Chapter 1505

Adam gave her a firm answer. Even though he did not tell her who the man was, Madeline knew who it was in her heart.

“Cathy and I were from the same university,” said Adam. When he said this, Madeline could see that his eyes were full of youthful energy from his younger days.

“We were in the same faculty. She was cheerful and gorgeous, so she was the most popular girl in the entire faculty while I was her senior. We always did experiments together and even went to the library to read together. I know the person she loved was Felipe, but that man did not love her.”

Adam said calmly. There was no resentment nor repulsion toward Felipe in his words. On the other hand, there was a slight smile on his face.

“I was surprised when Cathy suddenly came to find me in Glendale that time. I didn’t know you guys knew each other. I was happy to see her again because she left before she graduated from university. I didn’t have her contact, so I finally had a chance to contact her that time.

“I knew she wasn’t happy, but she was always so optimistic in front of me. The private doctor Felipe had in F Country was actually my teacher. When Cathy was on the brink of death, he notified me.”

As it turned out, they knew each other.

Madeline’s suspicions in her heart were gradually solved. However, there was still something she did not understand.

“If I’m not mistaken, Cathy was shot in the heart that time, so how did she avert the disaster?”

Adam laughed and sighed when he heard this.

“Cathy knew everything about Felipe, but Felipe didn’t know anything about her. He also didn’t know that her heart is on the right side.

“Cathy did lose a lot of blood back then, but the bullet did not hurt any of her vital organs and that’s why she could safely make it out of peril.”

When Madeline found out what happened, she felt that it was extremely fortunate.

“Thank God you were around.” Madeline lamented and praised, “Adam, you’re amazing.”

However, Adam chuckled in regret. “If I’m amazing enough, then Cathy wouldn’t be treating me as only her friend. Even though I’m lying to her and say that we’re husband and wife, she still doesn’t have any feelings for me.”

Madeline could sense Adam’s love for Cathy. However, one could not control feelings.

“Cathy is living a good life now. I won’t let Felipe take her away.”

“To be honest, Felipe is extremely remorseful. The person he had been keeping in his heart had always been Cathy but he had no idea.”

Madeline explained on behalf of Felipe, but after she said that, she realized that she did not have the right to say this.

Cathy had suffered so much and it was all thanks to Felipe.

The emotional and physical hurt she suffered could not be wiped away with just remorse or apologies.

Madeline did not stay long. After she thanked Adam, she went back to Carter’s manor.

On the way, Madeline did not notice a car following her.

After Madeline went into the manor, she felt that something was amiss.

When she got to the living room, Madeline knew what was going on.

The young woman who called herself the matriarch of this house was now sitting on the sofa. When she saw Madeline, she lifted her eyes that were covered with a layer of delicate makeup and arrogantly sized Madeline up with disdain.

However, she soon changed her attitude from that day and smiled before greeting Madeline, “Hello, I’m Carty’s childhood sweetheart and best friend. My name’s Ada. I was rude that day, but I hope you won’t mind. I’m here to apologize to you today.”

She said and got up to walk in front of Madeline. She extended her hand.

“Let’s be friends.”

To be frank, Madeline could sense something sinister behind the woman’s smile. However, she hoped that she was just overthinking. As such, she reached out her hand to shake the woman’s hand.

“Hello, I’m Eveline.”

“Uh-huh.” The woman smiled superficially.

Madeline smiled back at her, but before their hands could touch each other’s, the woman lifted her hand suddenly and ripped the mask off her face when Madeline was caught off guard.
