Chapter 1506

“OMG!” Ada exclaimed. She acted as if she had just touched the God of Misfortune and threw the mask in her hand to the floor in disdain.

“I thought you were some out-of-the-world beauty and that’s why Carty kept ignoring me. I didn’t expect you to look like this! No wonder you’re always wearing a mask. Oh gosh, you’re so hideous! No, you’re not hideous, you’re horrifying!”

Ada did not keep any propriety in her speech at all. She kept on waving her hand.

“Somebody come here! Get me some disinfectant! I just touched this person’s mask and I don’t know if I might get infected!”

“I think so,” Madeline uttered those three words slowly from her lips.

Ada was taken aback when she heard that. “What did you say?”

“I was answering your question,” Madeline replied seriously, “My face is so horribly disfigured and there might still be a lot of toxic bacteria on it. You ripped my mask just now, so I think you must’ve touched the bacteria on the mask too. You must be careful.”

“…” Ada’s expression changed. “You’re saying that I’ll become like you?”

“Yeah, you’ll become like this too.”

“…” When Ada heard this, her face turned pale from panic. Then, she pointed at Madeline and screeched. “You framed me on purpose!”

After she said that, Carter appeared on the staircase.

Ada quickly ran to Carter to tell on Madeline. “Carty, that woman framed me! Her face is toxic and I touched her mask. My hand will rot too!”

Carter frowned and walked past Ada in displeasure to walk in front of Madeline.

“I saw the video of you falling into the lake online. How’s your face?” Carter asked straightforwardly.

Madeline was surprised. “You called me back to ask me this?”

“What else?”

“…” Madeline was shocked. Then, she said, “Thanks for your concern, Mr. Carter. My face is fine.”

“What Mr. Carter? You’re my girlfriend. You can just call me Carter.” Carter deliberately emphasized the word ‘girlfriend’.

Madeline eventually remembered that they were pretending to be a couple. When she noticed the dissatisfaction on Ada’s face, she said cooperatively, “Okay, Carter.”

Carter nodded in satisfaction. “You should go back to your room. I’ll get the doctor to take a look at you.”

“No need.” Madeline rejected. She did not tell Carter that she had gone to see Adam. She could not let him know about her true identity. “Don’t worry, my face is fine now.”

“You’re fine, but I’m not!” Ada bit her pink lip angrily. “Carty, are you insane? How can you marry a freak and make her the daughter-in-law of the Louis family?”

“Shut up,” Carter interrupted Ada angrily. Ada quickly shut her mouth and became as silent as a mouse. Even though she was displeased, she could only get angry in secret and did not dare to voice out her anger.

Carter turned around and grabbed Madeline’s wrist without saying anything before leading her upstairs.

When they were upstairs, Madeline removed her wrist from Carter’s grip immediately.

Carter turned around in dissatisfaction. “Remember what I told you. You’re my fiancée now.”

He sounded like he was reminding her, but his tone sounded more like a warning.

At this moment, Carter’s entourage rushed to him and whispered in his ear.

Madeline saw a mysterious smile on Carter’s face.

He looked at Madeline and said lazily, “You said Jeremy let you down, abandoned you, and married another woman, right?”

“…” Madeline did not know why Carter was asking her this all of a sudden. However, she nodded without hesitation.

Carter smirked superficially. “Come with me. I’ll let you see the actual situation now.”

‘What?’

Madeline did not understand what the man was saying. Now, she could only follow him to see what was going on.
