Lord Chapter 781
The Almighty Lord Caspian
Chapter 781 Leaving after Failure
Jett was about to succeed when Joey and her subordinates suddenly Joined the fray. Not only were all personnel from the Inspector Generalâs office armed, but they also represented the stance of Diatoranâs authorities.
Even if a conflict arose between the office and Life Force, resulting in Life Force being wiped out, Jerry could not express his disapproval about that.
âChief Sanders, weâre here under the orders of Jerry Andrews, the trusted advisor of the King, to deal with Caspian Lynch. He has plotted to start a rebellion. âDonât stick your nose into a business that isnât yours!â Jett mentioned the name of his backer, intending to shock Joey into giving in.
âUnder the trusted advisorâs orders? Do you have any proof? You donât look like you have any good intentions, either. So tell me, who on Earth are you?â Joey asked coldly.
Almost everyone in Life Force had some form of criminal record, and that would surely be revealed if the authorities investigated them.
âChief Sanders, Caspian just committed murder when so many people were watching. Why are you hounding me instead of going after that murderer? Are you perhaps Caspianâs accomplice?â
Joey turned to ask Caspian, âDid you just kill someone?â
âYeah, I did it,â Caspian replied nonchalantly.
Joey felt somewhat helpless. She had wanted to defuse the situation in Caspianâs favor, but she could only approach it impartially now that Caspian had admitted to committing a crime.
However, Caspian added, âAll of them have interesting backgrounds, though. If you investigate them, youâll discover their criminal records. The deaths of people like them arenât worthy of being lamented.â
Jett was panicked upon hearing Caspianâs words, as almost everyone in Skyarch Palace had blood on their hands. This was why they could never hold up under an investigation.
Joey ordered, âTransport the dead b*dy back to the office and investigate his identity. Iâll make a decision after everything is made clear.â
Two employees working for the office came over. They were about to carry the b*dy away when a mentee from Life Force said, âThis wonât do. The dead must be

respected, which means they must be given a proper burial. You canât take the dead b*dy away!â
âSo? Do you dare stop us from doing our jobs?â Joey asked coldly.
Jett stepped out as well, adding, âBack where we come from, itâs customary that we bury the dead as soon as possible after their deaths. Please understand that.â
He knew that this operation would end with nothing but failure, seeing as Joey had suddenly appeared. He waved at his mentees, saying, âWhat are you still standing here for? Carry the b*dy with us! Caspian, weâll deal with whatâs between us later!â
He then left with his subordinates. Joey wanted to attack him, but Caspian stopped her from doing so. Caspian whispered, âItâs good that theyâre leaving. Donât piss off these men. If Jerry issues another order, youâll have to comply obediently anyway.â
Joey replied nonchalantly, âIâm in Southlake City, so why should I listen to him?â
Caspian advised, âDonât do anything dumb, Your position as chief of the Inspector Generalâs office is very important.â
âI wonât let it sl*p a second time. If I ever hear that youâve killed innocent people, Iâll arrest you myself.â Joey knew that Caspian was showing concern toward her through his words, and it made her blush.
After Jett and his men left, Macy came over hurriedly. She looked at Caspian worriedly, asking, âWhat happened, Lord Caspian? It seemed like those people were all martial artists!â
Caspian said to her, âWhy werenât you here just now? Itâs fortunate that Joey came on time. I wouldâve become an invalid otherwise.â
âIâI went to arrest an enemy secret agent,â Macy replied.
Caspian could already guess how that ended from Macyâs expression. âYou failed, didnât you?â
This surprised Caspian. Not only was the enemy leader exceptionally skilled in concealing himself, but he had also succeeded in escaping from under Macyâs and Lainaâs watchful eyes!
It seemed that this person was really good at what he did.
âHe escaped despite our efforts, but he also got shot. Iâve already contacted pharmacies and hospitals nearby. I told them to take note of any suspicious visitors,â Macy said.

Macy failed to arrest the sniper, but she was certain that she could eventually do it as long as the enemy was still within the borders of Diatoran.
Caspian nodded and said nothing more. If this man had the ability to escape, it meant that he was also skilled in counterâsurveillance. Arresting him would not be easy.
Macy felt guilty. âWho wouldâve thought that heâd be hiding in the green belt?â
At this moment, Laina rushed over as well. She was also feeling discouraged after failing to arrest the enemyâs leader. Task Force Rose was known for their skills in secret assassinations and concealment, so this incident had really taught her a lesson.
Caspian reassured them, âItâs not all your fault. This man is detailâoriented, bold, and very skilled.â
There were more important missions that required Macyâs and Lainaâs prowess. He did not want them to wallow in selfâdoubt. Macy and Laina had both fought countless battles and had strong mental fortitude.
They would be executing their plan to save the King in a few days. Caspian had been worried since learning that the King was under a spell. He wanted to do nothing more than to charge into the Kingâs residence and save His Majesty.
After this short intermission, the employees of Southlake Corporation got down to work. The massive excavators and bulldozers were also put to work. Even Willow and Zoey joined in as well.
Half an hour later, Caspian came to Willow, whose face was caked with soil and dirt. She looked nothing like the CEO of a company.
Caspian wiped a little of the soil from Willowâs face with his finger before whispering, âLetâs go home, honey. I have something else to do tonight.â
Right after saying that, Caspian heard the sounds of leather boots stepping on the ground. He did not even need to think about who that was. It was Sylvia, of
course.
Sylvia went over to Caspian and asked in concern, âAre you still doing okay, Lord Caspian? Whereâs the enemy?â
Macy was still angry, so she snapped at Sylvia sarcastically the moment she appeared. âHah! A general officer is above everyone else, huh? Youâre late! Even Lord Caspian isnât enough reason for you to come!â

Sylvia was stunned as she did not expect Macy to attribute so much to her tardiness.
She said, feeling wronged, âI couldnât help it, Lord Caspian. I wasnât in a position to leave. Also, didnât you say that youâd meet me tonight?â
Caspian was already very happy that Sylvia could come, actually. He was without an official position now. Jerry would surely punish Sylvia and the others if he learned that they had come to meet him.
âSure, youâre the only one whoâs busy, and the rest of us are all lying here and doing nothing. But of course, youâre a general officer, after all! Itâs expected that youâd conduct yourself like a highâranking officer!â Macy continued
exasperatedly.
Sylvia was suddenly angered. âMacy, why are you coming after me so relentlessly and angrily? I didnât do anything to offend you, did I?â
She had always been close to Macy. Something was obviously not right with this lady today!
