Rocco. Howâs your father?â she asked.
Rocco smiled. âYour husband treated him, and heâs made a full recovery. Heâs resting in his room as we speak, but donât worryâthe terms you negotiated before are still in effect.â
âMy husband?â Helen was stunned.
Judging from the way Rocco said it, it was definitely not her grandfather. Could it really have been Sean?
âYeahâ¦â Rocco replied, left a little bemused by her reaction. âThatâs how he introduced himself.â
In reality, he did not get it eitherâif Helenâs husband was that impressive, why would she give his father a fake pill in the first place? Could there have been a mistake?
