Chapter 519: 526: Fierce Struggle
Rebirth of a Farming Wife
Since it was arranged by Han Yu, though the Divine Doctor made many difficulties for Sikong Ling, in the end, Sikong Ling managed to solve them and spent a great deal of money to hire the Divine Doctor.
Han Yu wasnât being petty, trying to take revenge against Sikong Ling by doing this, but rather Sikong Ling was a man of deep thoughts and suspicion. If it had been too easy to invite the Divine Doctor over, he might have suspected there was a catch, making future plans more difficult to execute.
In fact, if possible, Han Yu didnât want other men to do anything for his wife at all. The more Sikong Ling did, the more it indicated his deepening affection for his wife, yet there was no other way.
Han Yu could feel deep-seated âmaliceâ from Sikong Ling, and knew that trying to leave with his wife would be fraught with difficulties. Keeping some cards close to his chest would make future plans smoother, especially using the status of the Divine Doctor â something even Sikong Ling had to be wary of, perhaps needing it for his own actions later on.
Su Wenyueâs condition was getting worse. Upon securing the Divine Doctor, Sikong Ling immediately brought him to Su Wenyueâs side to check her pulse.
âDivine Doctor Mu, how is my wifeâs condition? Is there a way to wake her up?â Han Yu asked with deep concern, particularly since he saw Divine Doctor Mu frowning, which worried him even more.
âYour wife is weak, but she has been cared for well these days, and there has been considerable improvement. The main problem causing her unconsciousness isnât with her body,â Divine Doctor Mu said after diagnosing her.
âIf itâs not the body, then where is the problem?â Han Yu, seeing Divine Doctor Muâs pause, quickly asked, while Sikong Ling also looked at Divine Doctor Mu intently, wanting to know the reason.
âDonât know if you have ever heard of the soul and spirit. This isnât entirely fantasy. A person has three souls and seven spirits sustaining life. This girl is troubled at heart. Although itâs not apparent in everyday life, once something happens, itâs easy for evil spirits to invade, causing the soul to leave the body, and even more so to be trapped in a dream unable to free herself. If she isnât awakened in time, itâll inevitably harm the body over a prolonged period, even exhausting her life force until she has no life left,â Divine Doctor Mu explained. After all, as a Divine Doctor, he knew much and was confident, unlike other doctors, without regard for the expressions of Sikong Ling or Han Yu, speaking forthrightly.
Because of all that had happened to his wife, Han Yu tended to believe what the Divine Doctor said; perhaps there really were elements of soul and spirit, and ghosts in this world. Sikong Ling, however, was skeptical, half-believing only because Divine Doctor Mu was a renowned healer, and considering Su Wenyueâs prolonged unconsciousness. As for the other mysterious concepts like the soul, he remained watchful, only interested in whatever means Divine Doctor Mu had to awaken her.
âAlthough the Divine Doctorâs opinion differs from other doctors, in the end, the meaning is the same, isnât it? We still must awaken Lady Yue,â Sikong Ling said.
âIndeed, this girlâs condition requires her soul to return to her body promptly and to leave the dream state,â Divine Doctor Mu nodded, confirming Sikong Lingâs words.
âI admire the breadth of knowledge and experience the Divine Doctor has, but do you have a way to awaken Lady Yue?â Sikong Ling asked with a respectful tone, which would continue depending on Divine Doctor Muâs skill. If he proved no different from other inept doctors, then Sikong Ling would have a chance to vent about the earlier frustrations.
âThe key to this girlâs awakening is not with me. I can assist in gathering her soul, but whether she can actually be awakened depends on her,â Divine Doctor Mu replied.
Sikong Ling was somewhat dismissive upon hearing the first part of Divine Doctor Muâs statement, expecting yet another doctor without the means to wake Su Wenyue, thinking the mystical talk was just for show. It wasnât until he heard the latter part that his expression improved, waiting to see Divine Doctor Muâs methods.
After finishing his explanation, Divine Doctor Mu looked at Han Yu, âSince sheâs your wife, surely you must be a person your wife cares about. When I use my method to gather her soul, you should try your hardest to call out to her, and talk about things she cares about in order to pull her out of her dream.â
Seeing Han Yu nod, Divine Doctor Mu took a set of silver needles from his medicine box and retrieved an object resembling an incense candle, yet slightly different, and then asked the servants to prepare some other items.
Once everything was ready, Divine Doctor Mu asked everyone to leave the room, leaving only Han Yu.
âI am going to apply needles to your wife, so strip off her excess clothing, leaving only her lingerie,â Divine Doctor Mu spoke and glanced at Han Yu, whose expressionless face showed no emotion, but still he added as an explanation.
âA doctor has a parental heart. Everyone is the same in my eyes. Your wife has been ill for quite a few days, and her condition is somewhat serious. Needle therapy is required to aid her, or it will not be effective.â
The Divine Doctor, though eccentric, held high medical ethics, always considering the patientsâ needs first. He had encountered similar situations before when saving people. If someone was more conservative, they would rather let their wife remain ill than allow him to treat her, all in the name of so-called chastity, which he found both ridiculous and frustrating. Coming back to the point, he figured no man would be indifferent to such matters, although wearing lingerie meant nothing would really be revealed.
âJust do what you need to do, Divine Doctor. I am not one of those conservative men, and I donât care about formalities. Whatever methods you use, as long as you can cure my wife, I wonât mind,â Han Yu stated immediately, valuing his wifeâs safety above anything else, especially since she would still be covered by her lingerie.
The Divine Doctor, satisfied with Han Yuâs words, nodded in approval. He was someone who understood priorities, and started his work right away. First, he lit the âincense candleâ and performed several actions, then placed the candle at the head of the bed. The room was soon filled with an odd fragrance, reminiscent of sandalwood, yet distinct.
With the Soul Gathering Incense burning, Divine Doctor Mu took up the set of silver needles, sterilized them, and began inserting them into various acupoints all over Su Wenyueâs body.
Su Wenyueâs brow furrowed and sweat beaded on her forehead, while pain and struggle registered on her face. Her dream was a memory of the past lifeâs most painful moments in Sikong Mansion.
âNo, no, my child, you vile woman, you wonât die a good death! â¦â Su Wenyue cradled her stomach in agony, feeling her life force ebbing away, and a sense of malice rose within her, so intense it nearly engulfed both her and her enemies, causing her to fall into a demonic abyss.
âHan Yu, hold down your wife. Donât let her thrash about, or she may hurt herself,â Divine Doctor Mu instructed as Su Wenyueâs body became filled with silver needles. On the final step, Divine Doctor Mu paused and spoke to Han Yu. Seeing Han Yu comply with his instructions, he then took the final needle, followed the same sterilizing steps, and inserted the silver needle into a certain area on Su Wenyueâs head. Previously unresponsive, Su Wenyue suddenly began struggling violently.
