Chapter 368
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Frank shook his head. âThereâs still some time before that, so they havenât decided on a place.â
âReally?â Gerald exclaimed. âIn that case, why not choose Riverton Hotel? Itâs a place of high standardsâMr. Lane would definitely like it.â
Riverton Hotel was a goâto venue for guests from out of town and largeâscale banquets.
While there usually was a twoâmonth waiting list for everything, it was unnecessary if Gerald pulled some strings.
Frank sighed. âMaybe next time, Mr. Simmons. Iâm not in charge anywayâitâs the Lane family.â
âOh⦠Sure.â
They made more small talk with Tidus all the way until the evening, when Frank excused himself.
After sending off Frank, Gerald quickly called Vicky. âMs. Turnbull, were you aware that Frank is celebrating his grandfatherâs birthday?â
âWhat? I didnât even know he had a grandfather,â Vicky replied, perplexed.
âOh, I mean Henry Lane, his exâgrandfather inâlaw, not his actual grandfather.â
âOh!â Vicky exclaimed in understanding -Frank was always respectful of Henry, and it was Henry himself who had Helen marry Frank in the first place.
âWell, Frank never mentioned anything to me. How did you find out anyway?â
âItâs all thanks to my sonâ¦â
Gerald then told Vicky about everything that happened earlier that day, and Vicky became pensive.
âThank you for telling me, Mr. Simmons.â
âOh, itâs nothing.â
After that, Vicky told Yara everything Gerald told her, and soon word spread further.
The Lane family was nobody important, but they decided to celebrate Henryâs birthday out of due respect for Frank.
Meanwhile, the Lanes were preparing for Henryâs birthday as well. It was not just a celebration, however, but also a presentation of the familyâs strength while making new allies of various important familles in Riverton.
Gina was scratching her head repeatedly. âSo⦠are we going with Verdant Hotel or Riverton Hotel?â
âVerdant Hotel, of course!â Peter exclaimed. âItâs the grandest hotel in Riverton!â
Gina glanced at Helen in turn. âWhat do you think?â
Helen thought about it. âRiverton Hotel.â
She decided against Verdant Hotel because it was a Turnbull property and she did not want to run into Vicky there. Even if Vicky might not show up at all, it was better to be safe than sorry. âYeah.â Gina nodded. âCanât let the Turnbulls take our money.â
However, before they could call their friends and relatives, a servant hurried inside. âMs. Lane, someone calling himself the Chief of General Affairsâ secretary just arrived.â
âThe Chief of General Affairsâ secretary?â
Everyone was stunned since they had no dealings with the Chief of General Affairs, so why would his secretary suddenly visit?
Still, Helen was the first to come to her senses. âWhat are you waiting for? Bring him in. Donât âIâll personally receive him.â Gina nodded repeatedly. âThatâs only right.â
Everyone â including Cindy, who was scrolling on her phone all alongâdropped what they were doing and hurried out to the door A man in a suit stood there, waiting.
Hurrying toward him, Helen said, âHelen Lane, at your service. Sorry for the poor hospitality when youâve come all this way, Mr. Lynch.â
