Chapter 93
A Crazy Night Novel
Chapter 93 What Is There For Her To Hide Christina looked like a little squirrel emerging from hibernation when chomping on the meat. Engrossed in watching her cat, Nathaniel felt his appetite improve as well.
âIs it nice?â
âYeah.â mumbled Christina. As her mouth was stuffed with food, she could not pronounce the words. clearly and sounded like a toddler speaking.
âIâll continue sending them to you tomorrow.â
Just when Christina was about to speak, someone suddenly pushed the door open. She quickly ended the call in surprise.
âDonât you know how to knock?â She was unhappy. After all, knocking before entering is an act of basic courtesy.
Caroline replied nonchalantly, âI forgot.â
In reality, she had done it on purpose.
What qualifications do an inexperienced designer who got transferred from Team A have to become Team Bâs leader? Rumors have it that she forced Yosef away to strive for the position of team leader. I will never respect someone like that.
Taking in Carolineâs flippant look, Christina could sense the disrespect coming from her.
If Caroline had genuinely forgotten, Christina would not blame her for anything. However, it was obvious that she had not.
She placed her fork down. âGo out, knock, and come in again.â
Carolineâs eyes widened in anger as a feeling of displeasure arose within her. Yet, there was a warning. look in Christinaâs eyes, cautioning Caroline from angering her further.
She gritted her teeth. Since her position was lower than Christinaâs, she had no choice but to submit.
Furiously, Caroline spun around and exited the room. After knocking on the door and receiving Christinaâs response, she entered again.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âThis is my draft for the departmentâs internal competition. Please submit it to the superiors.â Caroline passed a form and a few design drafts to Christina.
Radiant Corporation would host an internal competition annually. The winner would be promoted, and Caroline believed that this was her chance.
Once she came in first place, the first thing she would do was chase Christina out.
Whatâs so impressive about this woman? Didnât she get her position by selling off her good looks? Wait and see how Iâll drag you down.
Christina took the drafts. âOkay. You can leave now if thereâs nothing else.â
Despite the unpleasant look on her face, Caroline did not say anything and left.
After work, Nathaniel arranged for a car to send Christina to the Hadley residence.
Helen welcomed her. âAre you Ms. Ada?â
Christina wore a black outfit that she had prepared beforehand and put on a black cape that covered her entire body, which made her look like a night traveler.
With a mask on her face and a voice-changing device hiding in her clothes, her look was complete.
âYes.â
âThis way please, Ms. Ada.â
Not doubting her, Helen brought her in.
It was Christinaâs second time at the Hadley residence after getting married to Nathaniel. The house was just as it was in her memories. The atmosphere was solemn. A vase of flowers and some coffee were placed on the grey marble coffee table.
Julia was sipping on a cup of coffee while sitting on the couch.
When she saw Ada, she scrutinized her for a few moments before averting her gaze.
Whatâs there for her to hide? Weâve already guaranteed that we wonât take pictures of her or expose her identity. Why is she so reluctant to reveal her face?
âTake a seat. Would you like some coffee?â asked Julia tentatively.
âIâm fine. Thank you.â Christina could not eat or drink in front of them since she would have to take off her mask.
Julia did not make things difficult for her. âIâve arranged a room for you to rest in. You can start work.
tomorrow.â
Although she had hired Julia as a designer, she did not intend to overwork her.
âItâs fine, Mrs. Hadley. Itâs still early, so Iâd like to measure your waist and make a record of it first.â
Christina wanted to finish her task earlier and leave the Hadley residence as soon as possible.
Although she had already done all the preparations, unexpected events might still occur.
She would rather complete her task quickly than be in constant anxiety.
Placing her cup down, Julia walked to the second floor elegantly without a second word.
Gazing at Juliaâs back, Christina could not help but marvel at how elegant women could retain their air of arrogance even at an old age.
They would make others nervous because of their status.
âThis way please, Ms. Ada.â Helen led the way and brought her up the stairs to a guest room.
The decorations inside had been cleared out completely. The room, which was over a hundred square meters, was furnished with a sewing machine, a table, and all sorts of tools. They were all of superior quality.
Christina took out a measuring tape and a notebook from her bag.
âPlease raise your arms, Mrs. Hadley. Iâll take your measurements.â
âOkay,â replied Julia as she raised her arms.
Christina moved closer to her. Since it was her first time being so close to Julia, she could not help but feel nervous.
From a close distance, she could smell Juliaâs faint jasmine fragrance. Looks like Nathaniel was right. Mrs. Hadley really likes it.
She pulled out the measuring tape carefully and recorded the measurements.
Looking down, Julia observed the woman in front of her. Sheâs so securely covered up. In fact, sheâs even wearing black gloves over her hands. Is she ugly? Or does she have any hidden diseases?
âIâm done taking your measurements, Mrs. Hadley. You can rest now.â Christina kept the measuring tape.
Gazing at her, who was completely covered in black, Julia mumbled a curt response and walked out.
Christina heaved a sigh of relief after the door was shut.
After confirming the measurements, she did not stay idle either. She chose the fabric and started sketching.
The most important process of making such gowns was the embellishment in the latter half. By midnight, the foundation of the outfit was complete.
Only then did Christina finally stop working. She returned to the lounge on the first floor to bathe and rest.
At that moment, a black Maybach drove through the gates of the Hadley residence.
Helen was surprised and delighted upon recognizing that it was Nathanielâs car.
Ever since he got into a conflict with Julia over Christina, he had not visited in a long time.
Helen informed Julia about Nathanielâs arrival happily Although Julia was pleased to hear that, she felt suspicious as well.
Why would Nathaniel look for me at such a time?
When she walked out of the living room, she saw a lot of nutritional products placed on the coffee table.
Julia walked over and sat on the couch. âYou couldâve just come without all these gifts. I have everything here.â
âYou can never have too much. Take care of your health.â Nathaniel cast his gaze around the house but did not spot Christina anywhere.
Julia could barely believe her ears when she heard Nathanielâs words of concern. âWhy did you come here at such an hour? You canât be so useless that you got chased out by that woman, right?â
Nathaniel could never understand why his mother always took issue with Christina.
âChristina is very gentle. Sheâll never do something like that.â Christina would always be waiting for him at home. Yet, now that she had to work overnight here, his heart ached for her.
Feeling a wave of anger rushing over her, Julia chased him out in annoyance. âHmph! If youâre here to show off your wife, you can go back now.â
Nathaniel did not wish to visit either. Every time he came, his mother would always throw shade at him.
âIâm inspecting a project nearby tomorrow, so Iâm staying here for the night.â
Julia was stunned for a while. âDo whatever you want.
With that, she went upstairs.
Helen smiled. âMr. Hadley, donât take it personally with Mrs. Hadley. She was over the moon when she heard that you were coming back. Iâll prepare the room for you now.â
âSure, Helen.â
