Chapter 63
Sweet Subterfuge
This time it was Sharonâs turn to be confused.
âYouâre leaving? Where are you going?â
âSomething came up.â Larissa had no intention to tell her more. She simply dipped her head in farewell and said, âLetâs meet again in the future, Ms. Davis.â
www Kevan went back to the lounge with a stony face. The scattered crowd began to gather again.
However, this time, he no longer had the mood to deal with them and blocked them off without saying anything.
âMr. Rogers!â Sharon, who was sitting before the floorâtoâceiling window, waved at him.
Out of everyone in the villa, he was the closest to Sharon, and she was likely the only woman apart from Larissa who did not try to flatter him in any way. Hence, he went over to her and asked in a low voice, âIs there something you needed, Ms. Davis?â
Sharon did not hasten to answer his question, but she handed him the other glass of red wine from the table instead.
âI wonder if youâd be willing to drink with me.â She smiled, but Kevanâs eyes narrowed as his guard went up. She had never been this warm to him from the day they met until now. There was definitely something fishy going on with this.
âDonât think too much of it, Mr. Rogers.â Seeing that he had not moved, Sharon simply lay her cards on the table. âI just want to make a deal with you about Ms. Seymour.â
Hearing Larissaâs last name, Kevan stopped hesitating. He sat down and accepted the wine and said, âGo ahead, Ms. Davis.â
Knowing she had guessed right, Sharonâs smile grew bigger.
âGive me Dylanâs current personal phone number, and Iâll tell you where Ms. Seymour has gone.â
Many people knew about Dylanâs personal phone number. If Sharon really wanted it, she would be able to find it easilyâbut most certainly not from him. Kevan put his glass down. âMy apologies.â
Pulling out his phone, Kevan said pointedly, âI donât need to go through others to find Larissa.â
Sharon laughed lightly. âVery well, then.â She waved at him to carry on. âYou may call her right here. I donât mind.â
The calmer she was, the more Kevan found it suspicious. He went through his contacts and selected the first one on the list. However, the call never made it through. The robotic message started out as âThe number you have dialed is currently busyâ and ended with âThe number you have dialed cannot be reached temporarily.â
Sharon took a sip of wine, her gaze fixed on the scenery outside while a confident smile played at the corner of her lips.
Kevan called two more times but got the same results. Gripping his phone, he asked, âDo you really know where she went?â
He had been conned by some weird woman to go to the backyard for this exact reason. Not only was there no one in the backyard, but that woman had even pounced on him like some rabid dog, kissing him while having her arms wrapped all around him. It was so disgusting that his stomach was still churning.
But Sharonâ¦was unlikely to be the same as that woman.
If she wanted to make a deal with him, she would not lie. After all, she knew exactly what happened to people who lied to him.
âMore than that.â Sharon batted her eyelashes at him. âI even know who sheâs with.â
