Chapter 628 Stir Up Trouble
A Crazy Night Novel
Anya was clearly there to stir up trouble.
Sebastian walked away from Durkasâ secretary and toward Christina. He wanted to chase Anya away.
However, Christina waved her hand, signaling Sebastian to step aside. She was in control of the situation.
âAnya, the Gibson family has split, so you donât need to concern yourself with my affairs. It would be better for you to handle your own family troubles first,â Christina said coldly.
Sensing the tension in the air, Durkas glanced at Christina and said, âSince this is Ms. Steeleâs family matter, I will take my leave first. We can discuss the project issues in detail next time. Goodbye.â
Frustrated by her failed attempt to sow discord, Anya anxiously blocked Durkasâ path. âChristina is a despicable woman. Arenât you concerned about suffering substantial losses if you work with a vicious person like her? She disregards her own family, let alone the lives of others.â
However, Durkas only believed in what he witnessed and heard. He admired Christinaâs exceptional talents and self-confidence.
In contrast, he disliked those who dared to question his judgment as it was tantamount to questioning his abilities.
âI donât like others to meddle in my affairs. Get lost!â he bellowed.
Anya snapped back. âIâm only looking out for your interest. Since you refuse to listen, youâll regret it later!â
Undeterred by her threats, Durkas bypassed Anya and walked away.
Christina looked at Anya mockingly.
Durkas was a client personally introduced by Nathaniel, and their bond was undeniably strong. Even disregarding Nathanielâs influence, Durkas could discern the truth.
At present, Durkas was inclined to choose Gibson Corporation, and he wasnât inclined to turn his back on them based solely on Anyaâs biased words. Furthermore, his upbringing forbade him from behaving in such a rude manner.
After sizing Anya up, Christina sneered, âIt appears youâre leading quite a comfortable life. By the way, has your motherâs gambling debt been settled? Iâve also heard rumors of your fatherâs involvement with the police, and your brother seems to be facing some difficulties as well. Does the Stone family only acknowledge you and not them?â
Anya, reluctant to delve into the subject, displayed clear signs of embarrassment. Christina possessed a sharp acumen for inflicting emotional anguish.
âThis is my family matter. What does it have to do with you?â Anya glared at her.
âAh, so now you understand this principle. Then why do you feel the need to meddle in my affairs?â Christina leaned in toward Anya and gave her a contemptuous look. Next, she turned her attention to an elderly man approaching them. âYour sugar daddy is waiting for you.â
Anya abruptly turned her head to look, a flicker of panic crossing her eyes.
âAnya, your taste and judgment are truly deteriorating. Well, I suppose your circumstances limit your choices. Although that person is rather old, he can at least fulfill your needs, right?â
With that, Christina walked away, leaving Anna fuming in place.
âChristina Steele, go to hell!â Anya shed her delicate and dependent facade. Her fierce and resonant voice seized the attention of onlookers in the vicinity.
âAnya, what are you doing?â The elderly man was taken aback to see the woman losing her composure. It appeared that Anyaâs usual docile behavior was nothing but a pretense.
When Anya heard his voice, she immediately clung to the manâs arm and acted vulnerable. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded, âMr. Yackley, that woman humiliated me! I was so angry that I just yelled at her. Iâm sorry for embarrassing you.â
Her pitiful appearance tugged at Warrenâs heartstrings. She was obedient, well-behaved, and considerate. Anya belonged to him, and if anyone dared to mistreat her, it would be a direct assault on his pride.
âDonât cry. Iâll seek justice for you. No one can mistreat you.â
Even though Anya was secretly delighted, she put on a worried expression. âPerhaps itâs best to let it go. That woman has quite a formidable background, and I donât wish to burden you. Itâs merely some harsh words, and Iâll get over it in a couple of days.â
However, Warren assumed a commanding posture and boasted, âNo one in Hallsbay dares to defy me. I donât care if she has strong backing. Iâve made it clear that as long as youâre my woman, I wonât allow anyone to mistreat you.â
He firmly wrapped his arm around Anyaâs waist, his hands restlessly exploring her body. Even though she felt queasy, she still forced a submissive smile.
âThank you, Mr. Yackley. I truly appreciate itâ
Having displayed his dominance, he proceeded to whisper provocative remarks into her ear, causing her to blush shyly.
âLetâs return to our room first. Itâs not convenient here.â
Christina had been residing in a hotel during her time in Hallsbay.
During their journey back to the hotel, she sincerely apologized to Durkas, who graciously accepted her apology. Fortunately, he mentioned that he had an upcoming business trip to Jadeborough next month and suggested they meet there.
Christina set her phone down and turned to look at the bustling scene outside the car window. Suddenly, an idea struck her.
âMr. Taggart, can you check where Anya has been recently?â Her lips curved into a slight smile as she continued, âMacy is in a difficult position. I believe she still misses her daughter. Why donât I be compassionate and arrange for them to meet?
Considering Anya is now living a good life, she might be able to help solve her motherâs problems.â
Macy Specker was Anyaâs motherâs true name.
âWhen do you think would be the most suitable time to arrange a meeting for them?â Sebastian asked.
Christina gently touched her abdomen and chuckled. âThe sooner, the better. Ideally, right now.â
Sebastian nodded in acknowledgment. âIâll make the arrangements.â
Within half an hour, Macy received a message that Anya was at Wilton Hotel. To avoid creditorsâ pursuit, she had taken precautions and discreetly made her way to the floor where Anya was located.
Macyâs gaze darted between her phone and the door number to confirm that she had found the right room. She pressed the doorbell hesitantly and waited anxiously for a response.
She waited for a long time, but there was no response from inside.
Was I lied to?
Just as she was about to give up and leave, the door finally swung open.
There stood Anya, wrapped in a bath towel, their eyes meeting in an instant. Traces of intimacy marked her pristine, slender neck.
âAnya, you...â Macyâs words were abruptly cut off by a deep husky voice from inside.
âAnya, whoâs there?â
Both women froze instantly. Anya hastily attempted to shut the door, but Macy, who was fueled by anger, forcefully pushed her way in, leaving the door wide open.
Anya didnât expect her mother to possess such strength. In a momentary lapse, she allowed Macy to storm into the room.
Macyâs eyes widened in shock as she saw an old man seated on the sofa. The disarray within the room only served to confirm her suspicions.
âHow dare you, Anya Gibson!â
