Chapter 20
Return of the Lost Heiress
âWho are you?â Alec turned to look at the source of the voice.
A pretty young girl with dark hair and chewing gum caught everyoneâs attention with her intense gaze.
Ryan quickly said, âAlec, sheâs the genius doctor I broughtâ¦â
âRidiculous!â Before Ryan could finish speaking, a cold rebuke interrupted him.
âYou greedy little girl again.â Arriving late, Hilda glanced at Wynter with a frown. âAre you here to scamthe hospital because you canât make any money?â
She then shouted, âWho brought this person in? Didnât anyone bother to check?â
Upon hearing Hildaâs voice, Sergio hurried over. âDr. Gibson, itâs a misunderstanding. These people areall the patientâs companions. The patientâs condition is critical and needs immediate attention.â
The patientâs companions? So, was Wynter related to this patient? He was just a poor relativepretending to be from Kingbourne, making her run here for nothing.
âClear the room first,â Hilda said arrogantly.
Ryan frowned. âNo, we must stay.â
Hildaâs voice turned cold. âI prefer to consult patients without anyone else present. If you canât acceptthat, you donât have to arrange a consultation with me.â
She was unwilling to work overtime and did not want to treat everyone.
Though Ryan had heard about Hildaâs infamous reputation in the community square, seeing herarrogant demeanor in person was a different story. He was furious!
âYouâre a doctor! How can you just leave a patient unattended?â Ryan growled.
Hilda responded casually, âWhy are you talking like that? As if you are a family member? I suggestedclearing the room, but you disagreed. What can I do? If you want me to conduct
treatment, I can.â
She gave Wynter a disdainful look and continued, âYour girl doesnât know how to behave and hasoffended me. I wonât make things difficult for you from the backwoods. If she apologizes to me inperson, Iâll see the patient immediately.â
âShe wonât apologize to you!â Ryan exclaimed. He had been in Kingbourne for many years
and wasnât treated like this anywhere else.
Now, Hilda was just making things difficult for them. She was not genuinely trying to save lives.@@novelbin@@
Hilda sneered. âWhatâs with your attitude? Are you trying to cause trouble in the hospital?â
Ryan was seething with anger. For a moment, he actually felt like laying a hand on her.
As the person involved, Wynter raised her hand to stop him and said calmly, âStay calm. Saving lives isthe priority. We can deal with the rest later.â
Ryanâs eyes burned with anger. âIâll listen to you! Please! You must save him. I beg you!â
Witnessing his friendâs state, Alec became convinced of Wynterâs capability.
Hilda sneered disdainfully, âYou really think an amateur like her can cure and save lives? My goodness, thatâs just ignorance.â
âMr. Hunter, what Dr. Gibson said is right. You mustnât be impulsive.â Sergio didnât have any objectionsto Wynter. He saw her as an unreliable young girl.
âYou know how complex Mr. Quinnell Seniorâs condition is. Neither you nor I can do much. Can shehandle it?â
Upon hearing this, Wynter looked down and played with her watch. She said coolly, âThe patient initiallyhad ragged breathing, an unexplained high fever, followed by a persistent dry cough with blood in thethroat and a tight chest. He should already be losing consciousness.â
Every symptom matched! Sergioâs eyes widened in disbelief!
