Chapter 600 Mother And Son
A Crazy Night Novel
Azure was well aware of the predicament the Gibson family was in and thought Yerek did a good job of managing to amass five million. At any rate, it was a better effort than those in their family who only sat back and watched the drama unfold.
Out of love and concern, she asked, âHow did you manage to put together that much money. Yerek?â
âI sold a condominium and a car under my name,â Yerek responded calmly. âA friend gave me a good price for them.â
Azure was astonished. âHow could you do that? Thatâs the only property under your name! And a coming- of-age gift from your father, no less.â
Yerck brushed it off. âThose are all material things. Anya is my sister. I canât sit back and watch something happen to her.â
Yerekâs camaraderie stood in sharp contrast with Christinaâs indifference. At the reminder of the latterâs. attitude. Azure scoffed.
âThough you are adopted, Yerek, youâre a much more decent person. Your father and I were wrong to have thought that Christina was capable of taking the helm, and we have forsaken. you. You wouldnât hold it against us, would you?â
Yerekâs lips curled into a smirk. Aware of what Azure liked to hear, he chose his following words carefully.
âI canât even begin to thank you and Dad for raising me, Grandma. How could I hold it against you? Besides, these things never belonged to me. Theyâre not mine to take. Besides. Christina may have her own reasons. I think you should sit down and talk to her about it. Sheâs not unreasonable, you know.â
âHmph! Donât try to defend her. She no longer gives a dâmn about the Gibson family. Worse still, sheâs trying to turn us against one another.â
Earlier, Azure was even considering calling Christina and demanding payment but at Yerekâs provocation, she decided against it.
âIâll come up with something else, Grandma. We can talk about everything else later.â
âAll right. Iâll await your good news.ââ
After hanging up, Azure flung her phone onto the couch. Then, she exited her room and knocked on the door adjacent to hers.
âOpen up, Timothy. I have something to talk to you about.â
Several minutes later, Timothy opened the door in his wheelchair. He was damp and wrapped in a bathrobe.
âWhat do you need to talk about at this hour, Mom?â
Azure entered the room and locked the door behind her. After sizing Timothy up, she ventured into the room only to be greeted by the sight of boxes of takeout on the coffee table.
She chided, âYerek and I have been worried sick over putting together the ransom, Timothy, and here you are having supper and preparing for bed!â
Timothy had not expected his mother, who usually turned in early, to drop by, so he had not had the Having just completed his physiotherapy, he was drenched in sweat. Due to his slight mysophobia, he had to take a shower.
âIâm worried about Anya too, Mom, but whoâs going to rescue her if we end up falling sick because of not getting enough rest?
Besides, Iâm in no shape to help out much, seeing as my mobility is limited.â
Azure lost her temper and didnât bother to choose her words as she snapped, âYouâre not worried because Anya isnât your daughter, is that it? Nigel has been running the company for you over the years, and you wonât even show gratitude.â
Timothy clenched his fists but loosened them immediately. He turned his wheelchair around to the desk. and produced a card from his wallet. âThereâs two million in here. Itâs all my savings. Take it.â
Azure gave a mirthless laugh. She did not bother to conceal her disdain in her gaze and tone. âWhat good does two million do?
Yerek has managed to collect more than you! He even sold the condominium and car under his name for five million, and heâs still trying Timothy gazed coldly at Azure. âIsnât he obligated to do so since heâs Anyaâs brother?â he sneered.
Azure retorted, âAnd you are her uncle! How could you bear to sit and watch harm befall her?â
Timothy shrugged. âThis is all I have.â
Then, he flung the bank card onto the coffee table.
Azure felt a sudden sense of foreboding at how calm Timothy was. She sensed a change in him, though she could not put her finger on it.
However, she did not want their relationship to become irreparable. âYou have many properties under your name, Timothy.
Knowing Christina, she will never acknowledge you as her father again, so you might as well sell some of them to save Anyaâs life. You will have her eternal gratitude.â
Timothy chuckled inwardly as he met Azureâs gaze. âHave you forgotten?â he said slowly. âSince Christina returned to the Gibson residence, all of my properties have been transferred to her, including the shares. of all the companies under Gibson Corporation.â
Azureâs expression was grim. âWhy did you make such a huge decision without first running it by me?â
Fantastic. Now weâre left with nothing. Christina doesnât even appreciate Timothyâs efforts to make things up to her!
What a waste.
Timothyâs tone was colder than ever. âA cripple I may be, but Iâm not someone who canât make my own decisions. Half of the wealth under my name comes from Veronicaâs hard work, and she would not object to it being given to Christina. Do my wife and I not have a say over how we spend the money we earn?â
Azure was momentarily struck dumb. She belatedly realized she had overstepped her bounds and incurred Timothyâs displeasure.
âThatâs not what I meant,â she explained sheepishly. âI just feel sorry for you, thatâs all. You saw how Christina treated you that day. That girl is an ingrate.â
Uncharacteristically. Timothy scowled. âI donât think she did anything wrong. On the other hand, we have wronged her.â
Azure gaped at Timothy, convinced she had misheard him. âWhere do you get such ludicrous ideas, Timothy? I was right.
Christina has gotten into your head.â
She continued. âAnya is in dire need of money now. Even though youâve transferred everything you own to Christina, they once belonged to you. Make a call and ask her to spare twenty million to save Anya.â
Azure spoke firmly, as if that was how things should be.
âYou are her father. She would have even less of a reason to turn you down.â
Timothy was deeply wounded by Azureâs selfishness and regretted how ignorant he used to be. Why didnât I see through their true nature earlier?
Thus, he rejected her curtly. âIt wonât make sense to ask something youâve given to be returned. Though I am her father, I canât bring myself to do something so absurd and embarrassing. I forbid any of you to contact her.â
Azure was beside herself with rage and panic. âWhat about Anya, then? Sheâs going to die if we canât put together twenty million before daybreak!â
âIâm tired and would like to rest. Please leave.â Timothy wheeled himself to the door. His intention could not be any plainer.
Azure opened her mouth to say something but decided against it. Disappointed, she left.
Just as Timothy closed the door, his phone rang.
âThe results of the paternity test between Mr. Yerek and Mr. Nigel are out.â
