Chapter 566 - 572: A Sign
Rebirth of a Farming Wife
Su Wenyue had no time to tighten her grip when the string of her bracelet inexplicably snapped, beads spilling to the floor and scattering around, causing an immediate jump in her heart and the sensation of an ominous premonition.
In the past, Su Wenyue might have thought she was overreacting, but experience had shown her that such feelings often came true, especially between Husband and Wife. When she had previously jumped off the cliff, Han Yu later mentioned feeling a sudden pang of pain in his heart, initially dismissing it as an illusion. Though such mystical connections sounded absurd, they sometimes existed, especially now that Han Yu was doing dangerous work outside. The breakage of the braceletâs beads seemed like a harbinger.
Although there hadnât been any bad news regarding Han Yu so far, there had been no word from him for several days. Previously, Su Wenyue always received messages from Han Yu reassuring her of his well-being, probably because he was aware of her worries. Even if he was very busy, he would still send a message, even if it was just the simple word âsafe.â
Now, several days had passed with no messages, and Su Wenyue didnât know whether it was because Han Yu was in a situation where communication was inconvenient or due to some other reason, or even if he had met with an accident.
Su Wenyueâs mind was in turmoil, but thanks to the mental preparation Han Yu had provided her, her worries did not completely overwhelm her, especially in front of their three Children. She maintained a smile on her face, masking any negative emotions.
Due to her previous accident, the three Children had become particularly sensitive, prone to worrying over the slightest things. Brother Xing was the most obvious in this regard; if she were away for a bit too long, he would surely search everywhere for her with his Younger Sister.
The Children didnât cling as much to Han Yu primarily because he was usually busy with matters outside, often away from home. It wasnât unusual for him to not return for several days, prompting the Children to occasionally ask âWhy hasnât daddy come home yet?â Unlike their Mother, who spent the majority of her time with them, they would definitely worry and fear if something truly happened to Han Yu.
While Su Wenyue generally didnât hide everyday matters from the Children, wanting them to grow up in such an environment, she didnât want to burden them with too much pressure beyond what they could handle. Anything more would be counterproductive.
âMother, why did your bracelet break? Sister Yu will pick them up for you,â Sister Yu said regretfully, seeing the attractive bracelet suddenly fall apart. She bent down eagerly to collect the beads, worried that Su Wenyue would be upset. Brother Chen also came forward to help, while Brother Xing stood still, giving Su Wenyue a concerned look, clearly noticing her momentary daze.
âBrother Xing, whatâs wrong? Why donât you help your younger brother and sister pick up the beads? Mother is waiting for you all to gather them up so we can restring the bracelet,â said Su Wenyue, not failing to notice Brother Xingâs worried gaze. However, unsure how to explain the situation to him, she deliberately overlooked these concerns and smiled warmly at Brother Xing.
Seeing his Mother behave this way, Brother Xing, though reluctant to express his worries, seemed to guess that his Mother was probably worried about Father due to the unexpected breakage of the braceletâa bad omen. Not wanting to upset his Mother, he followed her lead.
âMother, donât worry. Brother Xing will make sure that we pick up all of the beads from the bracelet. You have to be happy,â said Brother Xing obediently and affectionately. Su Wenyue wanted to say something in return, but Brother Xing had already begun to collect the beads.
The three Little guys picked earnestly, and soon, all the beads had been collected and handed to Su Wenyue. Watching their pleasing and considerate actions filled her with a sense of relief. She took the beads, asked for new stringing material, and the Mother and Children earnestly began rethreading the beads.
After strolling around the Garden for a while, Su Wenyue, seeing that it was about time, escorted the three Children back to their residence as it was their nap time.
The three Children were disciplined and punctual with their routines, never needing Su Wenyue to supervise them. After making sure they were settled in, Su Wenyue wanted to return early. Though her time with the Children had considerably eased her anxiety, she still couldnât help but think about the issue and wanted to go back and ask the secret guards to find out more.
Considering Su Wenyueâs safety, Han Yu had left a few secret guards with herânot only to protect her and the Children but also to assist her. Since Han Yu had decided to keep Su Wenyue close, she couldnât always be limited to managing the backyard. She would be involved to some extent in his affairs, especially during critical times. Through the secret guards, Su Wenyue could make arrangements that ensured her and her Childrenâs safety while supporting Han Yuâs actions.
âYou all rest well; Mother will head back first,â Su Wenyue told them briefly before setting off.
Brother Xing hesitated for a moment but eventually called out to Su Wenyue, âMother, even though the bracelet broke, we joined forces and quickly restrung it, and itâs as good as new and beautiful again. So Father will be alright. No matter what danger he may face, for the sake of Mother and us three siblings, Father will definitely come back safely. Donât worry.â
Su Wenyue hadnât expected Brother Xing to stop her just to say that. Until then, she had remained strong, but now her eyes teared up. She was fortunate in many lifetimes to have such a wonderful Husband and Children. With them, all hardships could be overcome.
âYouâre right, Brother Xing. Your Father will be fine and will definitely come back safely. I wonât worry now, and neither should you. Take good care of your younger brother and sister and donât think too much. Youâre still a Child, and these matters are not for you to worry about. Letâs all be happy and wait for your Father to return,â Su Wenyue said, no longer just to appease him, but with a genuine smile.
Seeing Su Wenyue like this, Brother Xing finally felt somewhat relieved. He used to worry about his parents not getting along well. Now, their strong affection was a concern too.
As for Han Yuâs safety, Brother Xing wasnât all that worried. His Father had always appeared towering and competent in his mind. With his Fatherâs strategies and abilities, he would surely turn peril into safety, even if faced with difficulties. Men must endure some dangers, and anyway, his Father had always been fine in his previous life. In This life, his Father was even more formidable, so surely, nothing would go wrong.
In Brother Xingâs own previous life, he had independently trained in the military camp and faced dangers and injuries on the Battlefield several times. In two instances, he nearly lost his life but ultimately survived.
In her heart, Su Wenyue bolstered her conviction that Han Yu would return safely. Once a person has a belief, they become much stronger, and her heart was no longer in turmoil.
