Chapter 718 Mine
A Crazy Night Novel
If I can secure the support of the Stone family, my chances of winning this game will greatly increase. Without Anya holding me back, the Gibson family will be mine and mine alone!
Azure might be old, but Barnaby was a sentimental person. Clearly, they still had feelings for each other.
Yerek still believed that the reason Barnaby didnât allow him and Nigel to return to the Stone family wasnât due to Sheridanâs intimidation, but because Azure hadnât put forth her best efforts to make it happen.
âI-Iâve tried everything, but Barnaby refused to say yes. Barnaby simply wonât give his consent. Iâm at a loss for what to do. I canât bring myself to cause a scene at his house, as that would only bring disgrace upon us.â Azure sounded helpless.
Azureâs pride and sense of propriety prevented her from taking such drastic measures.
Yerek sneered, âPride means nothing when compared to wealth and power. Once I regain control of Gibson Corporation, Iâll make sure those who have belittled and mistreated us come to us and beg for our forgiveness!â
Hearing that, Azure was moved.
In her recent time of despair, she had felt the weight of everyoneâs disdain upon her, particularly from her once closest friends, who mocked and ridiculed her. It was a source of immense anguish.
As a result, she became reclusive, seldom venturing outside her home. If someone hadnât informed her about Anyaâs demise, she would never have made her way to Jadeborough!
Sensing her hesitation, Yerek softened his voice. âGrandma, Iâve asked around. After Old Mr. Stoneâs wife passed away, he never remarried. It seems he couldnât forget his first love.â
Azureâs eyes widened with a mixture of shock and barely contained excitement.
Her voice trembled as she struggled to form a coherent sentence. âI-Is it really true?â she asked, her eyes welling up with tears.
Yerek replied solemnly, âI canât guarantee it, but why donât you have a conversation with Old Mr. Stone directly? Grandma, remember, heâs just a vulnerable human being. If you show him the extent of your suffering, he might feel compelled to help you, especially if he still harbors feelings for you.â
He had made up his mind.
Barnaby is distancing himself from us as he is prioritizing the pride of the Stone family over our well-being. I wonât let him enjoy all the benefits while we suffer. Even if he threatens me, I will do everything in my power to involve the Stone family in this mess!
Azure still couldnât bring herself to do it. âYerek, why donât you let me think over this? Iâll give you an answer later.â
Yerek arched a brow in delight. After his carrot and stick approach, she was finally showing signs of caving in.
âOkay, take your time. I have work to attend to as well, so I wonât interrupt your rest. Iâll visit you when I have some free time.â
Azure replied cheerfully, âSure. Take care of your health, for youâre my only surviving grandchild.â
The moment Yerek turned to leave, the gentle smile on his lips disappeared.
His gaze was fixated on the floor buttons in the elevator. Upon noting the one indicating the VIP wards, he pressed it.
The elevator headed upstairs and stopped on the floor housing the VIP wards.
Yerck stepped out of the elevator and fixed his gaze on the ward at the very end of the corridor.
There were two burly bodyguards guarding the door. As they chatted softly, they sensed a stranger approaching. They looked up to see Yerek steadily making his way toward them.
âSir, is there anything you need?â One of the bodyguards extended his hand, preventing Yerek from advancing any further. âThis is a VIP ward.â
Yerck said calmly. âThe patient is my uncle, Timothy Gibson. I happened to be nearby and thought of paying him a visit.â
The bodyguard remained firm. âIâm sorry, but we didnât receive any visitor list. Iâm afraid you cannot enter.â
Hearing that, Yerek deliberately put on an enlightened expression. âIs that so? What a pity. Iâll visit another day, then.â
He cast a dark look at the door before turning to leave.
After watching Yerek enter the elevator, the bodyguards immediately informed Christina about his arrival:
Christina found his attempt to visit ridiculous.
Considering his past actions and his unfulfilled goals, she couldnât help but wonder if he was resorting to the same trick to harm Timothy once again.
She ordered, âWithout my consent, no one is to enter the ward to visit my father.â
Rayne, who had been waiting nearby, noticed Christinaâs somber expression and approached her with concern. âChristina, whatâs wrong? What happened?
Christina quickly tamped her emotions and flashed a smile. âNothing. Letâs continue.â
Since Christina seemed reluctant to share, Rayne respected her privacy and decided not to press further. Instead, they took a stroll in the studio, where renovation was near completion.
Christina was pleased with the progress. Before leaving, she told Rayne about Victoria joining their studio.
She didnât expect Rayne to ask, âAre both brands entering a collaboration?â
âThatâs not it. It concerns Victoriaâs privacy, and it wouldnât be appropriate for me to disclose it. Nevertheless, Iâm optimistic about the positive impact her presence will bring to our studio. With her popularity, we can expect great improvements in the future.â
âIâll share the news and prepare her a welcome party,â Rayne said eagerly. She couldnât wait to meet Victoria in person.
âThank you. Iâll prepare the guest list for the opening day and send it to you later,â Christina told her.
âDrive safe!â Rayne responded gaily.
Before returning to Scenic Garden Manor, Christina dropped by the hospital.
âMr. Gibson should be regaining consciousness these few days. His vital signs are stable, and his overall physical condition is promising,â the doctor informed with a serious tone. âIf he receives adequate rest and actively participates in rehabilitation training, there is a high probability of his leg making a full recovery.
Christina was delighted to hear that. âOh, this is great!
Her efforts had not been in vain.
âI wonât keep you from your work. Iâll go in and visit him.â Christina whirled around and ran into the ward.
Timothyâs unconscious state had caused him to lose a considerable amount of weight. However, his complexion appeared relatively healthy, indicating that he had been well taken care of during his time in the hospital.
Christina felt mixed emotions overwhelming her as she stared at her fatherâs unconscious form in bed.
âIn your absence, I made the decision to relocate Gibson Corporation to Jadeborough. I understand that you may not approve of this choice, and I respect your decision either way. Additionally, I wanted to inform you that I have severed all ties with Azure on your behalf. However, I wonât interfere if you choose to continue supporting her,â Christina said softly, her words resonating within the stillness of the ward.
Her eyes widened as she spotted Timothyâs fingers twitching ever so slightly.
A glimmer of realization filled her, and she held her breath, pinning her unwavering gaze on Timothy, not daring to blink.
Timothyâs fingers twitched yet again.
âLyle, hurry! Get the doctor!â
