Chapter 70
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa spent half the night convincing Dylan that she was not familiar with Sharon, and would never do anything like leaking his private phone number to another When Dylan left, she heard him snarl angrily, âKevan, that fucking son of a bitchr For almost half a month, life was peaceful.
Dylan delivered the petition and other documents to the court, who, after reviewing the case, had it filed for record and sent a copy of the petition to Travis.
Now that definitely stirred up the hometâs nest, and Travisâ parents made an appearance again after having gone off the grid for a long time. Except, they did not appear in person, but rather got the production crew of âThe Mediators Roomâ of the Covenford Local TV Station to find Larissa at the Regal Dynasty.
The crew wore work ID cards of the TV station and did not identify themselves at first. They only said that due to the requirements of the show, they wanted the housekeeping manager to cooperate with them.
Coincidentally, the lobby manager was not present today. Only two inexperienced young girls were available.
These girls had never seen this sort of thing before and only got super excited at the fact that people from the TV station had come. Not only did they allow the crew to go upstairs, but they even happily detailed the exact location of Larissaâs office.
Larissa had been working on a report when she heard someone knock on her door. She thought that it was strange as rarely did people come to her office. Usually, she would just be here alone working on documents and such.
Confused, she said, âCome in.â
The door opened to admit a man and two women, and Larissa knew none of them. She stood up anxiously and asked, âIs there something you need?â
who could get in here were normally hotel guests. The fact that they found ice meant that whatever issue they had was rather serious.
Larissa was just trying to figure out their motives when the spectacled, shortâhaired woman who entered first displayed her work ID tag to her and said, âGood day, Ms. Seymour. Weâre the editors of Covenford Local TV Stationâs program, The Mediators Roomâ.â
âThe Mediators Roomâ was one of Covenfordâs most highly viewed programs with nearly ten years of history. The show mainly helped mediate the troubles of the common folk, and sometimes promote national policies and regulations. Many middleâaged and elderly people loved its downâtoâearth content.
Many of the janitors in the Regal Dynasty were middleâaged women in their 40s. Larissa frequently heard them talking about the showâs contents from the day before when she took her meals with them, so she knew a little about the program even if she had never seen a single episode.
She just did not understand why the programâs editors would find her. She kept quiet and waited for elaboration on their side.
âWe are here on behalf of your motherâinâlaw, Ms. Janine Levange, to invite you to join our program and address the misunderstanding between the both of you.â
Larissa had dreamed of being on TV when she was a kid too, but she never thought that this would be how it went. She only felt that it was utterly ridiculous as to how her exâmotherâinâlaw could easily turn such a huge conflict into a mere â misunderstandingâ-and she certainly admired her for it.
âForgive me, I refuse.â Larissa denied their request.
âMs. Seymour, please consider it. Our show and your motherâinâlaw are sincere.â The shortâhaired editor tried to persuade her.
âMy apologies.â Larissa had no intention of giving them the room to discuss it, and she opened her office door to get them to leave.
The other female editor, a longâhaired woman, suddenly asked her, âMs. Seymour, are you refusing to join the show because of your guilt? After your husband was paralyzed from the car crash, you never took care of him at the hospital, and never even bothered to visit. Now that youâre trying to get rid of this burden, you sued him and wanted a divorce. You should know that this isnât a humane thing to do, right?â
â words were harsh, and her eyes were filled with scornful disdain toward Larissa.
ssa was able to contain her rage in time due to having developed strong mental fortitude after having worked in the hospitality industry for five to six years.
