Chapter 11
Campfires & Rainbows
"WAKE UP!!!!" Tiffany and Eva jumped on me.
"NOOOO," I groaned, turning on my other side to check my phone.
"YESSSS!" They hissed in unison.
It was 4:15, I personally believe nobody should be awake this early. There should be a law against that or something.
"We have two hours until the bus leaves, let me sleep." I pushed them off me.
"But we need to get you ready, you need to look extra fine today." Tiffany jumped off the bed and rummaged through my clothes.
I sat up still groggy and grumpy. All the girls were up and out of there beds, except Tiny. She was laying on her bed staring up at the ceiling.
"Oooooh, look at this!" Tiffany pulled out a black crop top, a short maroon circle skirt and some heels. All the girls oohed and awed at the outfit.
"Um, no, it's really cute but I'm going to be walking all day and those heels are going to kill me. Also it is way too hot to be wearing a leather jacket. What about something more... casual?"
All the girls dramatically rummaged through their bags, throwing clothing over their heads, they were honestly over thinking this.
"OOOOH, what about those one?" Eva held up a grey tank top that said OKAY, BUT FIRST COFFEE. ââââââ"Ya know? Since her last name is Grey and the shirt is Grey. And since you're going to Starbucks. IT'S PERFECT!
"I think it's really cute but it's... not my style."
Mia pulled out a pink tank top, and some white jeans ripped at the knees.
"Mia! That outfit looks perfect!" I exclaimed, jumping off my bed. Mia isn't the most confident person here, so I try and compliment her as much as possible. She shyly smiled and handed me the clothing.
"I think you should wear it with your white converse and maybe tie a knot on the shirt." I did as Mia said and the outfit looked really, really good.
I decided to leave my hair down, but grabbed an extra hair tie incase I changed my mind. All the girls were getting ready except Tiny, who was still staring up at the ceiling.
"You coming? "I sat on her bed, taking her attention from the ceiling.
"No, I just don't feel like going." She turned on her left side to face the wall away from me.
ÃÃÃÃÃ
The bus ride took 2 hours so I was able to catch up on some sleep. I woke up to the bus haulting.
"Hey, Devin!" Quinn waved her hand from the front of the bus making her way to me.
"So, does 2 o'clock sound good?" She asked once she got to me.
"Yeah, it sounds good. I'll meet our at Starbucks at 2." I managed to smile, still groggy.
"Okay, great! Oh, and um Devin you got a little something right here," she said pointing at the tip of her lips. Then, she turned on her heels and ran to her friends.
I turned to Tiffany, "What do I have? "
Tiffany snorted, "Oh, nothing, just some dried drool."
"EW!" I intensely tried scrubbing off the drool, mainly embarrassed Quinn was the one who pointed it out to me.
As we got off the bus, a leader handed each of us $25 and told us to be back by 3:30.
ÃÃÃ
"CHIPOTLE!!!" Eve screamed running towards the building like a crazy person.
We followed after her, but you know... less crazy.
The cold air of the AC in Chipotle surrounded us, protecting us from the hot, muggy, wet weather outside.
I ordered a burrito with steak, white rice, pinto beans, sour cream, and some guacamole. OH! And some lettuce just to make myself feel less unhealthy.
I paid for my burrito and joined Eva who was sitting at a table by the window.
"Ah, Chipotle is so much healthier and better than all those other places like McDonald's," Eva sang taking a bite into her burrito.
"You do know McDonald's owns Chipotle, right?" I smirked.
She stopped chewing midway through, "My whole life life is a lie!" She cried out in dramatic agony.
Once Eva calmed down, we were all sitting at the table arguing on whether it is yanny or Laurel.
"I know it's Laurel! Those of you who think it's yanny are probably all in on this one big joke trying to trick everyone else!" Tiffany exclaimed.
"No, you're crazy it CLEARLY says YANNYYYYYY." Eva exclaimed, slamming her fist on the table.
"Whoa, whoa, okay, okay, okay." I put my hands out to calm everyone. "There's only one way we can solve this,"
"Proceed, " Nicole narrowed her eyes.
"We should ask Siri."
"BRILLIANT!!!" Eva shrieked.
I grabbed my phone and asked Siri, "Hey, Siri, do you hear Yanny or Laurel?"
"Laurel, and that dress was blue."
"Yes!" I pumped my fists in the air.
"That dress was not blue, you need to get a new phone." Tiffany shook her head.
"THAT DRESS WAS BLUE!" Nicole yelled a little too loudly.
"No, it was gold and white, if the dress were blue it would be ugly. The dress looks better in white and gold."
"Nooo-" Eva knocked down Nicole's drink.
"I'll get the napkins," I sighed.
I calmly walked to the counter to ask for some napkins and once the handed them to me I turned face to face with this .
He had green eyes, messy chestnut hair, and tanish skin. He was wearing a leather jacket with a black t-shirt and black jeans.
"Oh! Sorry, excuse me," I quickly got out of his face and tried to weave around him.
"Hey! HEY! Wait!" He cut in front of me again blocking my path.
I could see behind his shoulder my friend's attention was on us ready to help me.
I faked a polite smile, "How may I help you?"
"Well, you're hot, and I was thinking maybe we could hook up sometime. What's your Snapchat?"
The Chipotle wasn't busy, so it was pretty quiet and the boy didn't bother speaking quietly so the girls definitely heard. Tiffany stood up and approached us, the rest of the girls followed along.
"Um, no, thank you." I smiled politely hoping not to cause a scene.
"What?" The boy's smirk changed into a glare honestly scaring me.
Did you know there was a study done that said boys tend to be afraid that women will laugh at them. While women were afraid men would kill them. That says a lot, it's not good.
"Um, you're v-very good looking and I'm flattered but I-I'm not really attracted to boys." He took another step closer to me, severely violating my personal space. "I'M A LESBIAN!" I said quickly, out of fear.
His glare softened but he didn't step away and I was against a table leaning as far back as possible. "Oh, cool, so you'd be open to a threesome?"
"Leave her alone," I could see Tiffany's finger appear over his shoulder and tap it ferociously.
"I'm not doing anything I'm just asking if-" the guy protested.
"She's not interested," Nicole cut him of narrowing her eyes at him.
"She's just confused, maybe she hasn't met the right man yet."
Asmaa cleared her throat and spoke in her beautiful Arabian accent, "I'm sorry sir but are you sexually attracted to pigs?"
The guy made a disgusted face, "No."
"Well, maybe, you just haven't met the right pig yet," Asmaa smirked.
He rolled his eyes, "Oh, my God, don't tell me, you're all lesbian too!"
"No, actually I'm asexual," Tiffany announced standing up taller.
Eva joined in, "I'm a PROUD pansexual!"
Riley cleared her throat, "Bisexual."
Megan and Mia both spoke up at the same time, "I'm transgender."
Natalie poke up, "I'm skoliosexual!"
"I actually am lesbian," Asmaa smiled to herself.
"And I'm demisexual," Nicole announced with one finger in the air.
"Whatever, you're all just a bunch of mental freaks, who-"
"Excuse me, sir, I'm going to have to ask you leave."
"What! Why Me?!" the guy yelled, "THEIR marriage isn't even legal here in Missouri!" He screeched, pointing at us accusingly.
But what he said was right. Gay marriage is illegal in Missouri, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia.
"SIR, I AM GOING TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE ONE LAST TIME BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE!"
"YOU KNOW WHAT? FINE! "
After the door closed, everything was silent.
"Are you girls, okay?" The employee made their way to us looking worried. "Are you on a school trip?"
"No, we're from a gay camp," Eva explained cheerfully as if we hadn't just encountered a homophobic lunatic.
"OH! I know that camp! I went there when I was in high school!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, they helped me learn how to accept and love myself."
"Wow! I don't want to sound rude but what do you identify as?"
"I'm a Non-Binary, aromantic, asexual," they smiled at us.
"WOW, cool!" Eva exclaimed. "You are also amazing, thank you for helping us out."
"Of course," they warmly smiled.
Tiffany checked her phone, "WE'RE LATE, FOR OUR DATE WITH QUINN!"
"You mean MY date?"
"Yeah, whatever let's GO," Tiffany pushed me out the door, thanking the employee for the hundredth time.
For all my dear readers who might not know what skoliosexual means, it is someone who is attracted to Non-Binary people.
