Lord Chapter 30
The Almighty Lord Caspian
Chapter 30 No Projects for the Stewart Family
âSure! Iâll be there with my priciest cars!â promised Jordan.
âI can even fly there with a helicopter, let alone a luxury car,â said Felix.
âI know the best how to be showy,â said Zac.
âThe cars in my garage are getting dusty. Iâll bring all of them,â said Harris.
Sylvia explained, âI wouldnât have troubled you with such matters if it werenât for Ms. Alicia. She is the second daughter of the Stewart family. She insists on competing with Lord Caspian to find out whose
wedding is grander.
âCoincidentally, both weddings are on the same day. So, we need your help to keep up appearances. How
could Lord Caspianâs wedding lose to someone elseâs?â
Everyone in Southlake City knew about that now.
âOh? How arrogant. How dare she compare herself to Lord Caspian? Sheâll only bring disgrace to herself.â
âIs she stupid?â
âWeâll be sure to crush her when the day comes!â
The heirs expressed their views.
Sylvia reminded them, âAlright. Thatâs all. I have other matters to attend to. Youâre all reputable figures in Dhord City. You should know what to do when the time comes.
âRemember, you and your cars must be in Southlake City on the morning of the 30th. Donât act on your
own whims!â
It was dark. Alicia and Henry approached Willow right after she reached home.
âWhat do you want?â Willow was frustrated at the sight of them.
âOh, Willow. Are we not allowed to visit you just because? But, indeed, we do have something to talk to
you about,â said Henry. He smiled awkwardly.
âWhat is it?â Willow asked.
âFirst of all, congratulations. Everyone knows youâre the project director of Southlake Corporation now!â
he said.
âDonât beat around the bush,â Willow said calmly.
âAlright, Iâll go straight to the point,â said Alicia.
She explained their intentions. âWeâre here on Grandmaâs request. She hopes you can help our family. You
can do that by handing us several projects from Southlake Corporation.â
âShe was the one who kicked me out of Stewart Group. Why would she ask you two to approach me?â
Willow asked impassively.
She had seen through them. The Stewart family consisted of a bunch of self-righteous people.
Every single one of them was a snob. They would outright ignore her when she was of no use to them.
âWe have been inconsiderate. Nevertheless, weâre still a family. Please help us.â It was Aliciaâs first time
pleading humbly with Willow.
âI canât,â said Willow.
Alicia was irked. âHow ruthless. You wonât even help your family?â
âItâs not that I refuse to help you. I just canât. The CEO has declared that we wonât collaborate with the
Stewart family.â
Willow had thought of helping Stewart Group. After all, her family worked there.
However, Miranda made it clear during the interview-it was the CEOâs decision. She dared not resist it..
Alicia demanded, âDo you think your excuse is believable? Do we look like fools to you? 1
âThe Stewart family has never wronged Southlake Corporation in any way. Thereâs no reason for them to
refuse our collaboration!â
âThink what you like.â Willow didnât want to waste her time on them.
âSo what if youâre now Southlake Corporationâs project director? Look at how arrogant you are about it.
Without your help, weâll still flourish!â With that, Alicia stood and stomped off.
âHow unreasonable!â Henry left too.
Caspian was preparing dinner. He overheard the entire conversation.
At first, he thought they would admit defeat and be kinder with their words. If so, he would agree to
partner with them on a project. After all, he wasnât that narrow-minded.
However, they didnât seem to know better. That was not how they should act when they were begging for
21
Caspian had no time for such matters. Anyway, the Stewart family would be on the losing end.
Willow went to the kitchen.
She asked, âCaspian, youâre close to Southlake Corporationâs CEO, arenât you? I have a favor to ask of you. Can you put in a word or two so he agrees to help Steward Group?â
Caspian didnât expect this from her after how Alicia and Henry treated her.
âWe were classmates, indeed. But youâre new to your job. If you do this, others will think youâre using your position to help the Stewart family.
âBesides, look at their attitudes. Letâs talk about it when they clear their minds and come with sincerity.â
Caspian wanted Willow to take over the corporation in the future. That was why he gave Willow the position of project director. Then, she would gain her familyâs respect.
However, they were still looking down on her till now. There wasnât an ounce of respect in the way they
spoke to her.
There wasnât any point in helping people like them.
âAlright. Weâll discuss it later.â Willow knew she was being greedy.
Caspianâs classmate had already helped him once. It wasnât appropriate to keep hounding him.
Alicia and Henry had it all thought out after they left.
Upon reaching home, Alicia put on a pitiful look.
She cried, âGrandma, Willow is truly merciless! I even dropped to my knees, but she didnât even bat an
eyelid.â
Henry chimed in, âYeah! I didnât think she would be so ruthless. Itâs okay if she refuses to help us, but she
even mocked us!â
âWas she really so savage?â Marilyn doubted them.
She understood Willowâs character. By right, she wouldnât have been so heartless.
âOh, yeah. Willowâs extremely confident now sheâs working at a famous corporation. She said in our faces, that we were nothing to her!â Alicia fanned the flames.
Henry looked indignant.
He said agitatedly, âShe even said you were the one who kicked her out of Steward Group. Even if you were there, she would still refuse to help.
âSheâs so petty. Why do we have to beg her? Even without Southlake Corporation, weâll slowly expand, too!
âCaspian was even more arrogant. He swore he would pay us back for insulting him back then! What a jerk! Why do we have to beg him?â Alicia said furiously.
âBastards!â Marilyn trembled with anger. âWillow Stewart! How dare she side with an outsider!â
âYeah! Now we know her true colors!â Alicia seconded.
âDidnât Caspian say he would hold his wedding on the 30th? He also said his wedding would be grander
than Aliciaâs, didnât he?â Marilyn asked Alicia.
âHe did. He said it before everyone. Have you come up with an idea, Grandma?â asked Alicia.
Marilynâs eyes glinted. She clenched her fists. âIâll disgrace Willow and her family on her wedding day!â
âHuh? Grandma, what are you planning?â Alicia asked immediately.
