Chapter 1 - Am I Worried About Her?
My Nurse Girlfriend Looks Soft And Cure? But Each Stab She Makes Avoids Their Vital Points
âYou might be pregnant with a child who has four arms and four legs,â the intern doctor said to the pregnant woman lying on the bed during the ultrasound examination.
âHuh?â The pregnant woman was shocked.
âWhat?â Her husband, who was with her, also stared in disbelief.
âYou fool, these are twins,â Lu Ming explained, patting the intern doctor on the back affectionately.
The other interns observing couldnât help but laugh after Lu Mingâs clarification.
After hearing Lu Mingâs explanation, the pregnant woman and her husband breathed a sigh of relief.
âThatâs an unusual way to announce twinsâ¦â
Lu Ming apologized to the couple while lamenting the challenges of mentoring this group of interns.
Just then, Lu Mingâs phone rang again, and he saw a WeChat call from one of his students. This was the third time she had called, and Lu Ming knew exactly what she needed.
She must be calling for help.
As expected, he opened the chat interface and read her message:
âãTeacher!ã
ãOutpatient clinic!ã
ãHelp me! Help me!ã
There were two missed call records from her that he had rejected.
Lu Ming sighed and replied:
âãStop calling, you fool. Iâm on my way!ã
She immediately responded with a message:
âãCrying!ã
With a sad and helpless emotion, Lu Ming pocketed his phone and rushed to the outpatient clinic.
Outpatient clinic.
Pediatrics Room Three.
âIâm telling you if my daughterâs cough isnât curedâ¦â
âI not only want to complain, but Iâll also report you to the Health Bureau for selling ineffective medicine!â
A young parent held a bottle of cough syrup, angrily confronting the young female doctor in front of her.
âPlease calm down. My teacher is on his way.â
âHe will help diagnose your daughterâs condition.â
Shen Mumu forced a smile, trying to console the childâs parents. She had heard that pediatrics was a challenging field, but she hadnât expected it to be this tough. This was only her third day as a pediatric resident, and she had already faced over ten complaints and warnings!
If this continued, she might not only work for free for a month but could end up owing money!
âHmph!â
The parent expressed disdain. They were determined to file a complaint.
Before long, Lu Ming entered the room and pushed the door. When the parents saw Lu Ming, they were surprised.
âIs this your teacher?â The parent pointed at Lu Ming, eyeing Shen Mumu skeptically.@@novelbin@@
âYes, heâs my teacher, Lu Ming!â Shen Mumu proudly introduced.
âAre you two conspiring to deceive me?â
âHis age doesnât look older than mine! How can he be your teacher?â
Lu Mingâs appearance didnât match the parentsâ expectations for a doctor-teacher. They likely envisioned these young doctors being mentored by distinguished professors in their fifties or older.
âMy teacher is an Associate Chief Physician!â Shen Mumu explained.
âHe will be 26 this year!â
âDo you understand the prestige of a 26-year-old Associate Chief Physician?â
Shen Mumu became visibly upset, defending Lu Ming against doubts.
In the medical field, doctors progress from Resident Physician, Attending Physician, and Associate Chief Physician to Chief Physician. Those who attain the rank of Chief Physician are typically 35 years or older.
âNonsense! Get your hospital director here. I want to complain!â The parent remained unconvinced.
Shen Mumu was about to argue further but was interrupted by Lu Ming, who raised his hand.
Arguing with patients is a significant no-no in the medical field.
âWhatâs the situation with the child?â With one question, Lu Ming redirected the focus to the child, skillfully avoiding further argument.
Upon seeing that Lu Ming inquired about the child, the parent immediately explained the situation. The little girl had been coughing, and they had brought her to the hospital, where she was prescribed cough syrup. To their surprise, her condition not only didnât improve but worsened. This left the parent frustrated and suspicious of Shen Mumuâs professionalism, even suspecting that the prescribed medicine might be ineffective.
Lu Ming took a deep breath, thinking it might be a significant problem, only to discover it was a cough. Moreover, he had a rough idea of what might be happening.
This issue might be attributed to Shen Mumu.
âLet me see the cough medicine,â Lu Ming requested, extending his hand.
âAre you trying to destroy evidence?â The parents looked at Lu Ming with suspicion.
Lu Ming pointed to the surveillance camera on the ceiling, easing the parentsâ concerns. They then handed the cough medicine to Lu Ming.
Lu Ming opened the cough medicine and sniffed it. Soon, he confirmed, âThe medication is fine.â
Upon hearing this, the parent became anxious.
âIf the medicine is fine, why isnât my daughterâs cough improving?â The parent asked, frustrated.
Lu Ming signaled the parent to remain calm and asked, âLet me know, how do you give your daughter the cough medicine?â
The parent answered, âWhat else can we do? Pour a little from the bottle onto a spoon and have her swallow it, then give her a few sips of water afterward.â
âWhat I mean is, what happens next?â Lu Ming asked.
The parent paused and asked, âWhat do you mean?â
âAfterward, she has a few sips of water,â he said.
Lu Ming smiled slightly, solving the case. âThe problem lies in those few sips of water.â
The parent became even more puzzled. âWhat does that have to do with drinking water? Even if you want to avoid responsibility, find a better excuse.â
Lu Ming explained, âAfter taking the cough medicine, you shouldnât drink water immediately. The principle of cough medicine is to create a protective layer on the mucous membrane surface to reduce the irritation from inflammation. If you drink water right after taking the cough medicine, wonât it wash away the protective layer adhering to the mucous membrane? Itâs like taking the medicine for nothing.â
The parent expressed surprise. Was this the correct way to take cough medicine?
âI told you, our medicine is fine! Our treatment method is fine, too!â
âYou see, itâs your fault!â Lu Ming said.
Shen Mumu, who had been holding back her frustration, finally felt a sense of relief.
âThe medicine is fine, the treatment method is fine, but you bear responsibility,â Lu Ming said, redirecting his criticism towards Shen Mumu.
âAh?â Shen Mumu was dumbfounded.
âFor us doctors, itâs common knowledge that cough medicine should not be taken with water,â Lu Ming continued. âBut for patients, they havenât studied pharmacology. So, you should fulfill your duty to remind them.â
Lu Ming pinpointed Shen Mumuâs mistake. Shen Mumu bit her lip lightly, and after a moment, she stood up and sincerely apologized to the parent and the little girl, saying, âIâm sorry, I didnât fulfill my duty to remind you. I bear responsibility for delaying your daughterâs recovery.â
Upon hearing this, the parent felt somewhat embarrassed. Lu Mingâs fairness, impartiality, and problem-solving skills had won him over.
The parent scratched their head and said awkwardly, âI got a bit impulsive and almost turned into a medical troublemaker. Doctor, rest assured, I wonât file a complaint.â
In the face of the parentâs assurance, Shen Mumu breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. At the same time, she looked at Lu Ming with admiration.
A teacher was truly a teacher. He effortlessly resolved a medical dispute!
At this moment, Lu Mingâs phone vibrated again. Just as he was about to sigh about which troublesome student needed his help this time, his eyes widened as he read the message.
âXiao Rou has been followed!â
The words that came out of Lu Mingâs mouth left Shen Mumu stunned and alarmed.
âMy wife has been followed?â Lu Ming pocketed his phone. âI need to get there quickly!â
Shen Mumu reassured him, saying, âTeacher, donât worry too much. Report it to the police first, and Iâm sure your wife will be fine.â
Lu Ming shook his head, saying, âAm I worried about her? Iâm concerned about the bad guys!â
âAh?â Shen Mumu was suddenly puzzled. She couldnât quite grasp what he meant. âWorried about bad individuals?â
