Chapter 1205
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Jeremyâs comment comforted Madeline.
She was no longer feeling anxious, but she was more puzzled.
When she was still trying to decipher what Jeremy was trying to say, the police came bursting into the house to look for Jeremy.
âMr. Whitman, youâre found to be related to a murder case. Please follow us back to the police station for further investigation.â The police officer who led the group had a serious look on his face. As he explained, he tried to place the handcuffs over Jeremyâs hands.
âI can follow you guys back for further investigation, but since thereâs no evidence to prove me guilty, no one is allowed to use such a method to bring me away.â Jeremy looked at the handcuffs, and with much cooperation given, he walked to the doorway on his own accord.
âJeremy!â Madeline caught up to him, and so did Jackson as well as Lillian.
Jeremyâs footsteps came to a halt when he saw the two little kids catching up to him.
He smiled gently at Madeline. âLinnie, wait for me at home with the kids. Iâll be back safe and sound.â
Madelineâs eyes were all teary when she saw his passionate gaze. She nodded.
âAlright, Iâll be waiting for your return.â
Jeremy replied with another smile. He turned around to look at Lillian whose eyes were big as she was puzzled. Lillian was staring at him as he gave her a smile.
âLillian, Iâll never let anything happen to me. I still have to take care of you for a long timeâ¦â
It was not the first time Jeremy made an appearance at the police station.
He was calm when dealing with the so-called investigation.
âMr. Whitman, everyone is saying that you came out from the victimâs room. How are you going to explain that?â an officer questioned.
âI have nothing to explain. I had indeed entered her room,â Jeremy answered honestly with a calm tone, âBut when I entered her room, she was already dead.â
The policeman nodded and continued questioning. âPreviously, you and Lana were a couple, am I right?â
That question made Jeremy frown as he replied coldly, âExcept for my wife, Eveline, there has never been a second woman in my life.â
âBut previously, you and Lanaââ
âThat was just a mission given to me, as an undercover agent, by Interpol. Regarding this, you guys will know everything if you go and ask Interpol yourself.â Jeremy cut him short. He could not tolerate hearing others saying that he and Lana were a couple.
The policeman no longer touched on that issue, but suddenly emphasized, âAccording to what we know, Lana had once made your family, especially your daughter, endure terrible torture. As such, you and your wife, Eveline, hate this woman very much.
âAlso, someone else came to report that they once saw your wife grabbing Lanaâs neck with the intention to kill Lana. You and your wife both have very strong motives for killing Lana.â
âDonât get my wife involved in this. Sheâd never kill anyone,â Jeremy emphasized, feeling cross.
âYour wife would never kill others, so you took the initiative to do so.â The police officer made a pose as if he was determined to charge him with the crime.
Jeremyâs gaze darkened. âArrest me if you have the proof. Just stop getting my wife involved in this case.â
The officers no longer dared to use that method to interrogate Jeremy after seeing his stony expression.
â¦
Madeline could not calm herself and quietly followed Jeremy to the police station.
She sat in the car where she kept on waiting. However, an hour had passed and Jeremy was still not out yet.
She refreshed her news feed. There was a piece of news that stated Jeremy and Lana used to be a couple. It said that Lana had gone against Madeline just to get Jeremyâs heart and even bullied Madelineâs kid.
âThe part about the bullying is true, but the first part is fabricated.â
Madeline was anxious, and just when she thought of getting out of the car to get some fresh air, she saw Ryan coming out from the police station.
A sudden thought came to her as she picked up her pace. âRyan.â
Ryan stopped and saw Madeline running to him, catching him by surprise.
However, he could guess Madelineâs reason for appearing here. Ryan placed one of his hands into his pocket and put on a faint smile. âAre you waiting for Jeremy? I think youâre better off leaving. He wonât be able to leave this place.â
