Lord Chapter 37
The Almighty Lord Caspian
Chapter 37 Pressed for Time
Caspian, Sylvia, and the rest were relieved to see the fighter jets.
The roars of the fighter jetsâ engines and the bangs from the missiles hitting their targets thundered
together.
The Apex Legion hidden on both mountainsides were pulverized.
Soon, Diatoranâs elite forces arrived on the battlefield as well.
When they saw the wreckage of the three off-road vehicles and Caspianâs injury, they were able to deduce
how intense the fight had been earlier.
âLord Caspian, we, the Special Forces, have been ordered to ensure your safety!â The leader of the special
forces unit saluted Caspian.
âThe enemy is hidden on both sides of the mountain. Get rid of them at once!â Caspian ordered.
âYes, sir!â The special forces unit did not delay. They swiftly mounted a forceful attack on both sides.
Howls and cries of agony echoed through the mountains as Tigraâs Apex Legion came under heavy fire.
Tanks and missile launchers appeared as well, and another wave of fierce attacks was leveled at both
mountainsides.
In the end, the army arrived. They swiftly surrounded Caspian and protected him on all sides.
John followed closely behind.
When he saw Caspianâs wounded and bleeding arm, he was terrified and filled with remorse.
âAre you alright, Lord Caspian?â John checked anxiously.
âItâs fine. Itâs just a scratch. You donât need to make such a big deal out of it,â Caspian said indifferently.
âIt is my fault that you got injured, Lord Caspian!â John said vexedly.
âYou did well. The reinforcements came just in time. How did you know that I would be ambushed?â-
Caspian asked.
âSoon after you left, I received classified intelligence detailing the enemyâs plan to assassinate you. After
hearing that they intended to ambush you along the way, I immediately rushed over. Still, it was too late,â
John said with a look of regret.
âI see. Letâs not talk about it for now. Tell your people to stop advancing. The enemy mustâve been blown
The heavy bombardment had obliterated both mountainsides, and the enemy would have already been
decimated.
âUnderstood!â
John quickly gave the order. âCease fire! Send people to canvas the area. Capture anyone whoâs still alive!
We wonât show them any mercy!â
Upon receiving the order, Johnâs subordinates sent out people to search the mountains.
âWhereâs the army doctor? Come over and tend to Lord Caspianâs injury!â John yelled after seeing how
serious Caspianâs arm injury was.
The army doctor ran over to Caspian. After a preliminary check, he said, âLord Caspian, the bullet is
embedded too deeply. Thankfully, it didnât hit your bone. Iâll administer anesthetic and take the bullet out
first.â
âNo need. Iâm in a rush. Just take the bullet out as soon as possible and bandage my arm,â Caspian
instructed.
âThe bullet is too deep inside your arm. If I donât administer anesthetic, youâll faint from the pain!â the
army doctor exclaimed in shock.
âItâs fine. In the old days, people even chopped their limbs off without using anesthetic. If they can do it,
so can I. Donât waste any more time. Hurry up and do it.â Caspian was getting impatient.
The sun had risen. He needed to go and pick Willow up.
If he used anesthetic now, half his b*dy would be numb. He did not like that sensation.
âLord Caspian, under these circumstances, are you still going to hold your wedding as planned?â John
was taken aback.
âI have to be a man of my word. I promise my wife I will give her a grand wedding today no matter what, so I tend to do just that,â Caspian firmly declared.
âBut, based on the intelligence we received, there would be two possible ambushes. One would be during your journey back to Southlake City, while the other would be at your wedding venue.
âNow that their first attempt has failed, they might attack during the wedding. We donât know what their plan is. Diatoran needs you. We canât risk you being in any danger!â John emphasized.
âWhy would I, Lord Caspian, be afraid of an assassination attempt? If I cancel the wedding now, it would not only be an embarrassment for me but for Diatoran as well! How will the soldiers risking their lives on
âEven though this is only a wedding ceremony, it affects far more than just my marriage. We must proceed as planned!â Caspian was adamant.
âWell â¦â John paused for a while before saying, âYouâre right, Lord Caspian. Still, my superiors have instructed me to protect you at all costs, so I have a request. We need to make some changes to the
wedding ceremony.
âOtherwise, if something happens to you, Iâd be losing my head as well.â
âWhat do you have in mind?â Caspian asked.
âWe must send troops to surround the Jade Dragon Grand Hotel and ensure nothing goes wrong,â John.
said.
âIsnât that a bit too conspicuous?â Caspian was hesitant.
âSince the enemy has infiltrated Southlake City, we need to be conspicuous. Let them know the first
assassination attempt has failed. That way, they wonât dare to act recklessly.â
John continued, âYouâre Lord Caspian. Youâre my superior. However, it is my responsibility to protect you.
Even if you disagree, I have the power to override you.â
âFine. You can make the arrangements as you see fit,â Caspian said helplessly.
Though he did not want to make such a big fuss, he had no choice now.
âThank you for being so understanding, Lord Caspian. Also, the enemy mightâve infiltrated the hotel as
well. That would make the situation even more dangerous.
âI suggest sending two female special forces soldiers to disguise as Lady Willowâs bridesmaids and
protect her,â John said.
âAlright. Youâre very thorough. I feel assured knowing that our safety is in your hands,â Caspian praised.
John had covered all the bases.
âYouâre too kind, Lord Caspian. How many more groomsmen do you need, Lord Caspian? I would like to
arrange a few people-â
âSure. You decide,â Caspian said with a nod before John finished his sentence.
âWhy donât you return to the southern base with me first?â John suggested.
âWhy?â Caspian asked in confusion. âThereâs not enough time. We have to rush over to Southlake City at
once.â

âItâs your wedding day today, but look at you. Youâre covered in dust and dirt. You canât show up at your wedding looking like that. You need to clean up a bit,â John reminded.
Caspian once again realized how thorough John was. âAlright, then, but be quick. Weâre pressed for time.
My wife might get impatient.â
âRest assured, Lord Caspian. If Lady Willow is upset, Iâll take full responsibility for the delay,â John
declared.
Then, he added, âDonât worry, Lord Caspian. Once everything is ready, Iâll arrange for a helicopter to take
you to Lady Willow. If Lady Willow is furious, Iâll bear the brunt of it.â
âYes, yes. Letâs stop with the chatter and get going.â Caspian found that John was quite the chatterbox.
âYes, Lord Caspian.â John immediately made the arrangements.
He chose over a dozen formidable-looking female special forces soldiers to disguise themselves as
bridesmaids.
He also selected 20 handsome male special forces soldiers to act as Caspianâs groomsmen.
âIf you see my wife, tell her Iâll be a bit late, but Iâll definitely fulfill my promise!â Caspian said to the female
special forces soldiers.
