Chapter 438 Not Forever
A Crazy Night Novel
Christina nodded. What happened earlier had been shocking to her, too; she had never expected Anya to push her.
âCan you find out whatâs the relationship between Yerek and Anya?â Christina asked, not at all concerned about her injuries.
Nathaniel furrowed his brows before answering. âTheyâre cousins.â
No wonder they acted like they knew each other.
Christina felt as if her mind was fogged up. It was as though she had figured something out, but not at the same time.
All of a sudden, a warm hand landed between her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose. âDonât overthink it. Rest for a while.â
Then, Christinaâs shoulders were held by a pair of hands, and she was pulled closer to Nathanielâs chest.
On the other side, the second Yerek and Anya returned to the room, they locked the door and went straight to the topic.
Yerek frowned and said. âAnya, youâre too rash. If theyâre to settle the score, youâll be crushed.â
âYerek, whose side are you on? Didnât you know that Grandma invited her to the birthday party? How can you ask her to come on such an important day? Maybe theyâre trying to reveal the fact that Christinaâs the daughter of the Gibson family,â Anya gritted out, wishing that she had crippled Christina earlier, The look in Yerckâs eyes darkened as disappointment seeped into his voice. âThatâs a fact, and thereâs nothing we can do if Grandma wants to acknowledge her identity.â
What happened back then could not be kept under wraps forever.
Every cell in Anya hated the idea. âI donât want Christina to join the Gibson family. The mistake of her being brought to the wrong family should have just continued. Why does she have to come and disrupt. our lives?â
âDonât be mad about it anymore. Instead, we should think about how Nathaniel can be dealt with. Heâs not an easy man to get rid of,â Yerek said, changing the topic.
Anya folded her arms and scoffed. âIs there really a need to be afraid of him? Grandma will surely help us.
Christina only had a short nap before she woke. More accurately, she woke because of the pain in her wrist When she thought about the abruptness of her injury, she told herself that she had to hold Anya. accountable for the incident.
Just then, Nathaniel opened the door and came in with oatmeal. âAre you hungry? Do you want something to eat?â
âIâll do it myself.â After all, Christina had hurt her left wrist; it would not impede her from taking care of herself on a daily basis.

1/4 15:56 Fri, Jun 2 Chapter 438 Not Forever 15 Bonus As Nathaniel sat beside her, he lowered his head and gently scooped a spoonful of oatmeal before lifting the spoon to her lips. âIf you feel shy about me feeding you, you can do the same to me next time Amused. Christina chuckled and parted her lips to eat it. Her stomach was empty, so just as the first scoop of warm food entered it, she began feeling hungry.
In no time, she finished the oatmeal.
Putting down the bowl, Nathaniel then cleaned her lips with a napkin. âHave a rest, but take your meds. before you go to sleepâ
His gentle tone was unlike his usual icy voice. For the first time, Christina realized he seemed like a good caretaker.
If he was less aggressive on other days, she might not hate him as much.
Three days went by in the blink of an eye. Christinaâs injuries recovered faster than she imagined. She had been living at Scenic Garden Manor recently, so Lucas and Camila thought that their parents finally stopped fighting.
On the weekend, while she was having her breakfast, Christina sat in the courtyard and watched the two children play soccer. As the breeze blew and the sun shone on them, Christina noted the way the childrenâs shadows were cast on the grass.
A moment later, Camila ran over and complained, âMommy, Lucas is being mean to me! He wonât let me play with the ball!â
Camila was a girl, and she was slower than Lucas, so she had not been able to get the ball the entire morning.
âThatâs because youâre too slow! You better blow bubbles instead of trying to get the ball from me,â Lucas retaliated, sweat beading on his forehead. He was still gripping tightly to his ball.
Christina reached out to wipe their foreheads with a handkerchief. Chuckling, she then said, âYouâre all sweaty. Donât run anymore. Go back inside to have a drink instead.â
The children nodded obediently and went inside with the butler for a glass of water.
Right then, engine sounds came from the outside, and an elegant silhouette came out of the car.
Behind Azure was a visibly unhappy Anya.
Christina walked over to them, sure that they had come because of the pushing incident.
âCome on in.â
Christina then went inside and instructed the butler to bring the children up before asking the maids to brew some tea.
Azure said, âChristina, Anya didnât mean to push you. Please forgive her.â
As she spoke, she gave Anya a side-eye.
Anya was clearly unwilling to apologize, but her grandmother pressured her into speaking. âI didnât mean it the other day. Sorryâ

2/4 Chapter 438 Not Forever Christina arched a brow when she heard the insincerity in Anyaâs voice.
âAre you expecting us to forgive you with just that?â As the cold voice came from a distance away, a stern Nathaniel appeared by the stairwell.
The atmosphere turned tense.
Both Azureâs and Anyaâs expressions darkened.
Looking at them frigidly. Nathaniel cenunued, âDo you think an apology will suffice after hurting my wifeâs hand?â
Forcing away the annoyance in her chest, Anya turned to Christina and uttered, âIâve already apologized. What else do you want?â
Christina had never seen anyone as shameless as Anya. The latter had hurt someone else, but she was making herself sound like the victim instead.
Hence, instead of answering Anya, Christina looked at her with equal iciness.
Nathaniel then walked over to sit by Christinaâs side, a silent sign of his support for her. âItâs simple. Leave your hand here.â
The second the unhesitant words came out of Nathanielâs mouth, Anyaâs heart lurched, and she nearly burst into frightful tears.
The man was handsome, but he was one heartless individual. She could not believe that he was asking her to chop off her hand.
Azureâs face darkened. How dare Nathaniel speak such bold words while Iâm still here?
In her fury, she smacked her hand on the table and demanded, âMr. Hadley, have some mercy. While itâs good for young ones to have bravery, itâs another story if theyâre ignorant.â
The Gibson family was powerful; they did not need to fear the Hadley family.
Nonetheless, the glacial hint in Nathanielâs gaze only turned even more intense.
A beat later, Azure put the invitation letter on the table and turned toward Christina before speaking in at softer tone. âIâll give you a proper explanation. Please come on time.â
Christina bobbed her head. âI will.â
With that, Azure stood up and turned to leave. Anya hurried after her, fearing that Nathaniel would skin. her alive if she were a second too slow to leave.
It was only after the two were far from them did Christina pick up the invitation letter to look at it. She wondered, Mrs. Lazuli has been insisting on my attendance at the birthday party. Is there something important she wants to tell me?
Meanwhile, on their way back, Anya held Azureâs hand and queried, âGrandma, youâre not thinking about announcing Christinaâs identity, right?â
Azureâs gaze darkened. She questioned, âHave you already found out that Christinaâs the eldest daughter of the Gibson family?
Is that why you pushed her?â
