Chapter 195
A Crazy Night Novel
Chapter 195 Threaten Christina Christina rushed to the Steele residence as fast as she could.
Theyâre too much! How dare they take my mom away while Iâm not around? Mom has just recuperated. She wonât be able to take any more torment!
As soon as she stepped into the house, she saw Gideon and Miranda sitting on the couch, leisurely sipping away at their tea.
At the sight of the anxious look on Christinaâs face, they broke into a wicked smile.
âWhere did you two trick my mother into going?â Christina cut to the chase and questioned them at once.
Putting the coffee cup down, Miranda lifted the corners of her lips into a scornful smirk. âWhat are you talking about? We are a family. Your mom hasnât been quite in the right mind recently. Your dad and I were concerned about her condition, so we sent her to a better place for treatment.â
Hearing her mention the word âconcernâ is utterly disgusting. Theyâve never cared about Mom. Thereâs no way theyâd change so suddenly.
Fury blazed in Christinaâs eyes. âBring my mom back at once, or else I wonât show mercy.â
Gideon took out a psychiatric assessment report and threw it over. âYour mom has been diagnosed with a mental disorder. You canât get her discharged as you wish. She can only be discharged after the doctor deems sheâs recovered.â
Christina grabbed the test report, ripped it to shreds, and threw them at Mirandaâs face. âYou can fake the results. Donât think I canât find out where sheâs at, even if you all keep your mouths shut. Iâll definitely report you two to the cops.â
When she was about to turn away and leave, Miranda took out her phone and passed it to her. âYou can leave, but I doubt sheâll still be alive when you find her.â
It was hard to tell the exact location from the phone.
All Christina could see was a sick bed in a black, empty room and a metal chain secured around Sharonâs ankle. The latterâs face was so pale she looked like a person on the verge of dying.
âMom!â
Even though Christina knew Sharon could not hear her, she still yelled out loud.
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. It pained her heart to see her mother in that state.
Miranda knew she had a hold over Christina when she observed how the latter reacted. âGo ahead and call the cops! So what if they catch us? Your mom wonât survive anyway!â
Tears welled up in Christinaâs eyes as she gritted her teeth.
Itâs obvious she has already bribed the person on the other side. Even if I call the cops now, sheâll still have the upper hand as it only takes seconds for her to make a call. Thatâs why sheâs so confident and fearless.
Christina figured she could only endure it for the time being. It wonât be too late to settle scores with them after I ensure Mom is safe.
âWhat exactly do you want?â she asked.
That was the response Miranda had been waiting for. She exchanged a smug look with Gideon. See. I told you my plan would work for sure.
âYou brat, why do you sound so formal? Weâre a family. If you treat us well, weâll treat you the same way. Ask Mr. Hadley to give up pursuing legal action against your dad and unfreeze his bank card.â Miranda immediately changed her attitude and said ingratiatingly.
Christina glared at her coldly. âFine.â
A smile crept up Mirandaâs face when she heard that. Brat! You wonât be able to escape my clutches this time round!
Before Christina left, she grimly warned, âBut my mom is in poor health. Thereâs no way Iâll let you all off the hook if anything happens to her.â
With that, she turned and strode out of the Steele residence.
Sensing the forbidding aura radiating off Christinaâs body as she left, Gideon could not help but shudder.
âWill she go back and ask Mr. Hadley for help? Weâll be in trouble if he takes his anger out on us.â
Miranda snickered. âDonât worry. That brat values her mother more than her own life. She wonât dare to take any risks.â
She fished out her phone and dialed the wardâs number.
âTake good care of that crazy woman. Nothing must happen to her.â
Of course, since Sharon was still of value, Miranda had to take good care of her, at least until the day when she was no longer of use...
Soon, Gideon received a notification from the bank informing him that his bank card had been unfrozen.
There was also a revocation of the lawyerâs letter, removing all legal actions against him.
âThatâs great. Youâre the best, Darling.â
Gideon hugged Miranda.
âNow you know how great I am, huh? If you dare chase me out next time, Iâll leave with other men,â Miranda threatened.
âNo, I wonât. Iâll even buy you the most dazzling gem when I have money.â
Meanwhile, Christina sat on her office chair, feeling unsettled.
She had no idea how Sharon was doing, yet at the same time, she dared not call the cops.
Just then, her office door was pushed open, startling her.
âChristina, why are you in a daze? Did you forget that thereâs a commercial shoot today, and youâre supposed to go over to do styling?â Gina asked in confusion.
Had the staff not called Gina earlier, she would not have known that Christina had not gone out yet.
âIâm sorry. Iâll head over there right now.â
Christina grabbed her stuff and left.
It was a deal she and Coco had agreed upon two weeks ago. Christina would be in charge of the makeup and styling for all of the latterâs photoshoots.
Upon arrival at the shoot location, she started bustling around and temporarily took her mind off Sharonâs matters.
After the shoot ended, Coco said with satisfaction, âThe styling you do is the best in this world, Christina. Wait till Iâm rich, and Iâll hire your whole team to work only for me.â
Then again, it was extremely costly to hire the entire team.
Generally, it would easily cost hundreds of thousands for a highly skilled team to do one styling.
Cocoâs current income was substantial, but it was still insufficient for her to hire the entire team.
âSure. Iâll wait for you.â
While Christina was packing her stuff, the studioâs lady boss approached her and handed her a name card.
âI see that you have a pretty solid foundation. The styling you did is very fashionable and aesthetically pleasing. I look forward to working with you again.â
All that was on Christinaâs mind was Sharonâs matters. She merely thanked the lady boss as she accepted. the name card from her, then packed her stuff and left.
-For the next few days, Miranda went increasingly overboard with her requests.
First, she asked Christina to find some endorsement deals for Emilia. Then, she said she wanted a condominium in Baykeep.
She had boundless demands, just like a bottomless pit.
Christina mainly used her own savings to satisfy Mirandaâs requests.
However, her savings were nothing but a drop in the ocean when met with Mirandaâs greed.
If this continues, Iâll go bankrupt even before I find Mom. Itâs a little tough to deal with that woman by myself.
Amidst her contemplation, she decided to look for Nathaniel and discuss the matter with him.
Christina arrived at the CEOâs office, but before she could step in, she spotted Sebastian carrying a pile of documents heading inside.
âAre these everything Nathaniel has to deal with?â Christina was slightly shocked.
âThis is the workload for the day. Itâs almost yearâend. Itâs expected that there are more matters to handle,â Sebastian explained.
Christinaâs face sank. Nathaniel is already so busy... I guess itâs not a good idea to disturb him, right?
With that thought in mind, she decided to back out.
âDo you need something?â
Lifting his gaze, Nathaniel noticed Christina standing rooted to the spot, appearing restless.
âItâs nothing important. I was just wondering if you could let Emilia get the latest endorsement deal for Hadley Corporationâs shampoo?â
Hearing her request, Sebastian cast her a strange look.
Whatâs wrong with Mrs. Hadley? Did her relationship with her enemy suddenly get better?
