Chapter 373
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
âA million is expensive!â Peter exclaimed in awe. âBut I guess itâs pocket change for you.â
âOh, thank you so much, Mr. Larkin.â Gina smiled before turning toward Henry. âSee? Thatâs Mr.
Larkinâs present for you.â
âI Henry took out a magnifying glass to study the pattern before asking curiously, âHow old did you say this was?â
Zeb smiled. âA century old. Do you like it, sir?â
Henry nodded. âItâs not badâ¦â
Despite disliking Zeb, he was still interested in antiques of such value.
Frank, however, was frowning. âThatâs a hundred years old? Doesnât really look like it.â
Zebâs heart could stop even as he turned to Frank in panic. âWhat are you talking about?â
The real vase he bought before ended up in piecesâthis time, he bought a bootleg item.
However, the stall owner assured him that even with advanced technology, only specialists could see the difference.
âShut up!â Gina snapped at Frank again. âWhat would you know? And you donât get to talk around this table!â
âI donât know my antiques,â Frank calmly replied. âBut the patterns on the vase are drawn instead of printed, and the colors are too bright as well. Gramps, you should get some to appraise it, or it wonât do if someone recognized some bootleg antique you keep in your study.
He did not know that much about antiques, but he had seen his fair share of treasures, especially porcelain vases.
That was why he could tell right away that Zebâs was fake, and since the Lanes would not believe him if he said that, the best way was to get a specialist to appraise it.
Henry nodded at Frankâs suggestion, but Ginaâwho had had enough of Frank for the day- promptly snapped, âDonât listen to his nonsense, Henry. The way I see it, heâs just trying to drive a wedge between you and Mr. Larkinâ¦â
Henry frowned. âFrankâs just suggesting. What are you so worried about?â
âIâ¦â Gina was stumped.
She glanced at Zeb and saw the awkward look on his face. Worried about upsetting him, she stubbornly persisted. âMr. Larkinâs family is very rich. Why would he give you a bootleg item?â
Cindy turned to Frank and demanded coldly in turn, âAt least Mr. Larkin brought a present! What did you bring anyway?â
Peter nodded repeatedly. âThatâs right! You came emptyâhanded, didnât you? That cheek of yours!â
Frank simply smiled. âOf course I brought something. Itâs Grampsâ birthday.â
He took out the velvet box he carried and picked up the painting from inside, passing it to Henry directly. âThis is an art piece by Alfie Bronx himself. See if you like it?â
âReally?!â Henryâs eyes lit up.
Alfie Bronxâs relics were so rare that money could not even buy someone one!
He quickly unfurled the painting, nodding as he admired the vibrant, vivid colors. âThis is amazingâ¦
Where did you get it, Frank?â
Frank smiled. âA friend gave it to me. Itâs no big deal.â
