Chapter 2044 Paying A Visit
Honey We Are Not Getting Remarried: Get Away From Me!
ElÃsa was not in a hurry to rush Gareth.
The ward suddenly fell silent, which was a bit unusual.
After a while, Harry finally said, âIndeed, such a possibility cannot be ruled out.â
Elisa heaved a sigh of relief as if a heavy burden had been lifted. Thankfully, Gareth believed in me. Otherwise, I wouldnât know what to do.
Elisa patted her chest, her face filled with relief after a narrow escape. âThank goodness youâre a smart person.â
Gareth curled his lips. âSo, if I donât believe you, does that make me a fool?â
How is it that he still has the mood to joke around at a time like this? Elisa glared at Gareth and asked, âWhen you went to check the surveillance footage that day, did you look at the footage of the waterâs surface?â
Upon hearing that, Gareth was taken aback for a moment. He then shook his head. âI only checked the exit surveillance, which showed that you were the only one there before. The only places you went to were the hospital and the company, so I didnât look into it any further.â
After all, no matter how one looked at it, it would still seem like an accident.
No one would think it could be a murder case.
If it hadnât been Elisa herself who said those things, perhaps Gareth wouldnât have believed them if they came from anyone else.
Elisa nodded. âThe top priority now is to retrieve the surveillance footage. We canât let them clean it up or get it deleted by someone.â
The two exchanged a glance and quickly came to an agreement.
Given the gravity of the situation, Gareth decided to make the trip himself.
After having lunch with Elisa, Gareth drove to Mount Lusetonas.
Accompanied by Bella, Elisa arrived outside the intensive care unit.
That was a private VIP ward. It was sterile inside, so no one was allowed in. However, there was a large transparent glass through which they could see what was happening inside.
Elisa rested her face against the glass, looking somewhat helplessly inside.
Rachelâs body was covered in numerous tubes, some for oxygen supply, others for monitoring vital signs.
The fluctuating EKG was the only proof that she was still alive. Obviously, it was an unbearable situation.
Elisaâs hands clenched into helpless fists. If she could, she would rather be the one lying there.
Bella gently advised from the side, âElisa, your health isnât fully recovered yet. Itâs not good for you to get too emotional. Letâs go back. We shouldnât disturb Rachelâs rest.â
Elisaâs feet felt as if they were filled with lead, unable to take a step. She couldnât bear to take her eyes off the ran one, lying there with her fate unknown? What should I do if she spends the rest of her life lying there?
âWerenât we supposed to go see the Northern Lights together? You havenât fulfilled your promise yet. If you dare to leave this world now, Iâll drag you back from the underworld. In those cases you handled before, the clients were all vulnerable groups.
Without you, they canât afford a lawyer, and theyâll get bullied. So many things are waiting for you to do, so you must wake up when youâve had enough rest.. Donât just lie there.â Elisa murmured through the glass. Bella, who was standing nearby, heard her and felt. a pang in her heart.
On one hand, it was disheartening to see a once vibrant person spend the latter half of their life lying in bed, barely alive.
On the other hand, Bella didnât want to see the spirited Elisa trapped in a lifetime of memories and guilt, unable to break free.
This shouldnât have been the end for the two of them.
