Chapter 755 Surprise
A Crazy Night Novel
Dmmit! Why is it Victoria again? What an unlucky day! I canât believe I have to deal with the same nuisance twice in a row!
Melanie glared at Victoria.
Seeing Melanie standing perfectly still like a log. Victoria shoved the formerâs shoulder and snapped, âIâm asking you a question.
Are you deaf?â
Furiously, Melanie brushed the spot on her shoulder where Victoria just touched and glared at the latter with disdain. âYou donât own this restaurant, so what right do you have to obstruct me from demanding compensation, huh? Donât you think you should mind your own business, Ms. Lesley?â
In response, Victoria stuffed a bank card into the managerâs suit pocket. âIâm buying this restaurant.â
Melanieâs eyes almost popped out of their sockets as she opened her mouth in shock. Humiliated and exasperated, she exclaimed, âYouâre insane! Do you think just because youâre rich that-
Without warning, Victoria gave Melanie a hard and ruthless slap across the face, which startled everyone.
Shaking her painful hand, she produced a few large banknotes from her wallet and hurled them at Melanieâs face haughtily. âThis is the compensation for your injury and the restaurantâs failure to notify the cancellation of your booking. Also, you should use the money to get a doctor to tighten the loose screw in your head. You should know who you shouldnât offend and what you shouldnât say.â
Melanie was livid, for she had never been humiliated to that extent before. âYouâre such a bully, Victoria! Iâm going to beat you up!â
In response, Victoria rolled up her sleeve. âBring it on, then! Today, Iâll pummel you until you kneel before me and admit defeat!â
She couldnât care less about her image when she finally had the chance to take revenge on Melanie for destroying her masterpiece.
âDonât act rashly, Victoria.â Christina and Hera held Victoria back while the restaurant manager and employees blocked Melanieâs path.
The scene became noisy and chaotic as everyone tried to calm the two angry women down.
âShe was asking for a beating, Christina!â Victoria gritted her teeth. âIf I donât teach her a lesson today, sheâll piss on our heads one day!â
âYou were the one who was being unreasonable, Victoria! You donât have the right to slander me!â Melanieâs eyes turned bloodshot out of anger as she looked at Christina and said mockingly, âDonât you know? You treated your beloved junior sincerely, yet she helped your nemesis, Emilia, escape behind your back.â
Taken aback, Christina glanced at Victoria. The latter panicked and averted her line of sight before glowering at Melanie. âIâm going to tear your face into pieces if you continue spouting nonsense!â
Breaking free from the employeesâ grasp, Melanie tidied her shirt and sneered, âIâm not. Sheâll know itâs true once she investigates the matter. Iâll consider myself unlucky and let the matter slide today, but I wonât let you off that easily next time!â
She left after shooting Victoria one last glare Bewildered, the restaurant manager held Victoriaâs bank card and asked, âAre you still buying the restaurant, Ms. Lesley?â
Silently, Christina returned to her seat. Victoria couldnât be bothered to deal with the manager and simply said, âYes. Just swipe the card, and donât bother me.â
Hera was puzzled, for she didnât know who Emilia was or what was the story behind it all.
Christina perused the menu expressionlessly in her seat. âIâm hungry. Letâs order some food.â
Victoria wanted to say something but decided against it in the end. Just like that, the three women finished the meal with their minds occupied by each of their own thoughts.
Hera could sense something was going on between Victoria and Christina. As an outsider, she didnât feel it was appropriate to stick her nose into their affair. Hence, she came up with an excuse and left after dinner.
Afterward, Victoria drove Christina back to Scenic Garden Manor. On the way back, Christina didnât ask Victoria any questions, which made the latter on edge. Finally, when the vehicle pulled into the courtyard of Scenic Garden Manor, she couldnât hold it in any longer.
âDonât you have anything you want to ask me, Christina?â asked Victoria as she locked the car and faced Christina.
Christina raised her eyes. âI do, but Iâm waiting for you to tell me about it.â I thought about it for a long while. While I hesitated whether to believe Melanieâs words, Victoriaâs behavior just now told me everything I needed to know.
âMelanie was telling the truth. Emilia met me some time ago. She demanded I create a fake identity for her and send her overseas safely. She had dirt on me. Lewd pictures of me with someone else at a gathering back when I was studying overseas.â
A sigh escaped Victoriaâs lips. âIf I had rejected her request, she wouldâve posted the pictures online. I wasnât afraid of it happening, but back then, my relationship with Sebastian had just stabilized. I... was afraid heâd look at me differently if he saw those photos.â
Her eyes reddened as she spoke while choking back tears. âI know I shouldnât have done that or hid the truth from you, but I had no other choice, Christina. I canât lose Sebastian.â
Humans had a selfish nature. No matter how strong the bond between Christina and Victoria was, the latter still couldnât sacrifice her happiness for Christinaâs sake.
Coldly, Christina questioned, âIf Melanie didnât bring up this matter, were you planning to hide it from me for the rest of your life!â
Victoria nodded before quickly shaking her head. âIâm sorry, Christina. I didnât want to.â
Christina remained completely silent as Victoriaâs sorrowful sobs echoed in the car. A while later, Christina said, âWhat else did Emilia ask you to do?â
Victoria blinked guiltily, pursing her lips as she hesitated to speak the truth.
Christina pushed the car door and demanded. âUnlock the door!â
Panicking, Victoria seized her seniorâs arm. Tll tell you Christina! Donât get angry Glaring at Victoria, Christina warned, âIf you lie to me again, our friendship ends here /? my further Iv Paling Victoria wred Emilia already knows that Winston possesses the evidence from yours ago.
âHow dare you disclose that information to Emilia!â Christinaâs chest ached from anger as she panted heavily.
Pain was also radiating from her abdomen.
Victoria submissively accepted Christinaâs admonishment. âI donât know what method she used to obtain it. By the time I learned of the news, she already had it.â
Christinaâs voice trembled. âEven then, you didnât reveal the matter to me. You even created a fake identity for her and sent her out of the country to lie low!â
Victoria nodded and repeated, âIâm sorry..
Wearily, Christina closed her eyes. When she opened them again, a frosty look was swirling within. âIâm so disappointed in you, Victoria.â
Victoria clenched her fists. âIâm sorry, Christina!â
Sighing, Christina waved her hand. âForget about it. I donât blame you. After all, weâre just friends. You donât need to sacrifice your happiness for my sake.â
âYour choice isnât incorrect, Victoria,â she stated softly. âUnlock the door.â
While Victoria wished to explain further, Christinaâs cold attitude made her feel ashamed. Hastily, she unlocked the door and watched Christina leave with teary eyes.
In a daze, Christina entered the mansion. Suddenly, Raymond rushed toward her with a grim expression. âMr. Hadley is injured, Mrs. Hadley. Heâs resting upstairs. You should go and take a look.â
