“Impossible! It couldn’t be someone from our family!” Chi Zhan defended himself, his face turning red, “My parents have an excellent relationship, and so do my siblings and I. My sister-in-law treats Qingqing even better than my brother does! We’ve always lived harmoniously as a family. We’ve never had any fights or arguments; nobody in our family would harm Qingqing!”

“Is your family only composed of six members?” Gu Junzhu arched his eyebrows at him, “To my understanding, don’t you also have a cousin named Chi Zhen who lives with you?”

“It couldn’t be Chi Zhen either!” Chi Zhan bellowed, “Chi Zhen has a great relationship with us. My parents love him as if he were their own son; he couldn’t possibly do such a thing to Qingqing!”

“Little Zhan!” Chi Yu’s expression hardened, and he rebuked, “Show some respect!”

Chen Zhan became stunned; he wiped his face, calmed down for a moment, then apologized to Gu Junzhu, “I’m sorry, Fifth Brother. I didn’t mean to disrespect you. I just couldn’t control my emotions, but I shouldn’t have shouted at you.”

Gu Junzhu chuckled slightly, indicating that he didn’t mind, “I was just providing a theory. Whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t mean Chi Zhen is innocent just because you raised your voice. Facts are what matters.”

“I understand,” Chi Yu’s expression darkened as he replied in a low tone, “I will have someone look into it.”

Gu Junzhu simply smiled, saying no more.

He had always been a man who took responsibility for his words.

He only mentioned Chi Zhen because his subordinates had captured some suspicious traces related to him.

Even though there was no concrete evidence, Chi Zhen was the most suspicious.

Yet, he didn’t delve deeper with Chi Yu.

After all, this was a matter of the Chi family, and Chi Yu was capable.

As long as he planted the seed of suspicion in Chi Yu’s heart, the truth would eventually come to light.

As the conversation came to a halt, Yue Yaer ordered the bodyguard standing beside Shi Qianying, “Continue.”

Obeying the command, the bodyguard once again threw the man who once assaulted Chi Qing onto Shi Qianying.

The man thought to himself that he’d come to a bad end someday; that day wasn’t too far off.

Since that was the case, he might as well take advantage of the chance to indulge before meeting his end, and truly cherish the opportunity.

Chi Zhan was glaring at Shi Qianying and the man on top of her, his eyes red and tears brimming. His fists clenched tightly by his sides; his heart ached as if it had been torn to shreds, yet he compelled himself to continue watching.

This was the pain his sister had once endured.

The bodyguard threw a blanket over the man, hauled him to the side, signaling him to get dressed.

Yue Yaer also adjusted Shi Qianying’s tattered clothes for her, then turned to look at Chi Yu and Chi Zhan, disappointment written all over her face, “No good.”
