Chapter 1504
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
âThe twins donât belong to you and Cathy, right?â
After Adam heard that, he unfurrowed his tightly knitted brows.
He looked at Cathy who was playing with the children before getting up. âAmy, Iâm taking the patient to my office. If you feel bored, you can take the children out first. Iâve already made the reservation for the restaurant.â
When Amy heard that, she turned around and looked at Madeline before nodding.
âGo on with your business. Iâll wait for you.â
âOkay.â Adam smiled warmly and pointed to the office. âCome with me.â
Madeline nodded and followed after him. She remembered the last time she came here was for Jeremyâs treatment. She did not think that today would be her turn.
Adam did not answer the questions about the two children. On the other hand, he helped Madeline check the wounds on her face carefully and considerately.
After the check-up, he looked at two reports seriously.
âAdam, tell me the truth. Do I really have the chance to recover my face?â Madeline asked anxiously.
âDo you know whatâs the job of a doctor?â
âSaving people,â Madeline answered without hesitating.
Adam smiled and said, âFor me, itâs not just saving people. I want to challenge the medical problems that people deem impossible to solve.â
He said and looked at Madeline. There was an abnormally bright glint in his calm black eyes.
âBack then, you were able to give birth to your son under such horrendous circumstances and it was the most perfect problem that I solved in recent years. So, today, Iâll help you as well. At the same time, Iâll be able to help myself solve this seemingly difficult question.â
When Madeline heard this, her eyes lit up like how they used to back then.
She was excited when she heard that. When she was about to ask if this was true, she thought that it was unnecessary.
If Adam could rebuild Cathyâs face, then it meant that his hands were extremely skilled.
Plus, he was not an ordinary doctor. He knew and understood a lot of things.
âDid you have a doctor treating your wounds before?â Adam asked. He walked to his shelf to look for something.
âItâs Carterâs doctor. Heâs responsible for treating my face. According to him, my face is still salvageable, but itâll take a very long time.â
Adam nodded. âThis is indeed something that needs patience. I hope you can keep a calm state of mind. You donât have to pay attention to those people online with no propriety in speech and are attacking your looks.â
Madeline smiled while feeling at ease. âIâm used to the way those people at the scene talk about me and look at me, let alone the ones online. Their reactions are normal. However, I feel even more scared because of this. Iâm worried how terrified Jack and Lily will be if they see their mother like this.â
There was a flash of pity in Adamâs eyes but it quickly went away.
With Madelineâs strong and resilient attitude, he felt that Madeline would not want pity and sympathy.
He grabbed the syringe with the reagent and turned around to walk to Madeline. âIâll give you a shot to get rid of the inflammation and swelling. When the wounds on your face start to form scabs, Iâll have a way to get rid of the marks. As for the slightly worse areas, Iâll use another way to treat them.â
Adam smiled and promised.
âI canât promise you that Iâll be able to restore your looks to the way they were before, but Iâm confident to help you find back the courage to stand in front of Jeremy.â
It would be enough to help her find her courage.
Madeline looked at the man in front of her. âThank you, Adam. Youâve helped me a lot before and even now.â
âItâs my duty. You donât have to thank me.â Adamâs answer was as carefree and confident as usual.
After Madeline received the shot, the discomfort on her face started fading away.
This feeling calmed Madeline down as well.
She wanted to know more about the treatment with Adam when Carter called her.
Madeline had to leave, but before he left, Adam called out to her suddenly.
âYou asked me just now if the twins donât belong to me and Cathy. Iâm going to tell you now that youâre right. Those arenât our children.â
Madeline looked at Adam with curiosity after she heard that. A face then appeared in her head. âSo the childrenâs father isâ¦â
âYes, itâs him.â
