Chapter 138
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Greg frowned, He only got close to Gina for her money he would puke if he had to get intimate with a fortyish woman every day!
Seeing her beloved frown, Gina asked, âWhatâs wrong, Greg? You donât want to?â
âUh⦠No way!â Greg, promptly changed his reaction and chuckled, âIâve been thinking about it already, but nowâs not the time.â
âWhy not?â
âWeâre still not married, even if we are single now. I think we should do it properly, so that all of Riverton knows.â
Gina was beaming at that, purring shyly, âOh, weâre both adults. Why bother with childâs play?
âDonât say that,â Greg said righteously. âMarriage is a big deal, or people would talk if I keep coming here.â
Gina actually thought that made sense and was emotional that Greg would care so much about her.
She was certainly right about him!
Greg sighed lengthily just then. âAlso, Iâve been busy with work. Letâs get married once Iâve gotten that out of the way.â
âYeah, work is important,â Gina agreed. âIâll tell Helen to transfer you the money as soon as possible.â
Greg was none too pleased.
That was when the butler knocked on the door.
âWhat is it?!â Gina shouted as both she and Greg panicked, scrambling to get dressed.
âMrs. Lane, your son has just returned.â
âPeter? Why?â Gina did a double takeâwas Peter not supposed to be at work? Why did he come back so soon?
âI think someone beat him up,â the butler said. âWhy donât you take a look?â
âWhat?!â Gina was furious as soon as she heard that and rushed downstairs once she got dressed.
Greg hurried after her to find Peter lying on the drawing room couch, whimpering.
âMomâ¦â He sobbed.
Gina ran toward him, her heart aching when she saw his face battered and bruised. âOh, Peter ⦠What happened? Werenât you starting work at Grande Corp?â
âVicky fired me, Mom!â Peter cried indignantly.
âWhat?â Dumbfounded, Gina turned towards Greg. âDidnât Ms. Turnbull agree to give Peter a job?â
âYâYeah,â Greg replied. âWe had an agreement. Why would she fire you?â
âItâs all because of Frank!â Peter sobbed. âI ran into him in the lobby, and he told me to leave! He must have badmouthed me in front of Vicky⦠I mean, we did have a disagreement before, but I already apologized! But she told Frank to beat me up!â
Incensed, Gina smacked the table as she growled, âThat womanâs really too much!â
On the other hand, Greg narrowed his eyes. âWhat did Frank say? How did he make Ms. Turnbull get so upset with you?â
âI donât know! Frank entered her office, so I donât know what he saidâbut once she came out, she started snapping at me.â Peter sobbed and pointed at his nose. âFrank even broke my nose.
âItâs alright, Peter. Donât cryâIâll get the doctor for you.â Gina promptly hugged him, comforting him.
Peter, however, was huffing indignantly. âYou have to help me, Mom.â
