Chapter 1042
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Fabian retaliated reasonably. âThis is my younger sister. Who didnât shower with their brother when they were younger? Whatâs wrong with looking?! Besides, I was just changing Lilyâs clothes. Itâs not as obscene as you think!â
Earl and Red covered their mouths and snickered upon hearing that.
In the room, Fabian was serious about changing Lilyâs clothes. He even asked Earl and Red to go to the mall to buy some clothes immediately as he gently dried Lilyâs hair and wiped her face.
Seeing the color on the little girlâs face gradually recovering, a relieved smile slowly appeared on Fabianâs face.
âWith me here, Lillian will definitely be fine.â
He promised, but it was very strange how Lily ended up in the pool at home.
Although he did not have the brains for business like Yorick did, he was not stupid either.
He quickly thought of Lana and decided to ask Lana for an explanation after Lillian woke up.
â¦
Madeline and Ryan searched in the park for a long time but did not find any trace of Lily. They pulled some strings to check the surveillance footage but also found nothing suspicious.
The sky gradually darkened. Madeline came out from the park entrance wearily. Looking at the traffic on the road, her tears rolled down silently.
Ryan walked toward her and took out a handkerchief to gently wipe off the tears on her face.
âDonât be so worried, weâll find her. If sheâs been kidnapped, the other party wonât hurt Lillian without getting the money.â
Ryan comforted gently.
Madeline looked at the rows of lampposts in front of her, her tears flickering under the dim lights.
âLillian means a lot to me. It was this child who gave me the courage to live during my darkest and most painful moments in life. She isnât just my daughter, sheâs my hope.
âI just want to live a peaceful life, but why is that so difficult?â
âIâve already lost my dear parents and can no longer reunite with the man who I once wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Why is it still not enough? Is it because I was born ominous and thatâs why everyone around me has to leave me one by one?â
Madeline broke down into tears. Ryan reached out with a serious expression and hugged Madeline.
He felt sad and sorry for her, so he comforted her.
âGod always likes to sharpen the good people. Maybe He wishes you to become better.â
Madeline shook her head. âI donât want to be better. Sometimes, I just want to be a girl whoâs weak and has emotions. I want to be protected by the ones I love. I just want to have a shoulder to lean on when Iâm tired.â
âYouâve found it. Iâm the safe haven you can rely on for the rest of your life.â Ryan hugged Madeline tighter and planted a loving kiss on the top of her head.
Lana intentionally drove Jeremy to the entrance of the park.
She initially wanted to see the anguished look on Madeline when she could not find her child, but she saw Ryan hugging Madeline instead. The position the two of them were in looked suggestive.
She took a look at Jeremyâs expression and found that Jeremy had only taken a glance before looking away with disdain.
âJeremy, your ex-wife is over there. Do you wanna say hello?â Lana asked tentatively.
âTheyâre on a sweet date, so why should we bother them? Letâs go.â Jeremy looked askance nonchalantly, but there was already a surge of unspeakable pain in his heart. This pain gradually eroded his consciousness and pulled at his emotions.
Seeing the person he loved leaning in another personâs arms, the scene assassinated his heart. He felt a familiar, bloody smell spreading to his throat again.
He did not want to face it and wanted to leave, but Lana suddenly got out of the car and walked toward Madeline and Ryan.
