Chapter 377
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Zeb appeared totally embarrassed -he was well aware that he did not know Gerald at all, let alone be recognized by his secretary!
âPlease donât shout, Mrs. Lane!â He pulled Gina to make her sit.
Gina, however, beamed at him. âOh, why are you being so humble, Zeb?â
Aron turned toward Zeb just then and muttered in confusion, âBut Iâve never heard of him.â
âWhat?â
Gina, Cindy, Helen, and Peter were dumbfounded, while Gina quickly pressed, âDidnât Mr. Simmons reserve this hall for Mr. Larkin?â
âYouâre kidding.â Aron snorted before turning to Frank, âMr. Simmons only decided to make the reservation for Mr. Lawrence. Why else would Mr. Lawrence possess Mr. Simmonsâ privately owned painting?â
Aron himself found out about that just this morning, though he did not ask questions despite his doubts.
âWhat?!â
Everyone was left dumbfounded again, staring at Frank in shock while Zeb was left humiliated.
âIâll be going now if thereâs nothing else,â Aron said.
âPlease, Mr. Lynch. At least stay for a course or two,â Helen quickly said.
Aron shook his head. âIâll passâI still have work to do, and Iâm here just to deliver Mr.
Simmonsâ present anyway. Best regards, Ms. Lane. Mr. Simmons does admire you.â
While Helen walked with Aron to the exit, Henry was grinning smugly. âLike I said, a painting this good couldnât be a fake.â
Gina rolled her eyes but could not say a word despite her frustration.
Meanwhile, right after Helen saw off Aron, representatives of the Turnbulls, the Quills, Trevor International, Skyblade Dojo, and Flora Hall all arrived to offer Henry their best wishes.
Helen and the rest of the Lanes were left gaping in confusion. In the past, a measly company like Lane Holdings would never have been paid much attention.
âWhen did Helen get so impressive?â someone whispered. âThatâs a lot of bigwigs!â
âI donât know, but sheâs plenty amazing, getting a huge project with the Turnbulls. And now, all the bigwigs are attending her grandfatherâs birthday party!â
Someone sighed. âIf only I had a daughter like Helen Laneâ¦.â
Helen was caught by surprise, but she was immediately on hand to greet the guests.
Gina was even gloating smugly at Henry. âSee that, old timer? So what if that lowlife was friends with some government official? Or are you saying all these bigwigs came under his invitation?â
Henry did not say a word, while Frank chuckled. âI never told them, but it just goes to show how sincere they are.â
âYou can shove it,â Gina snapped. âThey are here to see Henry, not you. Donât you dare breathe a word.â
As Helen led everyone to Henry, he flashed a polite smile and greeted everyone, since he had seen his fair share of social events during his youth.
Zeb was confused as to how Helen met those bigwigs as well and whispered to her, âYouâre so amazing, knowing all these people⦠I mean, even Skyblade Dojo?â
âHuhâ¦â Helen was actually puzzled too.
She was not surprised with the Turnbullsâ and Trevorâs friends visiting since they were partners.
Likewise, she had also met the Quills before, but they were not close enough to warrant the governor sending people to visit her grandfatherâ¦
As for Skyblade Dojo?! She had never even heard of them! Meanwhile, everyone was busy chatting with Henryâ¦
