Chapter 73
Wife by Day Boss by Night ( (Natalie and Brian )
Chapter 73
âIâm catching the flight back home tonight.â Natalieâs voice brooked no argument.
After hanging up the phone, she immediately had Rosie inform Miller of her leave. Since Miller had no scenes planned for her for the time, she had to go back.
After hearing that Natalie was leaving the set, Miller wrapped up the scene he was working on and hurried back to the hotel. When he got there, Natalie was gone with her phone switched
off.
âDid she tell you where she was going?â Miller asked Rosie in anxiety.
Rosie replied helplessly. âShe didnât even let me book her flight. She was gone by the time I came to you. She just said there was an emergency at home and that she had to leave. She didnât specify how long sheâd be gone.â
Miller paced back and forth, agitated and helpless. Finally, he pulled out his phone and stared at Brianâs contact.
At the Howard residence, it was past seven, but Gracia hadnât shown up yet. Calls went unanswered, prompting Davis to summon Brian to his study for a stern inquiry.
âWhy isnât Gracia here?â
âSheâs hurt.ââBrian replied nonchalantly.
âHurt? Why havenât I heard anything about this before?â Davis frowned, concern lacing his voice. âIs it serious?â
âNot too serious. Sheâs been to the hospital,â Brian said, his attention drifting towards the window.
âYou should have told me earlier. Gracia was supposed to be the star of tonightâs dinner party. Sheâs the main guest!â Seeing Brianâs lack of attention, Davis slammed his hand on the desk in frustration.
Brian met Davisâ gaze. âI never said I would marry her. Isnât it a bit unfair to have given the Wright family such false hopes?â he quietly challenged.
Davis fell silent for a long while before finally asking. âAre you still thinking of Natalie?â
âToday is Nateâs birthday. Iâd rather not discuss this,â Brian replied with a hint of impatience.
Right after Brian finished speaking, Davis flipped the coffee table furiously. Hot coffee spilled on Brianâs clothes, cups and pots shattered, and it was a mess on the floor.
âMr. Howardâ¦â The butler started, startled, but was cut off before he could say more.
âGet out!â Davis bellowed, pointing towards the door.

Brian took a deep breath, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, stepped forward, and offered it to his grandfather with a gentle voice, âCareful, Grandpa. Itâs not worth getting upset over. Also, let me repeat it. Today is Nateâs birthday. Whatever makes him happy, thatâs what matters.â With that, Brian turned and left the room.
âLet the guests know the partyâs been postponed. They should head home.â Davis decided immediately after Brianâs departure. âWithout Gracia, thereâs no reason to celebrate.â
âBut Mr. Howard, today is Mr. Nateâs birthday, and heâ¦â the butler began, troubled.
âIn time, Brian will have his children with Gracia!â Davis said emphatically, each word heavy with intent.
Down the hall, Brian heard his grandfatherâs rage and smirked sardonically.
In the eyes of the Howard family. Nate would always be the illegitimate child.
But no matter what, Nathan was his son by blood. The affection Brian bestowed upon Nate was the boyâs solid standing in the Howard family. He would never have another child in this. lifetime.
As the guests trickled away, Brian stood by the study window, looking down at the back door where a small figure sat on the steps, chin propped on hands, a look of anticipation as he gazed in the direction of the road.
