Grandparents (1.1)
Screw This
Jaxx leaves his room, steps wobbly and body lightly swaying. "Host, are you sure your ok enough to let them know you're still alive? I mean...you look like a gust of wind could knock you over."
Pouting he nods, "It's a little difficult to walk but I need food...well that and iron. Does this family even have any? Would we-"
"No need host! I can temporarily give you some iron since this is the fault of this system!" She smiles and hands him a small bottle and on the label is iron.
"Thanks...maybe it'll take away some of this lightheadedness..." Jaxx replies thinking out loud. Opening the package with a twist he pops out one of the small supplements. Putting one in his mouth he swallows and expects to gag from the lack of water. Yet, for some reason the usual disgust from swallowing iron doesn't happen, actually, it tastes good?
"Ah! I can answer that host!" Ji-Hye laughs seeing him startle.
"...I forgot you're also in my head," he playfully glares at her.
"Well since you now are a vampire doesn't it only make sense? You are lacking in something that your body needs and now that you gave it some it's loving it! Like, let's say you are a normal human and lack iron. Normally you hold a slight dislike to... let's say broccoli. You will start craving broccoli even though you don't like it because broccoli has iron. So...I guess simply put iron is like a food item and you'll crave it? Hmmm, despite being a system I suck at explaining things..." Ji-Hye looks down at the ground head hung low.
"No-no, you did a good job! It's more clear now," he smiles at her, "Thank you Ji-Hye."
"Of course! Anything for host!" She smiles still a little depressed but feeling better, "Now let's get to your family."
"Ah right, Grandma and Grandpa!" He smiles and the two of them continue chatting until they reach the door to the living room.
"It'll be alright host! They just miss you, go get 'em!" Ji-Hye lightly smacks his back making him stumble into the living room.
"Jaxx!" his grandmother shouts seeing him again. "You're out of your room!" She runs up to him engulfing him in a hug.
Feeling another pair of arms wrap around him he turns to his grandpa, "I'm glad. Denise wouldn't stop worrying about you. She even cried."
"Shut up old man, you've also been missing him! You wouldn't stop circling his room!" His grandma slaps his arm, all of them still hugging.
"Yeah, I've missed you grandma, grandpa..." All three of them relax into silence clinging to each other.
Slowly they start peeling away from each other and he could hear his grandma sniffling, "Don't do that again! If you're so worried about it then tell us! Stupid grandson!" She lightly smacks the back of his head.
"Yes grandma," he sweats seeing her glaring at him.
"Now now sweetheart, we all know he just panicked. I mean, a vampire?" His grandpa nods his head in understanding.
"You shut it," she glares at him then turns to Jaxx, "Don't worry Jaxx, not all stories of vampires are true...but..." She glances off in the distance looking guilty.
"Now, we just want you to be safe..." His grandpa continues for her, "We have no knowledge of how to get you what you need, we have no idea on how to help you grow as a vampire hybrid. And...well your bastard of a father offered to teach you."
"Father? I...I don't even know him, I mean...I knew he had to exist but...mom never talked about him..." he questions digging for answers.
"...He's not the nicest man. He won't treat you cruel but he...he isn't...he doesn't seem to hold much care for anything but himself. Most likely you'll be learning and cared for by the staff," his grandma continues, "You can always visit whenever you want. I-I just want to be sure you know, that you're always welcome here but...we want you healthy. We want you to be able to live life."
"Grandma..." Jaxx nods a little teary-eyed, "If you think it's best...I'll be sure to visit you often!"
"I know you will, you-you're just like your mother. Strong, you'll be fine, you'll make it. One of the butlers should be coming by soon...in a few days..."
"I see..." he looks down then back up, "Like you said! I'll be fine, so...don't worry about it! I'll grow big and strong!"
"Hahaha! I haven't heard you say that since you were, what like three. Look at you now...thirteen and leaving the nest already..." His grandpa laughs trailing off at the end.
"Jeez, grandpa, I said there is no reason to worry!" He pouts at him. The two look each other in the eyes and laugh.
"Jaxx, you've been stuck in your room for a long time...I'm sure you have some laundry to do..." His grandmother looks over him lingering on stains. "Don't want to leave with a ton of dirty clothes do you?"
"No, that wouldn't be good..." Jaxx finally sniffs himself and grimaces, "I think I need a shower first though."
"You got that right, go clean up you nasty," his grandpa nods and points to the bathroom.
Ears now pink he pouts, "I know where the bathroom is grandpa! I haven't been gone for that long..."
"Shut up boy, it sure felt like an eternity." His grandpa smiles seeing him get even redder.
Sorry if this is bad...I'm having writers block so...yaaaay....
