Chapter 8: We're Friends

Today has been one of the most exhausting days ever. The school day felt like it went on forever! I thought to myself as the last bell rung.

"Finally." I mumbled to myself. Walking out of class I noticed that Kylie was walking my way. I really don't want to deal with her right now. Holding my books in my hand I quickly turned around but then I felt an unwelcomed hand on my shoulder turn me around. Now that I was facing Kylie I gave her an eye roll.

"What do you want?"

"All my things back." I forgot that she has let me borrow many clothes, crap!

"Fine, I guess you can come by later to pick them up but don't bring those." I said with a sigh looking behind her to her three little followers. They all gave me dirty looks as soon as their brains figured out I was talking about them.

"Fine." She said the a hair flip walking away. Who does she think she is? Walking home I saw Ash, Brock, Jared, Blake, Chad, and Hayden they were a little bit ahead of me just messing around with each other doing crazy brother stuff I guess. It was kind of cute seeing Ash laugh like that looking really happy. Walking into my house my mom was sitting on the couch with her phone to her ear. She was obviously crying, her mascara was all over her face.

"Hey mom." I said awkwardly setting down my books and my bag.

"Oh hi sweetie." wiping her face and hanging up the phone.

"What's wrong?"

"Um I just got off the phone with a lawyer about the divorce."

"Oh, already? That was fast." I knew they were going to get a divorce but not this fast. I was hoping that dad would come to his senses and come home to us.

"You're father called and said he is ready to talk to you." I felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head. I so mad with him! How could he just leave my mom and I like this! Was it my fault? I mean I did blow up on him and didn't come home to say goodbye before he left.

"I...I don't want to talk to him." I stuttered.

"I know you don't but he wants to explain somethings to you."

"There's nothing to explain mom! He left us for another women! He left his family!" I said grabbing some water and going upstairs. I felt my eyes water but I quickly blinked them away, I placed my water on my bedside table and crawled on my bed welcomed by all my blankets. I covered my self with the blankets grabbing my pillows to hug.

My life is going downhill every time I blinked. My dad left and so did Kylie! She left me as a friend! I can't believe she did that! We've been best friends for as long as I can remember. As for my dad, he makes me sick!

Moving the covers off of me I saw Ash's shirts, I really should give them back to him. Or maybe I should keep them, I mean they are good pj shirts right?

I heard a loud knock on the front door and ran downstairs to see who it was.

"I'll get it!" I screamed to my mom. I wouldn't want her to open the door to Ash. that would be awkward. Swinging the door open, there stood an annoyed Kylie. I totally forgot she was coming over. Let the awkwardness begin....yay.

"I'm here to get my things." She said with an attitude.

"Come in." I said with a sigh.

I walked upstairs with her following me. Going to my closet I picked out things that were Kylie's as quickly as I could placing them into a plastic bag.

"So this is it uh?" I asked out of curiosity.

"Yup." She said popping the 'p'.

There was an awkward silence for a second until I finally spoke up.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me, to us? We've been best friends for years and over the weekend you find new friends? You become a totally different person and ditch me like I'm a piece of shit or something?"

"It's high school Adrianna, If I ever want a social life, I need to stay away from you."

"Wow, I didn't know you were such a heartless bitch. Leave." I said handing her the plastic bag.

She rolled her eyes and walked out of my room, when I heard the door slam I knew she was gone.

"Uggghh." I let out a huge grunt.

"Someone's mad." I quickly turned my head facing the window. Ash was on the tree?

"What are you doing?" I asked almost laughing.

"Chillin, duh."

"You're gunna fall." I said walking towards my window.

"No, I'm not." He said standing up and walking towards me.

"Ash please sit back down you're going to fall!"

"Make me." He said with a smirk.

"Ash!" He finally got to my window and climbed inside.

"Wow your room is a disaster!"

"Thanks for pointing out the obvious." I said playfully rolling my eyes.

"Are those my shirts?" He said walking toward my bed.

"Uh.. um .. yeah I forgot to give them back to you, sorry."

"Its fine, I forgot I lent you them." Wow thanks, that makes me feel so much better. I sarcastically thought to myself.

"So you and that girl are finally done being friends?"

"Yeah, I think so. Call me the loner girl with no friends." I chuckled to myself.

"We're friends." His comment made me freeze for a moment. Did he just friend zone me?

"Yeah I guess we are." I said giving him a smile.

"So me and some people from school are going down to the beach tonight and having a bonfire, wanna come?"

"Um, yeah sure, sounds fun." I can't believe Ash just asked me to hang out with him and his friends!"

"Alright well I got to go to the store and pick up some hotdogs and stuff like that, I'll come over at eight and we can go together." He grabbed his shirts and went back out the window. Man I was hoping he wouldn't take them. They're comfy.

"Yeah, okay. See you at eight." I probably had the biggest smile on my face. I never get to do stuff like this so I'm really excited. The only problem is I'm going to be the youngest one there...

They're all juniors and seniors. Hopefully everything goes well. Things happen for a reason and I guess good things come when bad things happen. Looking down at my outfit I remembered I was in shorts and a tight t-shirt, I should be fine in this right? I guess we will find out. Taking out my side braid my hair was all wavy now. I flipped it around to create volume before reapplying my make-up.

It was now 7:30 p.m and was laying in my bed on my phone scrolling through vine. Until I got a text message from a random number.

From Unknown: Ready? c;

To Unknown: Ash?

From Unknown: duhh.

I rolled my eyes at his reply.

To Unknown: Yeah I'm ready.

I didn't get a reply but I knew he wanted me to come down when I saw his motorcycle from his window. I wonder how he got my number? I was going to say goodbye to my mom but when I noticed she wasn't home I figured she went to work. I grabbed a sweatshirt just in case it was going to get chilly and headed out the door.

"Hey." He said as I was walking towards him handing me a helmet.

"Hey." I said giving him a smile. I can't believe I'm actually going to be hanging out with him and his friends!

"So where are your brothers?"

"Oh they took the truck.. We all kind of share it."

"Six boys, one truck? That's hard to believe." I said giggling.

He started up his motorcycle and I put my hands around his waste loosely, He grabbed my hands to make me hold onto him tighter which gave me the goose bumps.

Driving through the city was like a dream. When you actually look around you can see all the city lights and the night sky, it was like everything was in fast motion. It was gorgeous. We finally stopped in a parking lot. Getting off the bike I saw the bon fire and heard some music playing, looking around there was a lot more people there then I expected. Everyone was laughing and were eating smores. I feel like this is just an upperclassmen party, should I even be here?

"Don't look so scared Adri."

"Adri?" I repeated him looking at him.

"Yup your names to long so I shortened it."

"No ones ever gave me a nickname before." I said smiling.

"Well now you have one." He said with a smirk. I put my sweater on over my head because it was a little chilly. Walking over to where everyone was I could hear that 5 Seconds of Summer was on the radio. Everyone seemed to be having an amazing relaxing time. Wow.

"Hey Ash. What's up Ash. How's it going Ash? Looking good Ash." Are a few of things I heard from girls walking by Ash as we walked to a blanket on the ground. He didn't seem to really noticed the girls, but I noticed them noticing him.

"Finally we have hotdogs now!" I guy said walking towards Ash and grabbing the plastic bag that Ash had.

"Who's this?" The guy said looking me up an down.

"Adrianna. But if I were you I wouldn't think about trying anything with her Cameron." The guy walked away and Ash and I sat on the blanket.

Looking around I knew that I wish I wasn't a loner. So this Is what social teenagers do. I can't believe I'm here with Ash, out of all people I'm here with my crush! I wish I was brave enough to tell him about the little crush I have.

"What are you thinking about?" Ash's voice dragged me out of my thoughts.

"Nothing, its just I never been to something like this. It's so cool."

"Glad you like it Adri." He said winking at me and I felt my cheeks getting red so I looked down.

"Want to go down by the water?" Once those words came out of his mouth I was so excited.

"Yes! Um I mean yeah sure." He shook his head laughing and got up. He helped me up as well, when his hand touched mine I instantly felt sparks.

We finally got to the water and I placed my feet in the water before the waves came.

"It's freezing!" And once the waves began to come I quickly ran towards the sand but as I was I felt cold water on my upper thigh.

"Ash!' I screamed splashing him back.

"Come on! It's not even cold!"

"Are you crazy? The water is freezing!" I said as he continued to splash my legs.

"Stop!" I said laughing.

"Or what?" He said stopping and coming towards me closing the space between us.

"Or..or .. I." He stepped away and began laughing as hard as he could.

"That's not fair Ash!"

"You're to easy!"

"Okay whatever!"

"So how'd you get my number?" I asked him out of curiosity.

"Oh um when you slept over at my house the other night and you went to change I took your phone and sent myself a text."

"But I have a passcode?"

"Yeah I know, You're not very good at hiding your phone when you type it in." He said winking at me and I smacked him on the shoulder.

"Ouch Adri! You really need to learn how to keep your hands to yourself." He smirked closing the gap in between us again.

"And if I don't?" I said playfully.

"HEY LOVE BIRDS! FOODS READY!" Cameron said yelling at us.

"Damn-it." I heard Ash whisper under his breath.

"Race ya?" I said taking off before he could answer. I felt arms grab around my waste and Ash falling on top of me. He was now on top of me with me facing him.

"Oops." Was all he could say. He quickly got up and ran to the food.

"Cheater!" I yelled at him.

Walking over to where Ash was, I found him already socializing with some girls.

"Oh Adrianna, this is Mackenzie and Abigail, They're really cool." Ash continued. Ash walked away to go talk with his friends while leaving me to mingle with new people.

I mingled a little bit with them and they were so funny and lets not forget gorgeous. Abigail had green eyes and light brown hair with dimples on her cheeks while Mackenzie had jet black hair with dark brown eyes and a nose pricing. We exchanged numbers and decided we would hang out again soon. It sucks that Mackenzie and Abigail are both seniors because that means they graduate soon.

"So are you and Ash a thing or something?" Abigail asked while I was drinking some water. I spit it out in the opposite direction and almost started to chock.

"Oh..um...uh.. no! Not at all!"

"Oh well it seems like it." Abigail added and Mackenzie nodding in agreement.

"It does?" I questioned.

"Yeah a lot! And I've never seen Ash like that with a girl ever. He is smitten that's for sure! He usually gets what he wants and then its off to the next girl." Mackenzie said smirking.

"No Ash and me are just friends."

"Friends with benefits?" Abigail said lifting her eyebrows up and down.

"Oh god no! Just friends." I said chuckling nervously.

"You'll get there little sophomore." Mackenzie said giggling. I turned my head and met with Ash's eyes and he gave me a huge smile which I had to return because it just made my heart explode.

The rest of the night everyone sat around the fire laughing and talking about the most randomness things, they even talked about the little disagreement between me and Kylie. Looking back that was pretty funny. I think every things finally clearing up for me. Hopefully.
