Chapter 38
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Peter, Gina, and Helen were actually curious about who Sean had just spotted.
They looked as he headed over to the large group of people at the entrance, groveling like a humble slave.
Gina paled. âWâWho on earth are those people?â
Even Sean himself had to fawn over them!
Helen soon narrowed her eyes.
She did not recognize the rest save oneâNorman Schmidt.
âOne of them is the chief of Rivertonâs commerce guild,â she said. âI donât know the rest.â
Peter looked utterly enviousâwhen could he mingle with the bigwigs like Sean did?
âGosh,â he sighed. âHeâs even on talking terms with the chief of Rivertonâs commerce guildâ¦
Amazing!â
âWow!â Gina exclaimed and turned toward Helen with a serious look. âHeâs a special man, mingling with the likes of such bigwigs. See how far his influence extends? You have to win him over soon!â
Helen was speechless. âStop prying, Mom.â
âWhy? Youâre already divorced.â
âEnough. Letâs finish up hereâI have to go back to the office soon.â Helen ignored Gina and started eating.
Sean returned just then, and Gina promptly asked, âMr. Wesley, who were those people?â
Sean appeared somber. âThatâs Tidus Simmons, Gerald Simmonsâ son. With him are the chief of Rivertonâs commerce guild and the master of Skyblade Dojo, while the old man is the owner of Flora Hall. It seems that Gerald Simmons is suffering from a terrible affliction and has come to consult a miracle healer.â
âGosh,â Gina gasped in shock. âYou actually know all of them, Mr. Wesley?â
Sean scratched his head awkwardlyâhe knew none of them aside from Tidus.
He would certainly like to get acquainted with the VVIPS of Riverton himself, but Tidus was too busy with his fatherâs situation and did not stop to introduce them.
Even so, he was still smiling. âWeâre just ordinary friends.â
âThatâs still impressive,â Peter said. âWe donât even know any of themâtalk about broadening your horizons.â
Helen, however, was frowning in thought. âGerald Simmons is suffering from a terrible affliction?
Even the head of Flora Hall couldnât help? Then who are they consulting?â
Sean shook his head. âI donât know. But it seems that Dan Zimmer was helpless too.â
Helenâs eyes widened. âThereâs someone so impressive in Rivertonâ¦?â
Still, none of them dwelled on the issue.
Meanwhile, Tidus and the others arrived outside the penthouse suite and knocked on the door again.
âCome in,â Frank said from inside.
Everyone filed inside to find Frank sitting on a rocking chair, basking in the sun leisurely.
âManâs really relaxed,â Tidus growled through his teeth.
âMr. Lawrence?â Dan strode past him, greeting Frank. âAllow me to apologize on behalf of young Tidus if he had been rude. In fact, all of us are here to apologizeâlet us reconcile any differences, as we ask humbly that you save Mr. Simmons.â
Frank slowly rose, chuckling as he stared at the procession. âReally? I thought you were all here to beat me up.â
Dan laughed. âSurely you just. Weâre all just worried about Geraldâplease do help him.â
Frank simply stood, keeping his hands clasped behind his back. âThatâs no issue, but why should I?
Didnât he say he didnât need my help before?â
âOhâ¦Well⦠â Dan and the others traded glances.
They had gone there thinking there was hope, only for Frank to drag them to the negotiation table.
