Chapter 630 Lucky Time
A Crazy Night Novel
If Anya had not abruptly gone to the restaurant to stir trouble with Christina, Christina would not have sent men to find out Anyaâs recent whereabouts. She would not have had the chance to find out the secret connection between Winston and Warren.
After Winston gave up on Raveworks Enterprise, he told David to open up a new company, and Warren was one of the shareholders.
Christina would not say that she was too paranoid. After a few rounds of investigations, she found out that those who had connections with Winston seemed to all have a hand in her parentsâ accident.
Sebastian said, âIâve already sent Mr. Hadley the news. Mr. Hadley has always assigned men to keep an eye on Winston. Itâs been some time since he started doing that, so Iâm sure he has plenty of information to share as well.â
Christina desperately wished that she could rush back to Jadeborough immediately.
The case had stagnated for years, and now, the clues were going somewhere. Finally, she had a chance to clear the grievances of her parents, who had to go through those suffering times.
âBook tickets back to Jadeborough tonight, but donât let Mr. Hadley know about this.â Nathaniel was always the one who gave Christina surprises, so Christina wanted to do the same for him this time.
Sebastian was infected by Christinaâs joyous mood. It had been a long time since he met Victoria. Even though the two of them often made video calls, he was too busy, and Victoria was always the one who initiated contact.
âOf course, Mrs. Hadley Christina could hear the joy in Sebastianâs voice. When she looked over at him, she noticed that a flower shopâs e-commerce platform was showing on his phone screen. He was scrolling continuously, seemingly unsure which flower to get.
Leaning over, Christina said with a half-smile, âVictoria likes daisies, but of course, as long as itâs from you, sheâll be happy even if you end up picking flowers from the side of the road.â
âI just want to order takeout; I accidentally clicked into this,â Sebastian hastily muttered as he sheepishly put down his phone.
However, the tinge of red on the tip of his ears betrayed his true intentions.
âOh, I see. Well, it looks like Victoria wonât get to be happy. She would love to have her crush get her different kinds of flowers every day.â
Christina did not expose Sebastian, knowing when to stop pushing. Otherwise, Sebastian might be frightened off, and Victoria would have to be as anxious as her.
What Sebastian did not know was how Victoria was clingier in a romantic relationship. Worried that Sebastian would find her annoying, she started talking to Christina instead, pestering Christina to tell her about Sebastianâs daily schedule, as well as what he ate and who he met.
After work every day, not only did Christina video-call Nathaniel and her children at night, but she was also messing with Victoria.
She managed to drive Victoria mad every time, making the latter wish she could come over to meet Sebastian in person instead.
At night, Christina invited Timothy to dinner-a farewell meal before leaving Hallsbay.
âI hear that the people in the company are satisfied with you. Gibson Corporationâs return to the right track is something worth celebrating.â
Timothyâs physiotherapy had been working well. He had shed his usual dispirited demeanor. The peaceful, life after the division of the Gibson family had brought a touch of joy to his face.
âIâm not particularly good at managing a company. Itâs all thanks to Nathaniel lending me his assistantâs assistance. As of now, most of the major projects Gibson Corporation has been from Hadley Corporation.â
Christina was not trying to put in a good word for Nathaniel. She just wanted the people around her to know that she had a blissful marriage and that Nathaniel was the only man she would ever want.
Nothing would separate them.
âWhat happened back then.... Timothy paused and put down his fork. âThe Hadleys were victims too. I was fooled by others and could not think for myself. I nearly destroyed your marriage. Iâm really sorry about that, Christina.â
Christina let out a quiet sigh. âItâs not completely your fault. Nathaniel and I donât blame you for this.â
Despite her words, Timothy was not all that happy. He turned even solemn as he said, âI know Nathaniel loves you, but you might have trouble explaining this to your parents-in-law. Iâll come over another day, and if they need it, Iâll apologize to them.â
Christina could sense Timothy changing day by day. His concern for her and the things he did for her was earnest.
âFather, theyâre nice to me. I donât need to lie to you about this,â Christina said. âOnce youâve recovered more, Iâll relocate you to Jadeborough. Lucas and Camila are eager to meet their granddad.â
Warm tears welled up in Timothyâs eyes, and in his thrill, he cried out, âOf course! Of course!â
When he thought about what Azure did to the two children, a wave of remorse crashed into him, for hi had condoned her actions back then.
Nervous, he could barely grip his glass. âI... donât think Lucas and Camila like me. I wasnât nice to them at all.â
Christina smiled. âTheyâre still young, so they canât tell too well wrong from right, but they know whether or not people treat them nice or not. Those things are history. Theyâve long forgotten about them.â
The truth was, Lucas and Camila were smart children, but Christina wanted Timothy to let go of the grim past, so she lied to him.
After all, the only person the children truly hated was Azure.
Timothy had been absent that day, so the childrenâs impression of him was that he was apathetic.
âWhat do Lucas and Camila like? Iâm going to get someone to prepare gifts for them,â Timothy said. His eyes were bright as he could not contain his joy.
âWhat they love most is eat and play,â Christina uttered.
Timothy started forming a plan in his head.
Without Azure and Nigelâs family disrupting them, the meal was a merry one.
As Christina had to go for the night flight at ten, Timothy did not suggest that she stay.
When Christina came out of the mansion, she saw Sebastian using his phone torch to search the inside of the car hood.
She walked over and asked, âMr. Taggart, is there something wrong with the car?â
Sebastian replied apologetically, âSorry, Mrs. Hadley, there are some issues with the car. Itâs functional, but I donât want to take any risks with your current condition, so Iâve made arrangements for another car to be sent here. Iâll get someone to send this car to the workshop for a closer inspection later.â
Timothy then said, âWeâre quite far from the airport. Why donât I get the driver to send you there instead? I donât want you to miss your flight. Just leave, the car here for now. Iâll have someone drive it to the workshop.
It was only a little over an hour left before the plane took off, so Christina nodded. âThank you, Father.â
Timothy wryly answered, âItâs nothing. You donât need to be so courteous with me.â
Christina still refused to call him âDad, and that was what marked his failure as her father.
After that, the three of them got into the car Timothy arranged for them and headed to the plane.
In the middle of their boarding, Sebastian received a call. Walking over to Christina, he solemnly said, âMrs. Hadley, ten minutes ago, Mr. Gibson sent his men to take our car to the workshop for servicing, but they ended up getting into a serious accident.
The driver involved died at the scene.â
It was then Christina realized she was so close to having been involved in the tragedy. She was only spared from it because of the impromptu change of cars.
âWas it an accident, or was this staged?â
